If you’re in Washington, D.C. tonight you might want to get off the streets. No, a curfew has not been declared but that’s what’s going to happen next. Starting at midnight tonight federal law enforcement officers from the U.S. Park Police, FBI, DEA, ATF, and divisions of ICE and other agencies will be out there. Trump has decided the streets are “unsafe” and so he’s going to create a military zone. This is another one of those times where my brain and my fingers are having a cognitive crisis because I cannot believe what one is telling the other to translate into illuminated pixels. I truly shake my head in despair.
Federal law enforcement officers will patrol the streets of Washington, D.C., for the next seven days, the White House announced on Thursday. […]
The announcement comes a day after President Trump said he was considering taking control of the Washington, D.C., police department in the wake of a violent attack on a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer.
“Washington, DC is an amazing city, but it has been plagued by violent crime for far too long. President Trump has directed an increased presence of federal law enforcement to protect innocent citizens. Starting tonight, there will be no safe harbor for violent criminals in D.C.,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said. President Trump is committed to making our Nation’s capital safer for its residents, lawmakers, and visitors from all around the world.”
It has been speculated that the precipitating *crisis* here was the attack on Edward Corisine aka Big Balls.
See this for what it is, which is one more step towards authoritarianism. Yes, there is crime in D.C., there is crime everywhere. But turning the country into a militarized zone is not going to address underlying causes or create long term solutions.
Trump is flexing his muscles. And Jeanine Pirro suggests that the age at which people can be tried as adults should be reduced to 14 — which would allow Big Balls’ two 15-year-old assailants to be tried as adults. Shades of Wild In The Streets, you’re an adult at 14. That was when the voting age was reduced to 14, in the story. “Fourteen Or Fight” was the rock and roll song, which I’ll share with you here. And 14 being the age of maturity led to all kinds of wild things in the movie.
In all truth, the premise of this movie is no crazier than the world that you and I live in for real.

small balls now. he was probably bullying the kids anyway
So it was just a random assault on an ‘innocent person’, not a well deserved attack on someone who is helping destroy effective government and fraudulently help themselves and their associates to vast sums of money at everyone else’s expense?
Yeah. Right.
It looks to me that Karma is out exercising again.
The Mayor and DC police chief should announce that ANY Federal official attempting to arrest ANY DC citizen will themselves be arrested if they are in DC’s jurisdiction (basically anywhere other than the White House, Capitol grounds and federal landmarks) and the District will file FORMAL challenges of wrongful arrest against federal officers. Probably won’t happen but DC needs to remind Drumpf that he does NOT have such authority over DC.
That was the first thought in my mind, “How can the jurisdiction of the D.C. police just be ignored like that?” And I guess we’ll find out the answer as soon as somebody is arrested. What a mess.
I see it as looking for tinder with a match to see what catches fire. As with the National Guard and marines deployed to LA, look at overstretch actions of this sort across the nation. Look at the paramilitary explosion of budget, numbers and actions of ICE.
To me there is one objective: just about a year from now (Labor Day 2026 is a good marker) all of the above will have fomented so much fear and anger it will (crocodile tears of regret) unfortunately be necessary to declare martial law.
Et Voila, the existential threat of loss of Congress will disappear and off we go to the Coronation.
This is a prelude to martial law, there’s no question about that. Get people used to it slowly.
“Bullying the kids anyways”, “well deserved attack”??? along with false claims of militarization of law enforcement? Listen to yourselves you lunatics! Keep defending criminals & losing elections. Idiots.
lol Ursula! You mean this is just the next thing that you are trying to say will trigger martial law. Why I’m old enough to remember when president Trump activating national gaurd troops was MOST DEFINITELY a ploy to enact martial law.
It couldn’t POSSIBLY be literal riots in the streets of L.A. and other cities. And now it certainly can’t be rampant violence with no arrests or prosecution because of soros funded, pro criminal D.A’s. Nah
NOT the next thing. Look at the accumulation. It’s another brick in the wall. It’s the anti-democratic equivalent of the boiling of the frog story. Keep nudging and pressing, a small incident here magnified into an “atrocity”; another there….. until things flare up
It is funny how these car-jackings in DC, that seem to have been going on for ages, only matter when one of the DOdGE boys lands in the crossfire. __Then__, there is all this running around. I didn’t matter at all before Aug 7th, 2025.
Much as I am furious about what DOdGE has done for the sake of our nation and the soft power and functioning we have lost, and I am also angry at the youthful, impudent arrogance of Musk’s “disciples”. We don’t know the whole story, but one should know that criminals can get violent and you are likely to come out the worst for it in an altercation if you are caught in their net. That said, we should not forget that this is (first and foremost) the fault of the “gurus” of this MAGAt madness. They want their $200 M ballroom, $1 G plane, golfing galore (at our expense), and the ruination of America. … but you? Well, you’re on your own pal.
Car-jacking is wrong (and always has been wrong). However, so is turning these incidents into political theater and a “big display”, rather than working diligently to build up a formidable presence of DC police to stop this sort of activity. There is, after all, federal funding. Who was responsible for not providing enough federal funding so that there was sufficient DC police presence there so these things don’t happen.
Let’s also not forget that this is a lesson about getting mixed up with powerful charlatans who mislead the youth. The young people in the Red Guard destroyed the lives of many intellectuals and their families in China. They have to live with what they have done in their youthful zealotry … to their own country, their own future, and their own countrymen.
