Nobody is sure how to call the shot on this one. Donald Trump’s latest smoke and mirrors routine is to do a late filing Monday afternoon with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida protesting the “unAmerican Break-In by dozens of FBI agents” of Mar-a-Lago two weeks ago.
Trump is demanding that the DOJ stop the review of documents which were seized when the search warrant was executed and he is demanding “the appointment of a SPECIAL MASTER to oversee the handling of the materials taken in the raid.” (I am getting this from Truth Social, if you want to bop over there and see Trump’s latest edict.)
Now the obvious question is, what idiot on his legal team advised him to to do this? Is this Rudy’s work? Rudy doesn’t have a license to practice in Florida — or anywhere at the moment but that’s beside the point.
We can’t find evidence of Rudy being involved in this — yet — and so far it looks like Trump is his own lawyer. Do you love it?

There are attorneys on a motion, though.
So what is going on here?
Is this a publicity stunt by Trump? Or some kind of administrative snafu? Or did the attorneys file the motion without first appearing / being admitted for the case?
This is highly unusual, to say the least.

Now this is my favorite. This is by Ken White, who is a former federal prosecutor. Popehat is his Twitter account.
Seriously tho if an associate drafted this motion I wouldn't fire them. That would be cruel. I would kill them and then dump their body in that service elevator lobby where we leave boxes sometimes

Do you love it? Death would be the only appropriate remedy for the associate who drafted this. Say, maybe it was Jared? I do recall that Jared got himself a law degree. Wonder how much Daddy had to spend to have somebody take his exams?
Also, if I DID take two weeks to file it, with the greatest respect, it wouldn't look like this. This is just bad.

Finally, I think it's fair to say I don't have a LOT of shame, but I have enough that I wouldn't file a motion arguing that my client took an official legal position the court should have noticed on Truth Social.

What this lawyer doesn’t get, Trump must not have sent him the memo, is that Truth Social is a wondrous mechanism in jurisprudence these days. Why Trump has left notes on Truth Social, “Truths” as he calls them, and by posting of that Truth that day, he expects the entire legal community of the country to take heed and do what he wants them to do, as specified in the Truth.
I guess we’ll see where this goes. Another day, another bizarre legal maneuver.

I truly can’t stand this POS…..There he is in his “blue suit, white shirt, red tie” uniform!!! Doesn’t he own any other suits??? :/
Somebody told him blue is slimming on him.
A delaying tactic. Even a special master wouldn’t let him off the hook. The filter team already returned his passports, if there is anything else mixed in he will get it back in due time.
I’d like to see a copy of that motion. General practice for an attorney(s) is to FIRST THING do something known legally as “File their Appearance”, as in put their name(s) on any court filing starting at the very beginning, and when in front of an actual judge before being allowed to speak on behalf of said client hand a completed form to the judge’s clerk stating their name/firm, the case #, name of the client etc. and the client of course will have needed to sign it saying “Yes, this person is authorized to represent me in this matter.” It’s a simple, one page form in damned near every court.
I don’t know that any state has a law stating a client can’t write their own brief and claim in it the work is their own, but even though lawyers are loathe to discipline other lawyers putting your name on a filing that you allowed a dumbass like Trump to write or dictate (dick-head-tate?) to you isn’t the path to a successful legal career. In fact, in a high profile case the scorn a piece of shit filing with you name on it reflects badly enough on a profession that ranks down there with Nazi concentration camp oven operator might just decide they don’t want you as a member of their state bar.
But hey, I always say I take my entertainment where I can find it and this might well prove highly entertaining!

this ignorant a-hole isn’t qualified to manage a hot dog stand
😛
He’d have trouble running a lemonade stand in Phoenix in August. At a shopping center.
Trump wants to represent himself. I say let’s declare this a national holiday.

Trump moves a motion.
Get ready for complaints of how long it takes to flush.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN SAID: A man who represents himself, has a fool for a client.
He actually has a local lawyer who signed this, and two out-of-Florida lawyers (who misfiled their pro hac vice motions because they didn’t follow the instructions).
