This is yet another one of those moments where if another president ever said this, the ship of state would stop dead in the water until this issue got resolved. Nobody else who has ever occupied the Oval Office has made a blatant admission like this one. And expect it to be glossed over and forgotten. Why is that? A couple of reasons: first and foremost, the mainstream media is cowed by Trump and if this clip would get the publicity that it rightfully deserves, it would be seen as an “attack” upon him, rather than merely a piece of reporting; and second, the firehose of falsehoods and fabrications in this administration is so constant that we’ve all become numb. That’s the tragedy of Trump. He has numbed us to the point where we simply don’t react to the outrageous and the unforgivable the way that we should.

We do know basically that Russell Vought and Stephen Miller are running the country. So it could conceivably be one of them. Or maybe Pete Hegseth’s wife made the decision. Who knows? Talks of shadow governments and Illuminati have been circulating for years. In the Trump era, there’s no question but that business is not being conducted normally. That’s always been the case. John Kelly used to mock Jared and Ivanka for “playing government.” So who played government with this decision? Seriously, only The Shadow knows for sure. The rest of us are asking Grok and making conjectures. (Grok says it was probably Pete Hegseth because Trump has “bigger fish to fry.” That’s a quote.)

Those are his two go-answers, “I don’t know” and “you’ll know in two weeks.” What I find comical is that if Jake Tapper is looking for a shocking tell-all, he should get cracking right now. We had some idea what was going on in Trump 1.0. We still had people like John Kelly and Mark Esper and Mark Milley; we had some adults in the room.

Now the only person who seems to be a sane adult is Dan Caine. And if I had to guess who really gave the order, I would say General Caine. I think oddsmakers would make book on that as being the most logical choice.

And of course these things are supposed to go through protocol, the chain of command, all that, but when you’ve got Trump on the golf course and the blackout drunk as SECDEF, what that boils down to is that Dan Caine will have to make all the day to day tactical decisions.

And don’t be surprised if General Caine is the one guiding the country’s policy on Ukraine and sending them arms again. It sure in hell is not Pete Hegseth. Hegseth found out that this was going on at today’s cabinet meeting. It was new information to him, just look at his face when Trump started talking about it.

And no way was it Trump. Trump does photo ops and he went through the motions of talking to Putin on the phone, but any real military decision making is being done by Dan Caine. At least that is what makes the most sense to me. Take out Occam’s Razor and that’s what you get, is that the Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is making Trump’s presidential decisions for him.

And I say good. At least Caine knows something. Certainly he knows vastly more than Trump and Hegseth put together, although that is a very modest bar to clear. But right now, that’s who made the decision and that’s who’s running the country (at least with respect to foreign policy) from all that I can conjecture.

    • He doesn’t have enough sense to realize how bad that sounds. If he had said, “I did,” there would have been no blow back.

  1. Of course he doesn’t know…he’s a phucking moron. In fact, he’s the King of Stupid, with 78 million plus energized to find out this country loves liars, rapists, traitors, pedophiles, hypocrites, and MORONS!

  2. “if I had to guess who really gave the order, I would say General Caine. I think oddsmakers would make book on that as being the most logical choice.” … “And don’t be surprised if General Caine is the one guiding the country’s policy on Ukraine and sending them arms again.”

Let me see if I’ve got this right. Gen. Caine, is (a) (probably) guiding our Ukraine policy (b) gave the order to pause the weapons shipments and (c) ordered that shipments be resumed?

If so, then why did he give the order to pause the shipments in the first place, then give another order to resume them? That doesn’t look like someone guiding our Ukraine policy. That looks like someone following someone else’s orders, at least in the first instance. Who se idea was it to pause the shipments?

    Or am I missing something?
