He couldn’t fill all the seats. He couldn’t fill half the seats. He was rallying in a safely red state, and there are questions about why he chose to do this. He’s 80 years old, and he probably can’t feed off the crowd as much as he used to. We can bet he tried to quietly avoid speaking about the war, or it might be quite the opposite, so he boasted, but the people in Alabama have to be just as tired of it as the rest of the country. That’s unknown for now, as to whether he did or not. It would have been smart to avoid it, but this is Trump, and Trump’s speaking wanders.
It doesn’t make much sense for him to fly to red states to rally. This one was in a state which is pretty much safely red. On the other hand, this keeps him from making a mess in states that have turned into surprising battlegrounds for the midterms. It may be for only one or two state or Congress seats, but they aren’t safely red anymore. Even if the Democrat slips behind the Republican at the next poll, it’s still a race. And they will continue to be races up to election day.
On the other hand, there have also been articles about Trump’s staff only letting him speak in those safely red areas. If he’s really pushing to do rallies, it might be better to have him go, as opposed to fighting with him to stay home and golf. Trump sees the writing on the wall, and it is not good. Even his addled brain can see what’s happening. The people of the country are tired of Trump’s bullsht and are looking at how to change it. They seem to be willing to have Democrats have a go at the country and Trump. We have to see if they are going to give us a shot. And if so, how much we can hogtie Trump and Republicans.
Heh. Thom Tillis may be quietly happy to have a Democrat win his seat, and that would be the ultimate slap in the face to Trump. We certainly wouldn’t complain if we took his seat. Tillis has done some pushing back against Trump, even though he was inconsistent about it. Come to think of it, Cornyn may quietly be happy to have Talarico take his seat. Yes, they are Republicans through and through, but Trump abused them. There’s no nicer word for it.
Because you’ve been so patient, how about a quote from Jen Psaki of MS NOW, with appreciation for the people at Raw Story bringing her to us.
“Even in ruby red Alabama, enthusiasm for Trump and his gimmick seems to be waning,” Psaki said on “The Briefing with Jen Psaki” as the show aired footage from inside the venue. “Here was the scene from inside the venue at Trump’s big Alabama rally tonight. Trump couldn’t even fill half the seats in the arena.” “That venue holds 10,000 people,” Psaki said. “And when Trump kicked off his presidential campaign in 2015, he was able to fill an arena three times that size in the exact same city.” “It’s like a visual representation of his political decline,” she added.
Ouch. But then Ms. Psaki does not pull her punches. And that’s an interesting statement. A “visual representation of his political decline”. That’s something to remember. His age is showing. He wrecked the country, and the people are showing it. He’s not worth the time anymore. Yes, there were definitely fans at the rally. But then there were a whole lot of empty seats. Funny how that works. He’s sundowning in more ways than one. You can bet he refuses to see it, just like he refuses to actually accept what he sees in a mirror.
His charisma is fading. His body is aging. His brain is definitely aging. He’s not who he was when he took office for the second time, let alone the way he was in 2015. His behavior is bonkers. And it’s obvious all he cares about is himself and money. He doesn’t give a damn about even trying to pretend he worries about us. Is it any surprise people have turned away from him? Not to us. But breaking the rose-colored glasses has been happening slowly but surely. Trump is on the outs. We just have to survive 2 more years. Let’s hope we can do so.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula
