Let’s just say this much, before the upcoming cyber attack, or the next 9/11, or whatever the return punch from Iran is going to look like: Trump is begging for it. The tragic part is that no matter what happens, he won’t be on the receiving end of what he is now inciting. You or me or somebody innocent will be. Trump has the Secret Service protecting him and no matter what, he’ll get his food, gas, cash, medical attention, whatever. It’s the rest of us that are going to pay for this unspeakable stupidity.
Trump is upset that the Ayatollah isn’t grateful to him for saving his life and says, “As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie.”

Look at it this way: It’s not a good idea in any culture to call a man a liar, or to mock his title with the words so-called and quotation marks. But certain cultures take these things a bit more seriously than others. It’s well known that there are Muslim countries where if you steal a loaf of bread from the wrong person, you could get your hand amputated. But Trump doesn’t seem to know this. And the problem, as stated, is that his hand won’t be the one chopped off. It’s going to be the hand, either metaphorically or literally, of the yous and mes.

You don’t need to study psychiatry in Vienna to know that the writer of that tweet has problems. I seriously can’t believe that Susie Wiles is letting him post material like that. And we’re not even six months in and look at the havoc being wreaked with foreign policy.

This is the comment that is going to come back to haunt Trump, I predict. This assuring Khamenei that he would be pushing up daisies, but for the largesse, the noblesse oblige of Donald Trump, is going to be something that we will all regret. This is so far off the walls that your first instinct is that it must be parody. But it’s not. Trump has managed to do self-parody in a manner that eclipses Andy Borowitz, John Oliver, anybody you can think of. Looky here, there’s more to the tweet. OMFG.
US Evidence Exhibit 8647.
That is one fantastic screed. That would get you or me put in a strait jacket. And you want to know what would REALLY get you put in a strait jacket? If in the year 2014, you had a vision of what the world would be like from summer of 2015 to summer of 2025. Just think about it. We were all lulled into our liberal stupor in the last few years of the Era of Obama. All was good in the world, all seemed possible for the future — including the first woman president or the first Jewish president, to follow the first Black president. And look at the direction we took.
Talk about the road not taken. Any way you cut it, had Hillary been elected or had Bernie taken the nomination and been elected (and in all truth, I have to say, I believe Bernie would have beaten Trump) we would be someplace very different. Where, I cannot predict. But we emphatically would not have lost 1.1 million Americans to COVID, people like Anthony Fauci would not have needed Joe Biden’s preemptive pardon, the insurrection at the Capitol obviously would still be in the realm of fiction, and we could sit here for days, ticking off insane event after insane event.
George Bernard Shaw famously said, “The longer I live, the more convinced am I, that other planets use this planet as a lunatic asylum.”

“(and in all truth, I have to say, I believe Bernie would have beaten Trump)”
All I can say is that *this* Democratic voter would have had DEEP reservations about voting for a man who couldn’t even be bothered to JOIN the very Party for which he wanted to be the Presidential candidate.
And, as much as I understand political reality and know that when a Democrat casts a “protest” vote, it’s effectively the same as voting for the GOP candidate, I would not have felt the least bit “guilty” of “helping” a Drumpf victory. Sanders was trying to STEAL the Democratic nomination. If he’d really had the courage of his “convictions,” he would’ve made a run as an Independent–just as he’s done in his political career in Vermont. All through his 2016 run, he kept putting off any discussion of, you know, joining the Party whose nomination he was seeking. Even through the spring primaries, he kept pushing aside talk of actually becoming a Democrat, finally only saying he would actually join the Party *IF* he won the convention floor vote. When he obviously lost, he SWORE that he would run ALL FUTURE RACES as a Democrat but he just couldn’t become a Democrat since “the people of Vermont had elected him as an Independent” and he felt it wasn’t right for him to join a Party. But, he would run for reelection in 2018 as a Democrat–that was a promise. Until 2018, when he once again forswore any party allegiance and ran as an Independent.
Then, the scumbucket had the audacity to make another attempt at the Democratic nomination WITHOUT JOINING THE PARTY in 2020.
At least Drumpf made the show of joining the GOP before making his first Presidential run. (Of course, after he got the nomination, he began remaking the Party in his image–as dictators are wont to do. But that’s another issue.)
I am completely aware of Bernie’s shortcomings and I vividly remember the schism in the party in 2016. My sole point is that I do believe he could have beaten Trump. The Democrats may have nominated the “better” candidate (and I put that in quotes because better can mean more qualified) but if the candidate can’t win, what good is being better? I think that sometimes the tactical decision is the one to make, not the pure one.
In any event, I don’t want to reopen the 2016 can of worms and relitigate that mess. I think Bernie could have beaten Trump. I could be wrong. Hillary had too much baggage and she never had Bill’s charisma. Hillary was a fine candidate, but I think the wrong candidate for the moment.
Bernie headed a populist movement, so did Trump and we would be a hell of a lot better off with the worst Democrat, over Trump.
Much of international law has yet to be written. However it IS illegal for the head of state of one country to order the assassination of another. I’ll bet Trumpty was tempted. But he also has delusions of grandeur about a Nobel Peace Prize and wanted to strut his stuff at the annual NATO summit. Which this year happened to be being held in The Netherlands. Hmmm. What else is there? The Hague and the International Criminal Court!
Had we bombed Khameni’s location and killed him it would have been a war crime under international law. Imagine the spectacle of Trump not being allowed to leave the country, at least until he’d been arraigned!
I recall a Dave Barry humor column from back in the 1980s about Reagan’s “oops” on this with Ghadaffi/Libya. We bombed his palace and someone clued Reagan in about the criminality of the act so they made a HUGE deal about very specifically NOT having any intention to harm Libya’s leader! Anyway that’s probably why Trump didn’t let our planes aim a smart bomb at Khameni.
He’s still the D.E.I. candidate.
No other country has elected anyone as obviously mentally handicapped.
IT’S NOT FAIR. “as a man of great faith, he’s not supposed to lie” implies “BUT I AM”!!! since we have good reason to doubt that T is a man of any faith other than in himself
When will we dispatch a this asshole?
