I think Trumpty Dumpty is just doing a muscle flex here and I think it will blow up in his face, like everything else has this week. His shill, Kakistocracy Karoline Levitt, issued a propaganda edict press statement from the White House and it was the usual twisting of fact that you would expect. In fact, I think that tonight’s show is because Trump desperately needs to detract from today’s awful (offal?) headlines about impeachment, the space program, Elon, and even J.D. Vance making him look bad.
“In the wake of this violence, California’s feckless Democrat leaders have completely abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens,” Leavitt said. “That is why President Trump has signed a Presidential Memorandum deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to address the lawlessness that has been allowed to fester,” Leavitt said.
Nothing has been “allowed to fester” other than your malignant and incurable stupidity and mendacity, Karoline. Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass have it handled and so does the L.A.P.D. Having lived in Los Angeles for forty years I can tell you that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen demonstrations and this is not analogous to the Rodney King riots or anything even close. I know, because I had to flee the office I was working in the afternoon the riots started and head west in gridlock traffic. But those are the images you will be fed by Trump and his right-wing media cronies, even if they have to go back into the archives and find riot footage that has nothing to do with the demonstration in Los Angeles.
In a statement Saturday, ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons faulted local officials, including LA Mayor Karen Bass, and police for their response to the situation on Friday evening.
“What took place in Los Angeles yesterday was appalling,” Lyons said. “As rioters attacked federal ICE and law enforcement officers on the LA streets, Mayor Bass took the side of chaos and lawlessness over law enforcement.”
Lyons’ statement went on to say: “Our brave officers were vastly outnumbered, as over 1,000 rioters surrounded and attacked a federal building. It took over two hours for the Los Angeles Police Department to respond, despite being called multiple times. The brave men and women of ICE were in Los Angeles arresting criminal illegal aliens including gang members, drug traffickers and those with a history of assault, cruelty to children, domestic violence, robbery, and smuggling.
The LAPD issued a statement later on Saturday denying the ICE director’s claims, saying its response was delayed, in part, because federal authorities had deployed chemical irritants into the crowd of protesters.
“Contrary to the claim that LAPD delayed its response for over two hours, our personnel mobilized and acted as swiftly as conditions safely allowed,” the statement said. “Our response time was impacted by significant traffic congestion, the presence of demonstrators, and, notably, by the fact that federal agents had deployed irritants into the crowd prior to LAPD’s arrival. This created a hazardous environment for responding officers. Within 55 minutes of receiving the call, we began to disperse the hostile and riotous crowd.”
Again, I’ve seen “hostile and riotous crowds” and burning and looting and we’re not there. But don’t think for a moment that Trump wouldn’t love things to go out of control, maybe even get to where the National Guard was firing on civilians. If you think Trump won’t do it, you must have forgotten this.

“Shoot them in the legs or something,” like that’s nothing, like crippling people for life is a routine thing to do. But, we are in a situation now where the question is raised, again, how far will Trump go? And will the National Guard or anybody else follow an illegal order? But what you need to know here is that ICE and Homeland Security are in open opposition to both Newsom and Bass.
The Department of Homeland Security said the targeting of law enforcement in Los Angeles is “despicable.”
“Mayor Bass, ICE is not responsible for ‘sowing a sense of terror’ the protestors YOU enabled are,” DHS said.
The Mayor is not “targeting law enforcement.” But we live in a topsy turvy world where the sitting *president* has reasons for stirring the pot and riling people up so that he can polarize us more than we already are. Trump desperately needs to incite rage and fear right now, because only by having people living in terror and deciding that martial law is the only answer, can he seize power in the manner that he would truly love to, by force. And especially in California.
Can’t wait for a Democratic governor to deny Dump the use of that state’s National Guard and block entry to red state stormtroopers.
Newsome should issue a statement that he will NOT authorize any members of the California National Guard to obey any UNLAWFUL order issued by Drumpf directing troops that NEWSOME had not requested to “maintain” order and will, in fact, sanction the ARREST AND DEPORTATION (back to their respective home states) of ANY Guardsmen who do arrive in LA or any other part of California.
And, that should ANY citizen of the State of California be injured because of ANY Guard action done on Drumpf’s behalf, the State of California will hold everyone in the Drumpf Administration personally responsible for the costs of those injuries and should ANY citizen die because of Drumpf’s attempted dictatorial actions, then the State of California will immediately begin CRIMINAL proceedings accusing Drumpf of WAR CRIMES AGAINST THE CITIZENS OF HIS OWN COUNTRY.
