A Ford “Lightning” electric F-150 tore through a packed Bourbon Street New Years’ crowd at approximately 3:30 this morning, killing at least ten of the folks enjoying the festive holiday and injuring dozens more.
Well, we certainly didn’t get very far into the New Year before being shocked by another bloody mass murder on America’s streets.
And we did not have long to wait before being assaulted by the GOP schlock disinformation machine to crank up, with Fox News breathlessly reporting, then retracting, that the truck had been driven over the Mexican border earlier in the day and fishwife and rumor monger Donald Trump blaming the incident on immigrants…

Back in the real world, it is now being reported that the killer, whose name I will withhold, was a native of Houston, Texas who rented the truck from another Houstonian:
“At least 10 people were killed and dozens were injured when a man drove around barricades and hurtled down Bourbon Street in New Orleans’ French Quarter in “very intentional behavior,” as New Year’s revelers were celebrating early on Wednesday, New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said.
“He was hellbent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did,” Kirkpatrick said.
The FBI said it is investigating the incident “as an act of terrorism.”
The deadly attack unfolded at about 3:15 a.m. local time when a man drove a pickup truck into a crowd, killing at least 10 people and injuring dozens of others.
He then exited the vehicle — a Ford pick-up truck — and fired upon local law enforcement, the FBI said, adding that the truck appears to have been rented. Two law enforcement officers were injured and transported to a local hospital.
The suspect was struck by police fire and declared dead at the scene, the New Orleans Police Department said.
“This man was trying to run over as many people as he could,” said Kirkpatrick, adding that two police officers were hit by gunfire but were in a stable condition.“
Apparently the assailant was in possession of a black flag like those flown by the terrorist organization ISIS and also has an Arabic name, so we will undoubtedly have to troll the twisted depths of the MAGA mindset before arriving at a motive for the attack.
And also undoubtedly, President Elect motormouth will have a lot more to say, even after being shown how wrong he is…

Needless to say we as a people deserve more from our elected officials than baselessly spreading misinformation and fomenting hatred.
But this is who we have…
If you think about it, this is pretty much all they have. Lies. Innuendo. Disinformation. Misinformation. The problem I think the millions of us who know better have is how in the hell do we counter this without wearing ourselves out? And accepting that each one of these is just the current shiny object.
All to divert attention away from them and their despicable acts.
