Trump knows how bad what’s about to happen in the House is. And he WANTS to see it happen. He wants to destroy, and cause great pain and suffering. He’s lashing out because HE is experiencing the ‘suffering’ of insufficient worship. He’s past caring about political consequences and has decided since he will eventually go down he’s going to take everyone, whether friend or foe with him.
Hakeem Jeffries is holding the floor to prevent final passage of Trump’s assault on all of America. Trump is out to destroy even his own GOP. Even many Republicans realize this now yet most are willingly going to vote for their own political slaughter by their constituents. I rather doubt once back home tomorrow they will be out mixing with constituents at 4th of July functions. Trump knows, he KNOWS the political price the GOP will pay and doesn’t care.
I pay attention to Trump’s niece Mary when she speaks up about why he’s the way he is. Her own training and experience in clinical psychology is greater than my own and being part of the Trump family, if not a central figure in Trump’s nuclear family insight few others have. However it doesn’t take someone with special training to realize the devolution of Trump has led him to what we are witnessing. And why.
Trump puffs himself up with thoughts of being the greatest human being in this history of human beings. The smartest, most accomplished, toughest/manliest, the most desirable etc. The very best of any and everything that’s ever been. Of course he’s haunted at times, especially in the dark at night as he confronts the fact he’s none of those things. That except for the happy (for him) accident of being born rich he’d be nothing.
Still, he built an image and brand using his father’s, and other people’s money. He marketed his “success” in NYC for a long time and while New Yorkers, especially the city’s elite knew the truth (that he wasn’t jack-sh*t) lots of people bought the circus show he put on. Enough to let him enjoy all the trappings of wealth and power. Sadly, like any addict Trump has never been able to get enough of his drug/source of addiction. In his case the “drug” is a mix of adulation/adoration/admiration and recognition of his greatness. Awe inspired worship from everyone.
Again, deep inside in parts of him he fights to keep hidden away he knows damn well how undeserving he is. However he had a lifetime of fooling others, and assumed one when he became President ten years ago he’d have damn near universal recognition of his “greatness” not just here in the U.S. but world-wide. Clearly that hasn’t happened.
Joe Biden kicked his ass in 2020 just like Trump so feared would happen. Trashing Biden and coopting the media and even a lot of Democrats into ignoring obvious signs of HIS age and both mental and physical infirmities Trump got everyone looking at Biden’s. The same Biden who was accomplishing astonishing things and doing the impossible by sometimes getting bi-partisan support. I hope you’ll forgive the language but I’m going to say something that’s exactly like Trump thinks: Trump knew if he could get Biden to drop out he’d face Kamala Harris and by the time he was done enough of the country would overlook HIS massive flaws rather than vote for some woman. A N!@@er Woman. Tragically he was correct on that.
Still, for all his talk about how big he won he knows he just barely eked it out. I’m convinced he really thought it would be a blowout and to Trump’s diseased, disturbed mind the fact that half the country voted for a ‘N!@@er Woman’ instead of HIM broke him in the same way big brother Fred Jr. did when Freddie dumped the bowl of mashed potatoes over Trumpty’s head when he was a kid.
Trump is baffled, resentful, and angry to a degree the world has never seen in a person who holds vast power. He’s seized with the the attitude of so many jilted spouses/lovers – the “If I can’t have her/him then no one can’ and murder/suicides happen every single day all over the place due to this type of thinking.
That is what we have in the White House. A President who envisioned being the most admired and worshipped person in world history who finds himself strongly opposed by half (now more) of the country, held in disdain by fellow world leaders and suffering dropping polling numbers because even people who voted for him don’t like him now! Trump has realized not only has he NOT gotten what he so craved; he’s realized he will NEVER get it.
So despite knowing how much he and his Party will be reviled for passing this massive, monstrous bill he’s gone Jim Jones on himself and the Party. Forced them to drink the deadly Koo-Aid. Trump knows how much damage his bill will do. How millions, hell tens and perhaps hundreds of millions will be harmed by it. And THAT friend is the point. He truly does want to be the “Destroyer of Worlds” because if he can’t have what HE wants then by god he’s going to make everyone else suffer.
If you’ve read this far you have to be asking how so many could go along like lemmings. Reminders of how Germany let Hitler lead them over the edge of the cliff come to mind. That’s not the only example. Look at how the Japanese people allowed their leaders to walk their country over the edge. They assumed their Emperor condoned it all and to an extent he did. How deep down the rabbit hole did they go?
It’s the first week of July and the time when the battle for Saipan, a crucial step forward for us in the Pacific was coming to its tragic climax. At the end, when it was clear the battle was lost the Japanese General in command issued an order for mostly unarmed troops, thousand of them to carry out a suicidal charge. It was pure carnage but that wasn’t the worst. Saipan was the first major island we retook which had a significant civilian population. Saito had a message for them too. Die rather than surrender and damned if many, easily over a thousand at two places did just that. He even encouraged them to kill their children and they did. Hundreds jumped to their deaths from two cliffs at the northernmost point of the island.
My point is that people are more susceptible to following stupid, harmful and even suicidal guidance than most of us are willing to accept is the case. Europe and Asia were two distinct places and cultures yet look what happened. And again I cite the more recent example of Jim Jones. Is it any wonder that Republican politicians are meekly going along and cutting their own throats? Not to me. Like I said earlier, the “If I can’t have her/him then no one can” and attached murder-suicide happens all the time. Worse, history shows it can play out on a mass scale.
Trump will be consumed in the flames he is fanning. From where I sit that no longer matters to him IF he can ensure everyone else is burnt to a crisp first.  Let’s hope we prove to be good enough ‘firefighters’ to limit the destruction Trump clearly intends to cause.

What can I say about this piece that you’ve written Denis? It’s gloomy and hateful fiction. You will be proven wrong I’m certain. Is it a perfect bill? No legislation is. But it will serve the American people, and better than the so called inflation reduction act. We shall see.
