Trump DNI Richard Grenell Furiously Tweets ‘Jason Miciak Is a Comfortable Liar’… Let’s Look at That

It is somewhat sad that it’s almost satisfying to wake up and find my Twitter feed overflowing with ultra MAGA-hatred over my article published yesterday calling out Richard Grenell for saying that Gov. Whitmer should be impeached for being overly emotional and shedding tears about the shootings at Michigan State.

Richard Grenell – Trump’s woefully unqualified Director of National Intelligence, tweeted out that I”m a liar, wait – not “just” a liar, but a “comfortable” one. Funny, neither accusation is true. Single dads who make a living writing are seldom comfortable, and I don’t lie:

Now, the first thing to note is that he didn’t attach the article from yesterday. Perhaps it is because a link would have shown his followers that I took his exact words straight from his own interview. Specifically:

“Look, you had Congresswoman Slotkin in tears. You had Governor Gretchen Whitmer in tears. Both of them are completely emotional, off the rails going to a far-left progressive idea that somehow they and government must act to protect our kids.

To which I wrote: “Yeah, absolutely crazy.”

And we’ll cut down lower, his words italicized and bolded:

“She’s out there crying about the fact that we’re not protecting kids, yet telling people that the only way to protect kids is to take away guns when she has the ability to put armed guards at every single school, including Michigan State.

To which, I wrote:

Ah, we reach the GOP sin qua non. The one thing that isn’t a solution is regulating guns. The only solution is to add more guns. And, by the way, I’m sure Michigan State, being one of the country’s largest universities, has an extremely competent campus police force.

I am quite tempted to call the Chief of Michigan State’s campus police and ask about their readiness plans for mass shootings just to confirm that there are plenty of armed guards at the school.

But here are Grenell’s exact words:

“She should be impeached for being way too emotional and unable to really look at issues to solve issues. She’s out there crying at a press conference instead of doing good work.

As I said yesterday, it’s the perfect example of anti-woke alpha male misogyny. He said, “She should be impeached for being way too emotional” and “she is out there crying instead of doing good work.”

I wrote that Grenell said Whitmer should be impeached for shedding tears at a news conference and then laid Grenell’s own words for the reader to interpret however one wants. It sure sounded to me like Grenell was saying Whitmer’s emotions – tears – interfere with her ability to solve problems (so misogynistic), and thus, she should be impeached.

Grenell says that Whitmer is blaming others without any sort of citation to what she said. I will correct that by putting Gretchen’s emotional statement in the link and the video below. She didn’t blame anyone, saying only that we must “act” – without more. It was a time for grieving on campus, not lobbying for certain regulatory changes, which is where the ultimate divide lies.

I do not doubt that Grenell wants to stop mass shootings. He is not a monster, but his judgment seems clouded by his hatred of Whitmer.

Grenell says it’s a “far-left idea” that government should protect kids and then turns right around and blames Whitmer for not using the government to protect kids, saying she needs to put armed guards at schools. It seems like we’ve given the “More Guns” solution far too many chances to prove its efficacy, and hasn’t worked, whereas stricter gun control has not been tried… except in every other self-respecting country on Earth.

Ironically, this particular instance especially cries out for a close look at our current gun regulations. From KMVT.com:

The 9 mm guns, dozens of rounds of ammunition and the two-page note were found with Anthony McRae when he killed himself Monday night after being confronted by police, said deputy campus police chief Chris Rozman…

McRae’s father, who shared the house, told police that “his son does not have any friends,” Gonzalez said. “He pretty much sat in his room most of the time.”

… McRae had a misdemeanor gun conviction in 2019, though it didn’t bar him from having the handguns. “They were purchased legally by the shooter, but they were not registered,” Rozman said.

So, a 43-year-old man who lives with his parents, a person who “has no friends,” but does have a misdemeanor gun offense? The MAGAs, Richard, always place mental illness front and center in mass shootings. So, I would ask Richard – who I hope is listening, isn’t this the guy that we want to keep from legally purchasing handguns? And if we stop this type of person from owning handguns through background checks, waiting periods, and many other sensible ideas used everywhere else on earth, Michigan wouldn’t need to hire 50,000 armed guards for every school, every public event, etc. Or do I have that wrong?

But getting back to the original question, or at least Grenell’s accusation. There is a reason Grenell didn’t link the article. It is because I laid out his own words and drew out the logical conclusion. Grenell’s hatred for Whitmer is palpable (Same with his followers), and he believes she’s hopelessly incompetent, in part because she’s overly emotional (his words). He wants her “impeached” just months after winning reelection by 11 points. It would seem that a large majority of Michiganders disagree.

I didn’t lie, Richard. You’re fully entitled to believe what you want about Whitmer and convince others to join you. Today, I noted that you, too, want mass shootings stopped, and am not calling you names. But don’t call me a liar while not linking your exact words and my exact response. Armed guards are part of the solution. We call them “police.” But once a man like this gets a gun, well – three people can die quite easily, even with an armed guard 30 feet away, and you know it.

My email address is below if you want to discuss it with civility. I always put my name to my work, use citations, and provide contact information. I’ll cop to some gratuitous cheap shots, but not about the underlying truth.

Here is Whitmer’s statement, the one in which she’s “incompetent” for being overly emotional.

  1. He’s a member of the Guns Over People party so with 400 million guns on the street he wants more? Yeah more police will save the children just like it did when over a dozen stood by with kids being killed in Uvalde and terrified children placed 911 calls before being shot to death. Jason, the only thing I can observe is you’re being more than fair with this supporter of child killers. Hey asshat. If you read this…go fuck your nazi self. I cry also every goddamn time not only for these dead kids but for all the people young and old left behind to carry this pain for The Rest Of Their Lives!!!!! Again fuck you!

    • These ass-hats do not read/watch/listen to anything that makes them think. If they did, they’d realize their actions are those of murderers and therefore their supposed “pro life” stance is just so much hot air.

Sad thing is there are more than 400 million guns out there and I feel safe in saying the majority of those guns are in the hands of the ass hats. Sure, some of us have firearms for target and hunting uses but damned few I suspect. The ass hats, after all, have bought into the whole everyone is out to get you narrative and seem to think owning more firearms than can be used at one time will somehow save them when the shit hits the fan.

    • Jesus wept at the news of Lazarus’s death. Do you suppose that he is probably too emotional to fix the gun problem in the US. The end is coming, be sure of that. And who’s to blame. The NRA and the MAGA gun totters who when asked for solutions to their overwhelming need to be even better and better armed with their favorite toys, They offer stupid catch phrases to make the problem seem like everyone else’s bad behavior is to blame. Soon the left will rise up and demand government intervention and then it will happen. Wait for it.

  2. I would like to know who would be paying for all of these armed guards? Is it added to the tuition bill? Property taxes? I’m sure the asshat has not worked that minor detail out yet.

    • It is added to the tuition bill certainly but some funds coming from the state help. Kind of depends on how taxes are done in the state. Some states apply some of the sales tax revenues to things like education, some states don’t have a sales tax so income and property taxes help. Since tuition constantly increases, I’d say less and less is coming from state coffers and more is coming out of student pockets.

  3. Mazal tov Jason. You’ve earned the enmity of Trumpie fucking morons like this POS! For that, I say a hale and hearty Mazal Tov to you my dear Mr. Miciak! Well earned and deserved. May all of us earn their stupid, jack-ass racist, mysoginistic comments every day!
