I do find it amusing, however, that the movie “2,000 Mules” which brought a belly laugh to Bill Barr of all people, will be introduced as evidence in Trump’s “criminal trial.” Which one? He didn’t say.

I’m not a lawyer by any stretch of the imagination but I’m wondering exactly WHICH one of his trials has anything to do with the election itself? Sure, the indictment brought over the Jan 6 insurrection is tangentially related to the election but the charges are based on the actions he took AFTER the election, notably trying to prevent the duly-authorized transfer of power. He had a full month to pursue any claims about a rigged election but his lawyers insisted on presenting evidence only AFTER they got in court (which–as far as I’m aware–is NOT how courts deal with evidence; the stuff has to be presented before a court date can be set to ensure the “evidence” does actually merit being presented in court during the actual trial) and so every single court slapped down every single one of the attempted lawsuits.
At any rate, the film itself wouldn’t be sufficient; ALL of the sources that were used would have to be scrutinized to ensure the footage in the film hadn’t been doctored or manipulated (which it was as everyone with a functional brain cell would know or, at least, suspect given the “film maker”).

I don’t know what the rules of evidence are on that side of the pond but over here I do believe that any filmed ‘evidence’ is only admissible if the guy who made it goes on the stand for cross-examination.
