This, of course, is no surprise. However, this little goof is worth talking about just for a minute or three. We are discussing Trump, if you hadn’t figured that out already, but we know you have. This is not nearly as bad as the speech for the Navy. *That* was really embarrassing. Ursula covered that yesterday. Our president, babbling his train of thought, was even worse than usual. But right now, from The Daily Beast via Raw Story:
President Donald Trump gushed over his Pentagon chief’s Friday morning appearance on Fox News — but sharp-eyed observers questioned the state of his cognitive health, noting there was no such appearance. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, “Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was great on Fox News this morning.” [and a bit more] But as The Daily Beast noted, Hegseth, whose title remains secretary of Defense, was traveling Friday and never appeared on the conservative network. Instead, the president appeared to be fooled as the network showed a clip Hegseth shared on his X account. That video was posted on Thursday, taken down, and reposted on Friday.
Hello??!! Earth to Trump?? What planet are you on, because this, as everyone can see, is flat out wrong? Good grief. And he insists that he’s “perfect”, according to his doctors. Yea no. Ursula also wrote about that yesterday. What’s both strange and worrisome is that he sees himself as being “Big Man Tough President”. He doesn’t remember his flubs. This is part of the dementia, that he can’t remember anything he says 30 seconds later. Quote: “Memory loss, especially for recent events”. Every day, the world laughs more and more. Our allies are abandoning us. Those of us who know he’s nuts then cringe more and more.
Independent journalist Aaron Rupar wrote on X, “Pete Hegseth was not on Fox News this morning. They did play a clip of a video Hegseth posted on social media. Perhaps a confused Trump thought it was live.” //// The Republicans against Trump account replied to Rupar on X, “Trump’s cognitive decline is getting hard to ignore.” //// Software engineer Alex Jewell chided, “I’m not sure Trump knows the difference between live and pre-recorded, if we’re being honest.” //// Former MSNBC host and Zeteo founder Mehdi Hasan lost it. “Imagine. If. It. Was. Biden,” he railed.
Imagine if it was Biden, indeed. Why can’t the people who have such slavish devotion to Trump realize this? Every damn day, Trump makes a fool of himself, but they refuse to see it. Why does Mikey Johnson continue to try to protect him? Well, we’ll have to guess that the fear must be that great. Just about all of the Republicans are the same way. Protect Trump at all costs. What a crock of crap. It’s not doing them any good, either. There isn’t a *reason* for the fear anymore.
Please let us be able to have midterms and flip a ton of seats in Congress. We need action, and the Democrats need to do it. No idea if they could get rid of Trump, but they would damn well try. Well, we can hope they will try. We’re all cynical these days, with good reason. The two record-setting speeches don’t seem to have done any good in terms of pumping up the Democrats. Here at Pz we’ve been screaming about that forever, or so it feels. Words are nice, but they are still just words. Action is better. To close:
Political writer Mona Burns chimed in, “Coupla things:1. Hegseth wasn’t on Fox this morning 2. What’s his name clearly did not write this post[.] Even his social media team can’t get it right.” //// Self-described news junkie Lauren Ashley Davis wrote on X, “Trump is sundowning again.” //// Harry Jarin, candidate for Maryland Congress, added, “Pete Hegseth was not on Fox News today. The position of Secretary of War was eliminated in 1947.”
WHAM. There ya go. Through all of these comments, we can see that at least *some* people are disturbed by Trump’s words and actions. Let’s forward these to the Democrats in Congress so they can spread them far and wide. We need pushback, action, something besides “poor pitiful us”. The Republicans control Congress, and our “president” is an idiot. We need to start working on midterms *now*. We’ve been screaming about that, too.
But in all the cynicism, we do have a reason to be proud. We are adamant about fixing healthcare. And we watched the government shut down for it. Now, yes, there is definitely concern about federal employees getting paid. That’s worrying. But we are sticking to our guns in Congress. We are doing what needs to be done. We are working for *the people*.
Friends, I know everyone begs you for money. I promise you, of all the outlets asking for spare change, we are the smallest and the hardest working. We’re a group of old, disabled people, except for one writer in his mid-50s. The rest of us are in our sixties and seventies, and this is a labor of love. All we’re asking for is the chance to keep telling the truth about Trump and help ensure democracy survives. If you can help, please do. Thank you. Ursula

I’m sure that the Democrats are preparing a strongly worded memo as we speak.
Ha. And OUCH. Point for your side, sir! 🙂
