This is beginning to sound serious. What’s at stake is nothing short of global order and the present global alignment, which Trump — under the tutelage of Vladimir Putin — is only too happy to upend. Trump did a presser today, wherein he said, “We can do this the easy way or we can do it the hard way,” which sounds like, “Nice country you got there. Be a shame if anything happened to it.”
Trump again expressed his intent to take over Greenland:
“The fact that they [Denmark] had a boat land there [Greenland] 500 years ago doesn’t mean they own the land. I’m sure we had lots of boats go there also.”

NATO has always counted on the U.S. as a guarantor, not an aggressor. If Trump decides to go against Greenland/Denmark, then he is going against another NATO member state. This is going to be upending, to say the very least.
And what possible outcomes will there be? The UK has already stood with the Prime Minister of Denmark in solidarity against any U.S. incursion of Greenland. Would the UK take arms up against the United States for the first time since 1812?
And what would the Canadians do? Would the rest of NATO simply turn on the United States? These are all valid questions that it doesn’t seem that Trump has thought about to any great extent. What does Trump propose, armed invasion?

I don’t think NATO, the UK and Canada are just going to sit there and let Trump invade Greenland. Maybe I’m wrong. But collectively they must know that if they do sit still for it that next is Colombia or Cuba or who knows who. I guess we’re going to find out if Trump decides that Venezuela isn’t the only country that needs to have its regime toppled.

Prime Minister Carney said Canada will stand with Denmark and its NATO partners. This IS deadly serious and I believe Canada with its Nordic and European defense partners are now preparing for war. Where that ends up, God only knows, but it’s clear that many EU leaders realize it’s a better option than having Russian tanks roll through their capitals.
I would welcome Europe and Canada helping us out in excising the flesh-eating bacteria that has infected our country, since we don’t seem to be making much progress internally.

The current rationale re Greenland is that he doesn’t want Russia as a neighbor and to establish his vision of US runs “America”. On the other hand, he does nothing to hold back Russia encroaching on Europe where, with a little bit of effort and relationship building, US would control/have powerful influence from the Aleutians to the Black Sea and the Russian Bear would be toothless as regards Greenland. And, if it is Greenland’s resources as the objective, inevitably neighboring US’s corporations would be in there large. Tough guy dementia stoked by enablers rules
