Here we go again. I’m ordering thirty or forty rolls of toilet paper today so that I don’t have to worry about it. I well remember the madness with COVID and the supply chains. I remember reading a story about a 94-year-old woman who was out trying to buy toilet paper right when the hoarding hit. She dragged herself from store to store and finally broke down crying after the fourth place where the shelves were bare. My heart went out to her.

The rest of us were using coffee filters or whatever we could find when tissue boxes became unobtainable, too. And then there were people using paper towels and stuffing up the plumbing, leading to flooding and plumber bills. There’s something about Trump in office and not being able to do something as basic as wipe your own butt. There is a cosmic message in this, I just haven’t figured it out yet.

Buy it now, folks. Stock up. And I never run low these days. I learned a lot from 2020 and so since then I never have less than about 15 rolls on hand and I buy Kleenex in bulk as well and have a couple of dozen boxes of that around. One good thing about Amazon, you can order boxes of this stuff and it appears on your doorstep the next day and all you have to do is stash it in the closet.

This is just one of many annoyances that the Trump tariffs will potentially bring. They will not bring this fantasy “wealth” that he has predicted. The only issue waiting to be settled is how many aspects of our economy will be messed up, resulting in how much damage? Will electricity become the main focus of conflict? Toilet paper? Cars? All of the above and more?

Stay tuned. Donald holds forth with Liberation Day in not too many hours from now. Be there. Will be wild, to quote Trump himself. Liberation Day could end up being the economic equivalent of January 6, heaven help us.

Zoomers, if you have any spare change we could use it. We are now entering month five of Trump Depression Syndrome, the moniker given to the phenomenon of a lot of Democrats tuning out from politics to save their sanity. I understand and respect that. I also know that somebody has to stay in the front lines or there won’t be an army left to fight this war. So that’s us. We could use your help. And thank you for coming here to read in all events. Ursula

  1. Backing one out (Shite) happens … and he can’t back out of the shite show he’s created and rolling in.

  2. Make no mistake: if Trumpler hits Canada again, the reaction will be swift and brutal. Canadians are not weak nor are they inclined to tolerate bullies. Their military record proves this beyond any doubt, but because they’re a modest people, not given to bragging, most folks know little of it. Including, sadly, many younger Canadians. But that spirit extends into peacetime as well, so let none of us under-estimate the resolve of our northern neighbors and former friends.

  3. Yup, Canada’s secret weapon. We really know how to pressure a guy who reportedly needs all the hygienic products he can get.

Busy beavers, quietly going about our business … until someone starts messing with our dam!

  4. I guess we can adopt some practices of third world countries…use your left hand. Just remember to always offer your right hand in greeting. Or…in the case of Trump and his cult, the middle finger will do just fine. U can also store it in bags and leave them flaming on your gop representative’s doorstep. Just be sure no one sees you as the walking hairdo in the DOJ will declare you a terrorist and send you to a hellhole without due process. Welcome to Germany six months after Hitler stole power, where he opened Dachau and filled it with his political opponents and critics. Ahhh..
Springtime for Hitler in Washington!!!!! Having fun yet America? You voted to tear it down…it’s being torn down. Phucking morons.

    • Actually, Scott, although I appreciate your “The Producers” reference, I’ve been worried that this will be more like Springtime for Pol Pot! The “glorification of the yahoo”* and the demonization of all learning and education and science and intellectual freedom leads me to thoughts of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia rather than Nazi Germany. At the very least, the Pol Pot re-education camps and killing fields give us a more recent example.
      * I believe that is a quote from Philip Wylie’s brilliant book “Generation of Vipers” (1942), but I could be wrong.

      • I hear you. They killed anyone who could read. I forget the numbers…in the millions. I do remember the piles of skulls. Trump is just as capable of mass murder…he’s already proven that. Now the baby man is using the military to take down a building full of civilians, supposedly killing one terrorist. He’s a heartless sociopath with a malignant narcissist personality disorder. He kills a million citizens and never has shown an ounce of sympathy for anything he has EVER done. And he never will.

  5. You do realize that a lot of the shortages during COVID were due to folks doing exactly what you are doing and advocating. Hoarding creates a self-fulfilling prophecy.

    • As for me, Michael, I didn’t want to be one of “those” hoarders who caused a run on TP and took truckloads of it from Walmart. I kid you not, I started buying large packages of the stuff, one at a time, on every shopping trip starting on the day after the election in November. I made my stash long before I could cause my neighbors any shortage, but I won’t share with them if the time comes.

    • Not hoarding. I will buy one large parrvk.of 36 rolls. That should hold us for a very long time. We never had an issue during Covid. But I am 75 and I.don’t have the energy to deal with running from one store to another. Will also stock up on non-perishables like rice and beans and soup in case the Social Security checks don’t come in.

  6. Ok….bought a lot of TP at Costco today. But…..the label said made in USA. I don’t think there will be any problems with TP unless…..folks go nuts like they did before. But……again……Trump can make us all a little nuts anyway.

  7. We’re heading to BJs tomorrow and buying a very large pack of toilet paper. We just opened he latest large pack so we probably have a lot of it. I want a small freezer so we have food to last several months.
