Not sure what to make of this one. This is a Newsmax clip of Trump talking today in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You saw some clips in a piece here earlier today of him in Waterloo, Iowa. This one is pretty wild. He confuses the actor Anthony Hopkins with the role he played, Hannibal Lecter, in Silence Of The Lambs. That’s a rookie mistake I wouldn’t have expected from Mr. Showbiz Trump. He supposedly knows all the important actors, has been invited to all the important parties. But here he is.

I have searched for this event and I can’t find it. Which isn’t to say that Hopkins never said it, it’s just unlikely that he did. He made it clear in a Facebook post that he doesn’t vote and he’s apolitical.

In an interview with Brad Pitt for Interview Magazine, Hopkins brought up the the subject of people asking him about “present situations.”

He stated,”People ask me questions about present situations in life, and I say, “I don’t know, I’m just an actor. I don’t have any opinions.”

He added, “Actors are pretty stupid. My opinion is not worth anything. There’s no controversy for me, so don’t engage me in it, because I’m not going to participate.” […]

The actor, though Welsh-born became a naturalized U.S. Citizen back in 2000, hasn’t been active in political life as a new citizen.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2018, Hopkins stated, “I don’t vote because I don’t trust anyone. We’ve never got it right, human beings. We are all a mess, and we’re very early in our evolution.”

While he might not be involved politically he did have some opinions about money and corporate power, “In America, they’re obsessed with healthy food. They tell you, if you eat junk food, you get fat and you die. Well, television is run by money and corporate power and sponsorship. It’s junk food for the brain. Toxic.”

If Hopkins knows enough to know that so much of TV is junk food, I have to believe he knows that Trump is junk food. Maybe not. I’ll keep searching for the reference. If somebody here finds it first — assuming it exists outside of Trump’s fantasy life — let us know and we’ll update this piece.

  1. Another Trump delusion…..never happened.

The only reference I can find even remotely similar is Oliver Stone, who directed Hopkins in the past, stated that he (Stone) “loves Donald Trump……in a weird kind of way……” after directing Trump through a scene in the movie “Wall Street:Money Never Sleeps”. It took nine takes and the part was edited from the final cut

  2. I know someone who met Trump about 10 years ago. Friend said that DJT was friendly and even “charming”. My response was that most sociopaths are friendly and charming. It’s how they suck people in. Charming on the surface but what’s lurking underneath is deadly.

  3. The Lincoln Project has got to exploit trump’s cognitive disorder. He thinks Hannibal Lecter loves him and he brays that his girdled, fat body is better than President Bidens. He is nuttier than a fruitcake and delusional beyond belief

    • BoB, this has been my fondest wish, that the press and everybody left of center consider the fact that tRump is, first and foremost, MENTALLY ILL!!! He has never seen a therapist, but dozens (and maybe scores) of qualified mental health professionals (Psychologists and Psychiatrists) including tRump’s own niece, have “diagnosed” him as a malignant narcissist. That’s the same diagnosis given to many serial killers: they have a sick view that they are smarter than anyone else, and they think nothing of killing people who don’t agree with them or who are perceived as standing in their way to something (anything). And malignant narcissists get a real perverse pleasure in the killing(s). The Big D is two chicken-s***t to actually kill somebody himself, but he is razor-calculated in how he “calls to arms” his cult followers and other radical crazies to do his dirty deeds for him. And perverse pleasure? How about tRump asking his rally attendees recently how Nancy Pelosi’s husband was doing “by the way,” with a sickening smirk on his face. He really belongs in a mental hospital for the criminally insane. The next people the television pundits ought to interview are forensic psychiatrists who testify at trials of this sick bunch of folks who happen to be malignant narcissists. We spend too much time speculating about tRump’s motives when they are all laid out quite clearly in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the “Bible” for mental health professionals. (A note about diagnosing people: psychologists and psychiatrists do not routine render opinions as “armchair experts.” They hold themselves to the high standard of conducting one or more sessions with a person before putting forth a diagnosis for insurance or the courts. But psychiatric experts also give their best opinions of the mental health of people in court proceedings by studying the personality, history and actions of individuals without actually meeting with them. I hope Jack Smith will be calling in some of these professionals to lend strength to arguments of Donald’s “intent” to commit crimes.)
