Truth Social is an amazing place to be these days. It’s a Rorschach test of Donald Trump’s psyche and as such a barometer of just how crazy politics in this country is right now and has been since Trump stepped into the spotlight in 2015.

Two items from this morning are particularly noteworthy. The first is his latest diatribe against Jack Smith, whom he is elevating to legend status at this point. Trump is so clearly scared to death of the man.

I attribute that to a guilty conscience. Obviously, Trump knows what he has done and he’s terrified because he doesn’t know what Smith has found out. That’s the no brainer explanation for this over the top behavior. I’m sure his fondness for Smith hasn’t increased since he subpoenaed Jared and Ivanka.

I don’t doubt for a minute that Smith would give Biden, Obama and all of the others the same treatment, had they committed the same crimes. No doubt whatsoever.

This is what has Trump’s goat, apparently. He links to this article in his post, so something here is pushing his buttons, or one of his staffers posted this. USA Today:

Penalties for mishandling documents vary greatly. Biden, Trump and Pence face no charges. Retired Gen. David Petraeus, who led the war in Afghanistan and headed the CIA, was fined and not jailed for a misdemeanor for his infractions. But lower-level workers and contractors were sentenced to months or years in prison for felonies that lawyers argued were less egregious violations than Petraeus and others.

The hoard of classified documents FBI agents found in Harold Martin’s Cape Cod-style home, shed and car in Glen Burnie, Maryland, revealed what his lawyer called two sides of the same government contractor.

Martin was a Navy veteran with one of the highest security clearances, called top secret for sensitive compartmented information (TS/SCI). He then became a contractor for government agencies including the National Security Agency from 1993 to 2016, according to court records.

But he was also an acknowledged binge drinker who owned 10 guns his wife didn’t know about, including a loaded handgun on the floor of his teal Chevy Caprice, an AR-15-style rifle and a shotgun, according to court records.

“You have someone who presents themselves as two different people,” public defender James Wyda told a judge in the case, with “some serious mental health issues going on here.”

Martin eventually got sentenced to nine years in prison. Maybe Trump is identifying with him because he has serious mental health issues going on, although I doubt it. That would require more self-awareness than Trump has.

Now onto the next treasure on Truth Social. There’s an article in American Thinker (I’m not going to link to it and increase their traffic, you can easily find it) which titillates Trump, because it puts him basically in the company of the luminaries on Mt. Rushmore, where he is convinced he belongs.

Of the 46 presidents of the United States, there are three that can be considered indispensable to the nation’s enduring existence as a free people;  they are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Donald Trump.

Washington, without whose character and leadership the nation as we know it would not have been established; Lincoln, who preserved the Union and restored American society by abolishing slavery; and Trump, who has potentially rescued the country from an irretrievable headfirst dash into a permanent one-party socialist oligarchy eventuating in an inevitable fracturing of the Union.

Donald Trump’s inclusion on this list derives not only from his political, judicial, and legislative accomplishments but the dramatically positive impact he had on the psyche of Middle America, and initiating the transformation of a feckless Republican Party into a viable and resolute opposition — as well as the party of the average American of all races, creeds, and ethnicities.

Trump showed a nation stuck in a 28-year morass of political mediocrity and collectivism that fearlessness, determination, and an implacable conviction in the principles of the nation’s founding would defeat the elites and left-wing dominated Democrat party, their resolve to create a socialist oligarchy.

What would the landscape and future prospects for the United States be today if Donald Trump had decided not to run and Hillary Clinton was elected as the 45th president by the average margin predicted in the polls?

We will never know.

I share these two tidbits with you to show you how Trumpty Dumpty spends his day when he’s not out hitting a golf ball or eating a hamberder with his name branded into the bun. This is the mind that would seek to return to the Oval Office.

  1. What has Trump blowing the lid off the pressure cooker lately? Two words – Target Letter. Trump knows what a Target Letter is and what it means for him. Unless/until he got one he could delude himself into thinking others would pay for his misdeeds but that Smith/the feds wouldn’t actually go after HIM directly. That once again he’d skate. But getting a Target Letter which would contain a broad set of what the government was looking at charging him for would be truly terrifying for Trump. Because he knows, he KNOWS if things have gotten to that point momentum will carry the matter forward all the way into a courtroom. So that’s what I think is going on. Smith has already notified Trump via Target Letter he’s the principle subject of a criminal investigation and in practical terms that means prosecutors already have enough to file charges. It’s a “courtesy” to a target that they’d better get their shit together and (well) lawyered up because the dudes with steel bracelets are coming. (Given Trump’s guilty of different crimes, perhaps he’s gotten more than one Target Letter. ?)

    • As I said, only Trump knows what he has done and he doesn’t know how much of that Jack Smith knows. And Smith may only know the tip of the iceberg. Who can say? Nobody knew Trump had absconded with all those classified files until last September and the archivists had moved heaven and earth to get it back. We might have more earthshaking discoveries like that ahead.

    • You could be right. About the only missives that I believe are directly from Trump are the meltdowns where he posts 10-15 angry messages in a row. Other than that, who knows who’s running his account?

  3. There aren’t enough three letter words like bad, sad, and mad, which shows dumpy didn’t write squat. Oh, and having read pulizer prize winning books on Washington, it’s clear to me he’d had Trump executed for treason. He didn’t tolerate a coward, especially one that sides with an enemy of the republic.

  4. LOCK HIM UP!! Wake me when the mugshots and perpwalks begin. Which one of us average citizens wouldn’t already be locked up after having done what he did? Election interference, inciting an insurrection, fraud and treason. Why aren’t the fake electors in jail? Why didn’t the capital police shoot the violent insurrectionists? Crazy. What are laws without enforcement? Anarchy that’s what.
