Unfortunately. The man is somewhat following in Trump’s footsteps. He lies. This is a good one. And Trump thinks he’ll have a better chance than Cornyn? Well, he did win the primary, but from there it’s been all downhill. He’s a sleaze. Just what Texas wants, right? He’ll make a good companion for Ted Cruz. What a disaster. Best not to theorize on what I was about to say. With appreciation for Raw Story:

Ken Paxton, President Donald Trump’s scandal-plagued pick in the Texas Senate race, boasted that more than 700 people turned out for his first and only campaign rally — but got factchecked on the real number of attendees. The Texas attorney general hosted a rally at the University Draft House in McAllen, Texas, which had a “modest audience, topping off at 100 attendees,” myRGV.com reported.

And never the twain shall meet, it seems. There’s quite a distance between “over 700” and “modest about 100”. Ken must be taking lessons from Trump on how to tell “big whopper lies”. Surprised he got any people at the rally at all, considering his reputation precedes him. Ick.

In a post on X, Paxton’s campaign claimed 763 people were at the event. But according to myRGV.com, the location has a building occupancy of only 150 to 200 people. The outlet referred to the crowd aspredominantly older, with a few youthful exceptions.” The Republican’s opponent, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate and state representative James Talarico, has reportedly drawn larger crowds across the Lone Star State.

Aw, yea. Talarico has the potential to kick Ken’s arse. It’s going to be a fight down to the wire, but wouldn’t it be awesome if Talarico won? Not only would we flip a seat, but it would be in *Texas*. Heads will roll if Paxston loses. In the meantime, Cornyn is going to sit back and watch. And laugh. People of Texas: think about your vote because Ken is slime. He won’t do any more good for you than Cruz will. Come to the Dark Side. We don’t bite. Much.

See you soon!

. Friends, I know everybody begs you for money. I promise you that, of all the outlets bugging you for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest-working. We’re a bunch of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. But the rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the ability to continue our quest to tell the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

  1. “Heads will roll if Paxston [sic] loses.”

Well, I’m not sure whose heads will be rolling since there are only two people responsible: Paxton and Drumpf.

And neither one of them will admit it was their fault. (They’ll probably blame Biden.)

But even before I read the fact-check about the capacity of the venue, I fact-checked it for myself. The AI overview reads “The University Draft House in McAllen, located at 100 W. Highway 83, has a total legal maximum venue capacity of 414 people. The largest single event space at this location, which is the upstairs covered patio, accommodates up to 150 guests.”

    • Oh, and, for what it’s worth, you have to wonder why Paxton chose this venue since the City of McAllen has a total population exceeding 140 THOUSAND people? Even *if* his claim of 700 was correct, that still only represents 1/2 of 1% of the city’s total population (of course, it would likely be a larger percentage of the voting age population but still seems like an awfully small venue–something more for the likes of either a local band or an act that hasn’t cracked the big time yet or is years past their gravy era).
