As the old saying goes, You just can’t make this shit up. The last three days have been the nightmare scenario that the new GOP House leadership has been fearing. For 3 days now, they have looked like a bunch of kindergarteners when the teacher leaves the room to go use the bathroom. And the Democrats have been loving it to death, even bringing bags of popcorn into the chamber to munch on while they watch the GOP roll around like a bunch of cats in a sack on the way to the river.

But even in this slow moving Trumpster fire, there are always opportunities for levity. But only if it’s the House GOP that provides it, the democrats are already rolling around in the aisles laughing their asses off. But the House GOP is nothing if not feckless, so of course they provided it.

On the last ballot for House Speaker today, Teeny hustler Sugar Daddy Matt Gaetz took to the floor to pay the ultimate homage insult to Kevin McCarthy, he placed the name of Donald J Trump into nomination to be the Speaker of the House. Obviously, general hilarity to follow.

They held the roll call vote. And is it any amazement to anyone that when the vote was completed, Trump got a grand total of one vote, cast by Sugar Daddy Gaetz. But the ultimate insult came when the House Clerk announced the vote totals. When she read out The Honorable Donald J Trump from Florida received one vote, easily noticeable and derisive laughter erupted from the floor of the House.

But apparently the Clueless Wonder of Mar-A-Lago wasn’t in on the joke. He loved the homage that was paid to him by Gaetz. To the point that he actually posted a cheaply photo shopped image of himself sitting in the Squealers chair behind President Joe Biden, and next to Vice President Kamala Harris. I even went so far as to befoul my laptop by going to Truth Social to look for it to show you, but I couldn’t find it. MSNBC showed it though, and it was hysterical.

This should be a bright, flashing red light for Traitor Tot as to his waning influence in the halls of the GOP. Trump’s entire persona as Kingmaker in the GOP is based on his death grip of the GOP conference. But it has been reported that earlier this week Trump went phone banking to the House

Freedom caucus, pushing for McCarthy to get the Speakership, and they tossed him double barrel birds. And now a faithful toad actually nominated him for the Speakers post, on the 11th ballot, and is the only one to vote for him, And when his single vote tally is read by the House Clerk, the floor breaks out in laughter. Which Emperor Numbus Nuttus obviously doesn’t get, since he posts a picture of himself as Speaker.

As I wrote earlier, this GOP House debacle is no longer funny. But it appears that the ultimate joke of this process may have been Donald J Trump. And he doesn’t quite seem to have gotten the punchline. Hell, maybe he can put out another bullshit trading card as House Speaker.

  1. We are in The Twilight Zone of The Outer Limits trapped IN (not on either side but inside!) the Looking Glass. Matt Gaetz is literally TROLLING Trump now! That’s how little fear he’s got of Trump. And though he’s a complete sleaze he’s not stupid – just as someone finally explained to Trump that former SecDef James Mattis’ resignation letter wasn’t an “honor to have served” you missive but instead harsh criticism someone will wind up explaining to Trump he’s been TROLLED. Gaetz knows that and doesn’t care. That gets me to thinking of the law of unintended consequences. I like to think of myself as reasonably smart but I’m no genius. By which I mean I can’t be the only person who recognizes Gaetz TROLLED Trump because Trump no longer has the kind of power he once did. What if, as people (as in GOP Representatives-Elect) having slept on the thought spend tomorrow morning thinking it’s time to reclaim their Party from the crazies? Not just Trump and MAGA nation but the Freedom Caucus and Trump ass kissers like McCarthy? And find someone willing to make this his or her last term who will run a hard-core conservative House but sideline the crazies, and gain agreement from the Democrats that if say more than a hundred Republicans vote for such a person a large chunk of Democrats (say anyone in a swing district for starters) will join them? And others – enough to get to 218. Think about it.
