I can’t see either of the Bushes or Reagan doing this. Nixon might have thought it, but he never would have said it, unless he was really drunk. Listen to Donald Trump, drunk on vainglory, per usual, admonishing his followers to sell his autograph on EBay for ten thousand dollars. This is King Donald’s gift to them. They are so fortunate and lucky. Next to touching the hem of Jesus’ garment, this is as close as a Trumpkin can get to godliness.

My sense of this is that Trump is deliberately seeking to be as grotesque as possible, because he knows it’s the nature of the grotesque, that you cannot look away. Even if you’re repulsed, you keep watching. That’s the appeal of horror. And if you’re a narcissist, all you care about is the attention.

Now, when you’re finished being properly disgusted, take a look at what his signature really fetches on EBay.

It looks like Trump better start mixing the kool-aide. The magic seems to be wearing off. Although make no mistake, the Trumpkins are ugly people. This is who Trump is signing the autographs for.

Never thought I would see this in America. The Republicans opened Pandora’s box when they put this hate mongering carny barker on their ticket.

  1. So… a continuation of the pattern where Dimwit Donny overvalues his every ‘achievement’, and a quick check of the facts reveals the reality.

Not that it gets through to his followers in the RWNJ bubble.

    • What kind of person wants an autograph from Donald J. Trump*? Answer: the kind of person who would never sell it because they would consider it a holy relic. So they’ll never find out how much it’s really worth(less0.

    • That’s why he ran in the first place – he thought he’d be more famous and make more money via TV. He didn’t think about what if he *won* – and he can’t do the job.
(TBH, he’d be off the air by now, just from the dementia.)

  2. It’s worth keeping in mind that those autographs were signed with a taxpayer purchased autopen machine – you know damn well Trump wouldn’t spring for the cost of one nor allow campaign funds to be used to buy one either. Maybe some folks who got suckered by purchasing signed MAGA stuff in the belief they’d make AT LEAST 10K wound up losing “bigly” on the deal. Even if they only lost twenty or thirty bucks it could be an eye opener for at least some of them and while I have no illusions they will vote for any Democrat perhaps some of them will be discouraged enough not to bother voting at all. Even tiny wins can sometimes add up to something significant.

One last thought which I think is pretty funny. The flaming orange gasbag is promoting EBay! While I realize she cashed out long ago, Founder Meg Whitman who most people still strongly associate with that site endorsed Joe Biden! Funny is so hard to find these days I’ll take it wherever I can get it.

  3. Trump is supposed to be an economic genius (you know, from his great education at Wharton Business) but he seems to overlook the most basic principal of economics: Supply and demand.

Given the number of Trump autographs that have to be out on the market, there’s NO way anyone’s going to get $10,000 by selling the autograph. (Then, too, how many of Trump’s fans/followers/cultists have $10,000 to spend on Trump’s signature? I know his fans/followers/cultists think they can get rich off the autographs, but who are they going to sell to?)

  4. What scares me half to death is the news reporting that the polls show the lead slipping for Biden and people are starting to think Trump can win. We cannot have this man for president another four years. We just can’t.
Biden needs to employ the same tactics as Trump. When he goes out he needs to tell people he is going to win and people will believe it.

    • Biden is still well ahead. The “slip” is well within the margin of error. Biden is doing what HE needs to do – and he’s a decent person, unlike Himself.
Stop panicking, because that’s what the GOP-T want you to do.

    • There is usually a tightening at this time in the race. That was expected. But I understand your feelings. It is amazing to me that anybody could still be supporting Trump — but then I read the twisted version of the facts that a lot of people hear and I understand. We are so screwed right now. I never thought I’d live to see anything like this.

      • A lot of us didn’t think that. And I’m not panicking but there is a very real chance of this election being stolen just like the last one. It’ll be a little trickier, and a lot more expensive, but that’s no problem for them, they seem to have the money now that they have all those Xtians and so forth on their side.
The close margins are where the EC comes in. Analysts have said that even though dump lost the popular vote by 3 million in 2016, he could lose it by even 5 million this year and still be shored up by his red EC buddies in battleground states. If that happened, all the votes in other areas would be for naught, no matter how hard fought for.
And before anyone wants to start, I’m still writing, calling, donating, writing some more, and organizing like hell for what I believe in. I refuse to give up. But I am a realist. I make no predictions at this point, I just think we need to be aware of what could happen.

        • It’s going to be harder this year – it’s not nearly as close as it was last time.

“Fear never builds the future, but hope does.” – Joe Biden

    • He’s in a disaster zone, in his official capacity, and he’s wearing campaign merchandise. And for good measure, he throws in this idiotic comment about selling his autograph. I keep thinking that I’m beyond getting disgusted with this man and then I find, no, I am not.

      • Ursula, one of my favourite definitions of Trumpler came from a pal who, like yourself, kept thinking Trump had hit the bottom of the sleazebag but nope, there was a lower level: Trump’s the kind of pig that other pigs see and say, “Now THERE’S a real pig.”

  5. On the other hand, Biden showed up at one place in Pittsburgh with pizzas for first responders, carrying them himself when he got out of the car.
