It is said that hope springs eternal and maybe delusion outlasts even hope. It does in Donald Trump’s case. He was talking to his buddies over at Gateway Pundit. It’s the same old same old. You can recite it by heart, the crooked media, the rigged election, on and on. The only thing I haven’t heard him say is that he, too, believes that “they” — who, SCOTUS? — somebody will decertify the election. That is flat out impossible. But Trump and Mike Lindell think it’s going to happen and is in fact just around the corner.
Remember how Judgement Day in the original Terminator was August 29, 1997? Reinstatement Day was set for August 13, 2021. That was the morning after Mike Lindell’s cyber symposium and he met with Trump. Man, to have been a fly on that wall and hear that conversation. Cue the Twilight Zone music. Salon:
Josh Merritt, a former member of Lindell’s “red team” at the South Dakota gathering, told Salon that the meeting occurred at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach on the evening of Aug. 13. According to Merritt, New Mexico State University law professor David K. Clements, a Lindell associate and “election truther,” talked about the potential Trump meeting ahead of time, during the cyber symposium. “David said he was trying to get on as a lawyer for 45,” Merritt said adding that Clements saw Lindell’s relationship with Trump as a way to gain access to the inner circles of TrumpWorld.
Following the Aug. 13 event at Mar-a-Lago, Clements took to Telegram to praise Trump and boast about their meeting. “The greatest honor of my life. My President. Your President,” he wrote. “Spent an unforgettable evening with the real President of the United States.” […]
As that deadline drew nearer, Lindell became less specific about the August date, although he continued to say on former Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s podcast that it was only a matter of time before the former president returned to the Oval Office. During a late August rally in Cullman, Alabama, Lindell had to move the reinstatement goalposts once again, telling Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) that Trump will find himself holding the reins of power by the end of the year.
“It has to happen now. It’s Trump 2021,” Lindell said. “One hundred percent Trump 2021! And it’s — this election, when it does get pulled down, there were so many down-tickets affected. Maybe the Supreme Court and that they just do a whole new election, which is fine. But remember, everybody, we have to melt down the [voting] machines to make prison bars out of them!”
I will follow this story to its final fizzle, partly out of a sense of diligence, partly out of a sense of wonder at how it drags on and on and on.
And just by the by, Gateway Pundit is not doing so well. They were thrown off of Google AdSense last week for posting “dangerous and derogatory content.” AdSense is not somebody to screw around with. Our own ads here at PolitiZoom got restricted by AdSense when I opened the AdSense account in January. No explanation was given. In my hysterical consultations with others, I found out that this happens all the time, websites having their ads restricted and then reinstated. Google will not tell you why. They don’t want to reveal how their algorithms work. The best you will get are links to articles and you have to guess what you might have done wrong. Long story short, after two and a half months of on again off again ads, mostly off, I went to another ad provider with a customer service department.
I even wondered if PZ articles were considered dangerous and derogatory, but how could that be when they played for years without incident when PZ shared the AdSense account with our former sister site, Daily Sound and Fury? No answers.
Google also restricts advertisers from time to time and that’s unnerving as well, I am told. Advertisers spend lots of money on ads and ad campaigns and to have Google stop playing them is financial death.
In the case of Gateway Pundit, they won’t be reinstated. They were not just put on a temporary restriction, they were thrown off of Google, after making beaucoup bucks. There’s money in conspiracy theory, or at least there has been. It may very well be an industry on the wane. I have no idea and believe me, it’s something I stay on top of.

I know you mostly get paid by ads, but the left popup ad and the bottom pop up add often cover up the text. I often have to guess what the first two letters are on the left side of the page. I do like the block center spaced text that often comes out on the center of the page which is not blocked by the ads.
Yes, these decertify folks are crazy. I wonder who is paying all their bills. There cannot be any big donors left for trump at this point. Russians? Saudis? Mafia?

I’ve heard of the ads blocking text. I’ll report it again. I don’t see it myself, because I live on the site and by some mechanism I don’t understand, I see fewer ads than somebody who comes in fresh once a day or a couple of times a week. I could go into incognito mode and see what you’re seeing and maybe I’ll do that.
Advertising is a necessary evil. I don’t like ads on other sites because they distract the hell out of me but I know that they are a site’s life’s blood, unfortunately. Maybe we can go to a subscription service at some point where people can pay “x” amount to have the ads turned off.
First thing I do, is close those two pop-ups before I start reading.
Same here. I get rid of those two and then try to get rid of any offensive ones (pro-tRump, sexually exploitive picture ads, etc.).
Just FYI, Ursula, I still do not get email notifications from PZ, and I’ve re-signed up for them several times.
This is going to go on as long as there are people willing, able and eager to give the orange sh*t-gibbon a rim job. Unfortunately that might be for at least as long as TFG is alive.
