First a personal aside. I don’t freakin’ believe it! In an article yesterday, tongue firmly in cheek, I suggested that left to his own devices that wet brain RFK Jr. would tell an audience that it was he who had dumped that whale on the beach years ago, forcing them to blow the thing up to get rid of it. And now NBC News is reporting that in a speech, Kennedy regaled the crowd with a claim that years ago he had cut the head off of a beached baby whale and thrown it in the car, wanting it for a souvenir! My friends, you cannot make. this. sh*t. up!
Now on to business. If there’s one thing that almost every senior GOP member, whether a campaign staffer, a GOP operative, or a GOP incumbent is pissing and moaning like a racehorse about, it’s that Traitor Tot just won’t listen anymore!
It’s not like His Lowness ever really listened to anyone, preferring his bacon double cheeseburger stuffed gut for inspiration, but therre were at least some time tested and proven methods to get around his ears and appeal directly to his ego shield.
For instance, there was pure deception. remember that scene in Roger rabbit where the Judge was about to drop Roger in the Dip, and Eddie valiant did a mind f*ck? Take the drink! I don’t want it. You do. I don’t. You do! I don’t! You don’t. I do! You don’t! I DO! and Roger downs the drink? His staff used to do that. Couch their introduction of new ideas as if it was Trump who had actually thought the damn thing up in the first place, then sit back and watch him guzzle the drink. Yes. He really is that stupid. Now you know the nature of the beast.
Then there was FUX News. If Trump was being obstinate about something he really needed to do, a trusted aide or tame incumbent would go on FUX News, glowingly describe the idea or program, and get the prime time FUX News host to sign off on it as great. Trump may not have listened to his mother, but he’d listen to Mother Tucker or Sean Hannity before he’d listen to God.
But in the last six or so weeks, El Pendejo ex Presideente listens to nobody. FUX News doesn’t work anymore, nor does the double back bait and switch. I find it hard to believe that as Biden circled the drain, that somebody from the campaign didn’t bring this up to Trump to start a contingency plan for running against Harris instead. And they did. But Trump shut it down. Biden would never voluntarily give up power because Trump would never voluntarily give up power. And now look where the campaign is.
But I think I’ve unlocked the secret to the final descent of Trump into sociopathic senility. And it couldn’t have occurred in the first place without the slavish approval of the entire GOP. But without this particular sequence of events, over an extended period of time, we would not be where we are today. I’ll explain.
It is now not just common knowledge, it’s more or less settled fact that the GOP is no longer a functional political party, it is now a cult of personality. And the first rule of success in any cult is to elevate the leader to deity status. Charlie Manson’s birth certificate name was Charles Milles Manson. But when he started his family, he told his followers that his birth name was actually Charles Willis Manson. Get it? Charles Will Is Mans Son. The family got it quickly enough.
All of them do it. David Koresh did it. Jim Jones did it. The idea is to make your flock totally dependent on you. There is no room for dissent. The Godhead is the fount from which all good things flow, and his wrath is fearsome. Add to it some more serious acolytes with weapons of various kinds to maintain order, and you have your scepter and halo.
And the GOP was all in with this sh*t. It started with some far right Evangelical wingnuts screaming that Trump was sent by God to save the United States, and even the whole world. Some of these bush burning nitwits went so far as to claim that Traitor Tot was The Second Coming. Trump, ever the con man lapped this up like cream, not only because is inflated his ego, but it gave him another measure of control over his sheeple. And then the GOP caucus started parroting this insane bullsh*t. If Trump wasn’t actually God, he sure as hell sat at his right hand.
And then came the assassination attempt in July. And in the aftermath of that horrific event, the cult went into hysterical overdrive. MAGAt’s, cult members and lunatic Evangelicals praised God for sparing El Pendejo ex Presidente, going so far as to say that Gos’d hand stayed that bullet! Trump’s holy work on this planet is not done, and no earthly assassin can stand against God’s will! This hysterical bullsh*t went on and on, including GOP congress critters intoning prayers of thanks for Trump’s survival.
Simple question. Why. Wouldn’t. Trump. Believe. It? Trump has been devolving for years now, sliding slowly but surely into dementia. And while Traitor Tot himself has never had a pious, Christian thought in his life, what difference does that make. After all, what difference does it make if God’s thoughts, or those of his right hand are pious. By their creation, they’re Holy Writ.
And here’s how we know that The Cheeto Prophet is actually buying into this lame bullsh*t. because he’s telling us so. In his nomination acceptance speech, Trump began with the assassination attempt, claiming on multiple occasions that He felt the hand of God guiding him and saving him from the assassins bullet. The Holy grace that he felt made the experience nothing short of a miracle. Now some of this is probably nothing more than con man bullsh*t, selling the mark to hand over his wallet, but on a deeper level, in Trump’s twisted mind, with his ego so shattered and bruised, what more soothing way to con himself into thinking that his recent setbacks are something like the scourging of Christ? Nothing can touch him, and no true ill can befall him, simply because God has his back.
That being said, what does Trump need with a campaign, or operatives, or even faithful disciples in his MAGA GOP? He is anointed. He doesn’t need to burn a bush, he’s already connected to God. Who needs suggestions and strategies from mere mortals when you’ve got a pipeline to The Almighty?
These mental midgets in the GOP have nobody to blame but themselves. They were all more than ready, willing, and Betty Grable to assist in shoveling this bullsh*t into the mind of a feeble, delusional old man, just so long as they could ride his coattails to eternal glory. And now it’s beginning to appear that they’re all about to have ringside seats to a crucifixion. I can’t help but wonder how many Peters there are out there, ready to betray their Lord three times in order to avoid a cross of their own.
I thank you for the privilege of your time.

Deep down Trump knows how lucky he is that that young man was a lousy shot. So bad that it wasn’t even a bullet but a bit of shrapnel (I still say either the first shot grazed a railing of the grandstand, or skull fragments from the head of the guy who died. The distance and velocity of shrapnel coming out of the other side of the guy’s head would be consistent with Trump and those four motocycle cops getting hit with bits of some kind of shrapnel and small bone fragments would do it.
But the point is that for the first time in his life Trump realizes but for LUCK he’d be dead. That affects people and all the more so narcissists like Trump. Believe me I know the feelings in the aftermath of surviving something. Before I was 30 I’d survived more incidents where by all rights I should have died right then and there, where NO ONE could believe I walked away relatively unharmed than I want to remember. Much less recount. There have been a couple since. It does affect a person.
I think it’s gotten to Trump. Sure, sometimes the ego stroking about being god’s chosen one puffs him up for a while. Then he realizes he no more believes in god than rational adults believe in the Easter Bunny. THAT is when he starts breaking out in cold sweats. It was plain dumb LUCK that he didn’t die on that platform. And he hates himself for the fear that brings him. I keep saying no matter how bad things are they can always get worse and we are a long ways from Trump collapsing on the floor in a puddle of tears followed by a catatonic state. But I think he’s slipped over the edge of that ramp which gets steeper with each foot of the way down.
The thing to watch for is how he does in October. Folks like you and me can see him devolving because we know what to look for and see it happening before our eyes. IF it gets so bad even MAGAs and that includes many in elective office at least wonder if he’s “all there” then for all our worries I think the election and certification of the results might go more smoothly that we currently (and with good reason) fear.
I can’t stand the guy and he’ll be someone to watch out for in 2028 but GA Gov Brian Kemp is again showing some leadership by trying to make the country see his state will do things by the book. After using his position as SecState to cheat his way into the Governor’s Mansion and passing some voter suppression laws he’s done tempting fate. He’s clearly signalling to other states they’d do well to also play things straight – and if the votes aren’t there this year get to work on the 2026 midterms and 2028. Without Trump being a player anymore.
I think you’re drinking the koolaid man. A con’s a con, his God is only greenbacks as all cons believe in.
You’re forgetting the old adage, “A con man’s first and most successful mark is himself.” They’re smarter than anybody else, and it ends up being THEM that drink the Kool Ade, not me…
Well said, Murfster! Although his tendency to ignore advice has intensified lately as his dementia advances in severity, he has always rejected whatever contradicted his “instincts.” Remember “my instincts about the law are better than the lawyers” Now his rejection of everything his “responsible” advisers suggest is based on two fundamental facts: 1. When it gets right down to it, he’s incapable of rational thought for any extended period of time, and he always has been. That’s why his faux “press conferences” lately begin with him agonizingly trying to stick to whatever script has been fabricated by his staff, only to return to form after five or ten minutes’ 2. As his reasoning ability continues to disappear, he’s more convinced than ever that he must show all the doubters that he’s still the boss. Or, as he put it in a rare moment of insight, “I am who I am.”
You say the g.o.p. is no longer a functioning political party but doesn’t the fact they win elections as members of the republican party mean it is still a functioning political party? Do they function as well as they once did? Well, no but they still are functioning political party. When running as a republican means the candidates will be cast into the wilderness (lose their election), at that point we can say the party no longer functions. You know, they still keep the name Republican Party. It may be the party that locks its lips on von shitzinpants’ so firmly he gets a hickey, but it is still the republican party. When it becomes the trump party or magat party, that might be a different thing but that hasn’t happened. Republican still means something.
Let’s see how the party looks at the federal and state levels after the election. If they lose some seats, it means little–elections are a back-and-forth game. If they lose a LOT of seats, we can say they are functioning barely or poorly. If everything basically turns blue, then I think we can kiss the mother-f*ckers good-bye.
