Even if this piece came out Monday, it’s worth speaking about. Trump is displeased. Trump’s SCOTUS isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do, which is to greenlight anything and everything he wants. We should be pleased that they tell him no. Congress won’t. There isn’t anyone else who has the power to make something stick. That means the Supreme Court is our only hope because Congress is quite happy to have Trump stomp all over them, that being those in the Republican majority. And Congress backed down on the War Powers restraints. But this isn’t a lecture on what Congress is or isn’t doing. We would like them to remember how good it felt to be almost totally unified on Epstein.
Republicans are looking ahead to midterms. Trump does not want to help with midterms. He’s going to be crabby for a while, with the Iran War, all the hoo-rah about Natalie, and now SCOTUS said nope.
The nation’s highest court just delivered President Donald Trump a final, humiliating loss, and there’s nowhere left for him to run, according to one legal expert. On Monday, the Supreme Court rejected Trump’s last-ditch bid to reconsider his appeal in writer E. Jean Carroll’s sexual abuse case, locking in a jury’s finding that he assaulted her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the mid-1990s and then defamed her. The one-sentence order came with no explanation and no noted dissents. The justices had already turned him away once, back in June. He asked them to think again. They said no — again.
There isn’t anything else he can do. He has to pay her. It is carved in stone that he sexually abused and defamed her. Last we knew, the second judgment was still working through the appeal process, so it will take time to see the results of that. We also don’t know if the felon case is still on appeal. Another article mentioned he is going to try to ‘blackmail’ SCOTUS into getting the ballroom construction going again. The bunker is mostly finished, but he is still, day after day, fussing about the tacky ground floor. He probably hasn’t thought about parking for 999 guests, if he can even get that many.
He’s going to try to get SCOTUS to do what he wants. Most of it will work. For once, we need them to ignore Trump to make him wait until everything has gone through the lower courts. He’s still trying to use the possible missile attack, where he left all the members of his cabinet and photographers, although Natalie went with him. Please let them say no again. “His” court or not, it must get frustrating to have to deal with all his whining and crying. Just say no. Trump will have to live with the disappointment.
Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

For once, the Supremes had a unanimous decision! Will wonders never cease?!?
