We truly do live in Wonderland. Not only do the words mean what you want them to mean but OMG what Donald does with the numbers. He makes truly amazing claims about numbers. And claims is all that they are. These figures do not in fact exist in any agreement between Trump and any other head of state, whether it be a written contract of some sort or even a casual conversation. Let’s look at the whopper he just told about gas.

“Three, four states. I forget. Maybe it was sixty or seventy states. Oh wait, we only have fifty to begin with? See, that’s the problem. America’s not thinking big enough. When I’m done we’ll have 120 states and counting. See how well I’m doing with making Canada go along with the idea?”

And that’s the least of it. If Trump would stop there, we would be in okay shape. But he can’t stop himself from this compulsive pathological lying. And so listen to him speak of the massive investments coming our way, massive, I tell you.

These are discussions about investments, nothing real. Here, let me put it to you this way: back in the early 80’s I worked in grade-Z movies in Hollywood. You remember Hollywood, where the motto is, “Money talks and bullshit walks?” This is all bullshit. I remember a production manager of my acquaintance once telling me, “If only 10% of the projects that I talk to people about actually happened, I would be doing great.”

In Japan’s case, that $550B figure came up in connection with people possibly investing. Possibly.Investing. And the government has no control over what private businesses decide to do. But somehow Trump got that number in his head and the way he depicts it is as a yuuuge check being made out to the Treasury just any time now. I wonder if Scott Bessent is going to cosign on these lies or how he’s going to spin this?

Saying it was a “pledge” is a bit strong. It was more along the lines of, “If this, then that,” and those conversations take place in business regularly. Nobody expects to pay the next months accounts payable with this level of “pledge” or “promise.” But Donald hears a number and he goes completely whacko.

Now remember what I said about “Money talks and bullshit walks?” This is the most truthful Donald has ever been — when for once he decides to keep his mouth shut.

Elvis has just left the building and bullshit has just walked. You saw it there before your very eyes. The only question left now is: how long before Trump’s lies become completely exposed?
