Ha. Another piece of proof that Trump doesn’t think. This guy, whom he approved of publicly, is not going to reflect well on him. As a matter of fact, it’s going to hurt Trump, even if only for a short time. We’ll take the hurt feefees. We’re always up for a laugh, even if this overall subject matter is serious. With gratitude to Raw Story:
A Republican candidate whom President Donald Trump endorsed for the heavily Republican 5th Congressional District of Louisiana has a problematic past, reported The Atlantic on Wednesday evening. At the start of February, Trump posted he is giving his “Complete and Total Endorsement” to Blake Miguez for that race, which prompted Miguez to shoot a video of himself from the White House, touting his close relationship with the president.
Video and everything. But there’s a but. He didn’t mention his background or what had happened. No, he just took the endorsement because he figured it would make him look good no matter what. This is one ugly skeleton coming out of his closet. We can bet he’s not happy that the door opened on it, either.
“What he did not say — either publicly or to Trump’s advisers at the time — was that there was a political bombshell about to drop on his campaign for Louisiana’s deep-red Fifth Congressional District,” said the report. “Months earlier, when Miguez was running for the U.S. Senate, a 2007 police report had surfaced that showed that Miguez’s former girlfriend had accused him of rape and other abusive behavior, including locking her in bedrooms, taking away her keys, and holding her down.”
Kazanga! Yes, that’s a distasteful skeleton. Good to know she got away from him, because that’s bullsh!t. Being attacked in any way is bullsh!t. I’m all for defending oneself, though. Oh, that being attacked bit? That goes for women as well as men. The ladies can be just as abusive as the men. That’s worse. That’s something that doesn’t occur to most people. It can happen either way.
Miguez’s campaign denies all of the allegations. However, per the report, the new revelation “has raised concerns that Miguez either wasn’t fully vetted or wasn’t forthcoming about discoverable documents from his past.” Trump himself has been accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of women, including one who won millions in a defamation suit against him, and another who claimed, as part of the investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case files, that Trump had sexual contact with her when she was 13. He has repeatedly denied all wrongdoing. This comes as the Trump-endorsed pick for Senate in North Carolina, Michael Whatley, was found to have elevated a convicted child sex offender to an important role in the state GOP.
WHAM. That’s 0 for 2 for Trumpty. These are things he wouldn’t want to have get out, since it will circle right back to Epstein. Two people are accused, one of sex offenses, and one associated with a confirmed predator. That makes my crappy, gloomy day a little bit better. It’s likely too much to hope for that they would go down hard. However, they’ve been busted, and if it makes even one person really think about a candidate, that’s worth something. We’ll take it where we can get it. Might be too much to hope for them to flip blue.
See you soon!
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise that among all those asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

Trump thinks he’s tossing him a liferaft.
But he’s tossing him an anchor, a nice heavy one.

Ooooo and a well said to you, also!
Given the mentioned sexual assaults of which Drumpf has been accused (and found guilty of in at least one very prominent case), does anyone think that he wouldn’t endorse Miguez even if Miguez’s behavior HAD been known by “the team?”
Hmm. “Miguez.” Sounds pretty Latino-y to me. Maybe someone from ICE should double-check his citizenship.
*sputter* well said, sir!
