We may have just seen Donald Trump’s concession speech. There must be gnashing of teeth, wailing and rending of garments in the Trump campaign right now, because he just did something phenomenal and unheard of in politics. He actually came out and said his opponent Joe Biden was going to be the next president. 131 days before the election. This shatters every law of campaigning of which I am aware.

“He’s gonna win because some people don’t love me, maybe, and all I’m doing is doing my job. And before this Chyna virus came in and it is a Chyna virus, we had the best numbers…” you know the rest of the pitch. We can all recite it from heart. What he fails to acknowledge is that when he got notice of the virus, in November, if he had immediately implemented top echelon testing and tracking plans, and quarantine and social distancing and masks, we would be like New Zealand and be through the coronavirus already. As it is, we’re about to experience it’s full brunt. And that’s Trump’s responsibility, which he simply cannot cop to, probably not even to himself. If Hamlet’s fatal flaw was indecision, Trump’s is inability to take responsibility — and he’s the standard bearer for the Party of Personal Responsibility, don’t forget.

And then it got even nuttier — if you can imagine. Trump said he “had to be the most perfect person” and Hannity was savvy enough to cut to commercial.

Check out the look on Hannity’s face as he goes to break. His expression is that of one humoring either a drunken lunatic or an elderly relative whose next move cannot be predicted and everyone is hoping Great Gramps doesn’t hurt himself. Hannity wanted to stop the talk about Trump’s perfection because he didn’t know where it was going or how nuts it could get. Was Trump going to go into religious grandiosity or what? Bear in mind, Hannity will still have a job after November. The job description may alter or the day to day business, but he’ll still be working. Trump is the one going into the hands of the feds.

Hannity tried to rescue the show with a softball question to Trump about his priorities for a second term — and Trump couldn’t answer. He couldn’t name a single thing. Because he has no priorities for a second term. He never had any priorities for a first.

But this is damaging. While Parscale and company are tearing their hair out and cursing, and Mitch McConnell is being revived from a dead faint, the folks at the Lincoln Project are probably alternating between laughing and shaking their heads, because what has happened since Tulsa is that Trump has become pathetic. There’s no other word for it. Maybe he’s choosing to limp out of the election, rather than attempt to double down, which is what Tulsa was about. His modus operandi in Tulsa was 1. Convince everybody the coronavirus aka Kung flu is gone and 2. The economy is coming roaring back at supersonic speed. You saw how that went over. People stayed away either from fear of the virus or because the polls are right and nobody cares anymore — or both. And so this is Trump less than a week later, a whipped dog. If the worst thing he can say about Joe Biden is a cheap shot at Biden’s speech impediment, over which he has no control, then maybe the election is over.

I have speculated what Trump’s concession speech would be like and we may have just seen it. This is the peace that Trump has made with himself, that he had done everything perfectly and then the Evil Chinese unleashed this virus and then it all went to hell for him. But it’s not his fault.

His strongman, tough guy, alpha male facade is shattered. Maybe they should have a serious talk in Republican National Headquarters and just see about Trump withdrawing? Because this is a disgrace. The Republican party is disgraced. Trump has truly dropped the ball like no candidate in history.

We’re used to lower and lower bottoms being reached in Trump world, but my imagination is taxed to try to figure out what could be lower than this. This is off the rails. And Hannity knows it. It would truly be merciful if the leadership in the GOP would just invoke the 25th Amendment because Donald Trump is seriously a sick man, who cannot navigate the normal crises of adulthood and certainly should not be the president of the United States for another minute. It’s merciful for everybody. The disappointment in Tulsa has caused Trump’s mask to shatter and the person underneath is a weak confused child, who no longer can even make the pretense of properly aspiring to the office he holds. The first time the pretense was all bluster emanating from his Apprentice character. That character doesn’t exist. The man we are now seeing is who he really is when he’s not being a rage-aholic. Something needs to be done.

    • There is some pundit on Twitter saying that Trump might just step away and not run. I’ll see if I can find it. It was somebody with a blue check mark so it’s not just a run of the mill person. It’s somebody verified. So people are thinking about that. I don’t think Trump can stand to lose. I don’t think he’s got enough guts to go through with this process. He screwed this up for himself. If he had gotten on the pandemic in November, when he first learned of it, he might have been able to portray himself as the hero of it all. And that would have got him reelected. As Rex Tillerson said, “he’s a fucking moron.” Doing the right thing would have gotten him reelected. But he wasn’t thinking about the right or wrong thing, he was only able to think of his next manipulation.

      • I could see him doing that, Ursula. But, Christ and Eset, the timing…he actually goes through with such, the GOP will REALLY be up the creek.

      • Ursala, if he had been half a human being instead of the dumpster fire raging maniac sicko he is, he might have har a slim chance. If he drops out (and I read that speculation someplace), I say it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. ?

        • i wonder if he’ll have the balls to walk away because if he does then the tag “Loser” will be thrown at him and that will drive him crazy. Or, he can spin it that his track record is 1 win for 1 time up and isn’t that the ultimate win? Or some bullshit. Trying to second guess this lunatic is something.

      • The pundit is James Carville, if anybody wants to check it out. He told both Twitter and MSNBC (i think it was Brian Williams’ show) that it might be best if Trump doesn’t run. Can you imagine this talk going on amongst Republican insiders?

  1. Sniff…sniff…waaaaaah. baby needs his diaper changed, & I don’t think melania cares unless he can pony up more cash.

    • Melania doesn’t give a crap about him , she saw an opportunity to get her parents over here, and to grab all the money she could, and by having a child with him, set her up for life. , she is a good mother and loves their child. I don’t dislike her. But, I bet as soon as they leave the White House … I think she will divorce him.

      • I don’t think Melania will divorce him. He’s 74 and in awful shape and he’s not going to get in any better shape. She might as well wait for the inheritance — unless he negotiated such a great deal when she agreed to come to the White House that she doesn’t need to wait for him to die. Won’t that be interesting to see?

        • I see Melania making sure that Donald has access to ALL the Big Macs and French fries and every other bit of “comfort” food he wants.

Just to help speed up that massive coronary and her (and Barron’s) inheritance. (Then we’ll get all the fun watching as Ivanka, Uday, Qusay and Melania go to court to fight their own “Hunger Games” for whatever Trump “fortune” may exist.)

    • He’s totally the victim. And the way he says “Chy-nuh.” They did this, Chy-nuh did this. The truth of the matter is, they would love to see him reelected, because both China and Russia have moved into the vacuum created by the complete absence of American leadership in the world.

      • China more than Russia…the Guardian had a fascinating long article a few days back about how Russia botched that poisoning in the UK a few years ago and the poisoners were IDed by a private intel firm with nothing but open source info (including the Russian black market, where corruption everywhere makes Russia ironically a very open society on info). It culminated in the poisoners blowing the PR pushback and the then-head of the GRU paying the price. Couple this with all the other publicized disasters and it’s easy to conclude that Russia is in as bad or worse shape than we are.

      • To be fair, even my Chinese wife thinks that China engineered the virus, as sort of a “Look what we can do!” thing. She reads all the Chinese language (propaganda) sites and sort of does some sort of “Kremlinology” thing to come to the conclusion that they are lying about something, well everything actually.
It’s been my job to keep her from going over the edge lately, my goto is “Did you google that? ‘Cause that sounds like pretty out there propaganda”. ;<)

        • As long as somebody is keeping a cool head and is able to discern CT from news, you should be okay. The problem with Trump is that he can’t discern the difference, and we say that with his retweet of the OANN story on Martin Gugino, the 75 year old who Trump accused of sabotaging police equipment with some sci fi device — or something. I can’t retain the details of that idiocy. Point being, Trump not only can’t tell the difference, but he immediately goes to politicize it.

  2. ‘we would be like New Zealand and be through the coronavirus already.’

And allowing for the US’ greater population and extrapolating from NZ’s death toll, we would have had a death toll of 1450.And there would now be NO coronavirus transmission running rampant.

Instead of… what is the death toll now?

    • 120,000 and counting, last I knew. Double of what Trump promised us would be the maximum a few months ago. My God, I’m so sick of this lying charlatan POS.

        • Then maybe he should man up and be an adult for once in his life and do what’s right. He either needs to admit he’s a fraud and leave or he needs to try and pull it together for the sake of his party. Chuck Grassley asked for an “intervention” this morning. I don’t think Trump is capable of doing what’s needed. He’s a one trick pony, attack is all he knows, and if he can’t attack, he can’t do anything. That’s the problem now. He’s still attacking Joe Biden but it sounds like the weak tea and whining that it is.

  3. Speaking of death toll…charles Manson not directly tied to 9 murders, life in prison. Trump DIRECTLY tied to a death toll higher than all the wars since Korea in a few months, treated like a goddamn king paid by us…man, Charlie got a raw deal. How is it America stands 4this?

    • That’s a fascinating analysis. Wow. Very true. BTW I trashed your comment in the Tom Cotton post because it was too violent. I understand your sentiment but we can’t advocate violence.

    • Although it wasn’t all that great a movie (movies seldom are as good as good books they’re based on) Flight of the Intruder (set during the latter part of Vietnam) had some memorable lines. One of them was when the squadron C.O. was giving an ass chewing and said “And as for you, YOU can lead the Manson family now that Charlie’s in jail!”

Trump reached adulthood during the time of the Tate/LaBianca murders and even if he never read it was probably familiar with the book Helter Skelter. The term refers to Manson’s dream of inciting black people to start a race war with whites and then be wiped out leaving whites only to “reign supreme.” There’s no doubting that like his Klansman daddy Trump is and always has been a stone cold racist, and his lack of morality and empathy is such that he wouldn’t shed a tear if every non-white person in this country was exterminated.

Alas, the equally and perhaps worse Stephen Miller has Trump’s ear and Miller has no doubt read Helter Skelter and probably has had countless wet dreams of bringing about Charlie’s dream.

Basically, if Trump isn’t trying to lead the Manson family now that ole Charlie is actually dead, then his trusted advisor Miller is doing so and with Trump’s full blessing and encouragement.

  4. As I read, I was thinking “how low can he go?” and you addressed that perfectly in the last paragraph. China Plague, really?

  5. His performance has always been predictable, as bad as that was … his persona has been boringly nasty vindictive and loud … screamingly at the bully pulpit of hate and division because he has NOTHING to offer, he is perfect and a genius, mask less, idiot, that can’t bust out of that dripping wet paper bag …

The strength of the Lincoln team and others comes from quick responses with in-arguable truth through videos, perfectly presented like technical writers would … synced with appropriate editing/sound/timing … they probably have some young, very talented producers, that can get rolling on these projects any hour of the day, because it generally takes serious time to edit up this level of production …

Technical writers can make the most complex mechanical/electronic device easy to understand by the average person on the street, with minimal volumes of text and visual examples, I can imagine Trump’s mind IS in an almost death rattle as the actual condition of Trump is one of a maniacal, malignant narcissist … there is absolutely NOTHING he can DO about that and he has just bumped into that concrete wall he REALLY wanted on the southern border … the beginning of his fail … ,”Mexico will pay for it”, Top man in Mexico, says hell no, Trump is caught in first giant lie, and starts little kid shouting match with Mexico … and now, after 3-1/2 years of playing golf, watching TV, and embarrassing the United States by his total lack of knowledge of virtually everything a president needs to Know and DO, For The People, he has put both feet on that slippery slope to final FAIL … alone at the top is not acceptable by a toad narcissist like Trump, he needs massive appreciation and idiotic hand clapping or his fuel sputters into a rapid cooling pile of coals …. and the GOP just messed their pants … WOW, is there any popcorn left in the pantry?

    • Lincoln Project gets on timely stuff and that’s their genius. I can’t wait to see what they cobble together from this incredible farce in Wisconsin. I’m still pinching myself to see if I’m dreaming.

      • I happened to look at one of my old journals from 2016 last night. It was right after Trump got in and we were all still reeling. The fascinating thing is how I knew, even then, that Trump was no leader and the closest the GOP had was Mitch McConnell. So even then, I had an idea we were going to wind up here. It’s the speed of the collapse that surprised me is all.

      • As all true bullies are…no matter. If he doesn’t pay for what he’s done, there’s a long line of people behind him we can and will take it out on.

        • No Trump needs to pay for the damage he’s done to our country and all the laws he broke. If he doesn’t, a few years down the road some idiot like him will be elected

  6. I just happened to wonder, do you suppose setting himself to be 25’ed(if enough cabinet members are available?!?!), then bypass law enforcement by claiming an insanity plea? I would hate to see him get out of it, but I really don’t see any other way to escape all Federal and State charges. But at least he would be gone, and unable to do any more damage! (Hopefully!!!)

    • DON’T give him that kind of credit. Whatever schemes he’s got in his head are all but guaranteed to fail. And that Cabinet may well know how they’re next on the chopping block if they let him get away.

  7. One thing you can always count on from Trump’s broken brain: it eventually makes him tell the truth. The problem for the GOP: at this point, it’s too late to dump the Kung Fool. They drop him now, they may as well concede the election to Joe and all the downballot races that Trump plays a part. Checkmate, Greedy Old Plutocrats.

  8. I would put money on him resigning if he thinks he could suffer an embarrassing loss. Kind of like declaring bankruptcy. Cut and run is his go-to move.

    • He best have a friendly country minus an extradition treaty to flee to then, Michael. Remember that another part of the trap is how multiple parties are waiting in the weeds AND wings to tear him apart when he leaves.

  9. Careful folks. This guy is always the wolf in sheep’s clothing. He maybe perceived as an “idiot” but his survival instincts are razor sharp!

    IMHO…

He’s is playing the pity card, trying to get his base to goad him on – energize them.

He’s also, by saying “Beiden is you next president…” basically inviting people to start questioning Beiden about his plans to get us out of this muck i.e. (if Beiden is so good let’s hear what he’s got) pull him out of the basement to force him to stop playing “rope a dope.” This may get the”stable genius” some materials to attack him with.

Lasty, he might be trying to lull the democratic base to sleep so they may decide it’s not worth all the hassle of voting if he’s giving up.

I’m just saying, I don’t trust this guy.

    • PLEASE…with a mounting casualty count from COVID 19, a buckling economy that Trump pushed to open too soon, an inner circle of grifters and sycophants less competent than he is and the accidental activation of a new civil rights moment that hit at the worst possible time, there are no winning moves left. I keep saying how overconfidence is anything but the problem this year and yet people seem to disbelieve me.
