If anybody is responsible for the piece you are about to see, it’s Donald Trump. I know the Lincoln Project would have mounted another piece, absolutely. But the speed with which they came up with this latest one has to do with Trump flipping out over the last one and calling LP “losers” “perverts” and all of the words in his schoolyard bully lexicon.

In this mini opus, they hit Trump where it hurts the most — no, not in his pocketbook but in his ego related to his pocketbook. It is essential for Donald that you believe he’s rich. You must believe, as do his MAGA disciples, that he is bloody rich, stinking rich, not only using a gold toilet but drinking Diet Coke from golden goblets, while Melania dances around in a golden grass hula skirt, and golden snowflakes rain down from the ceiling year round. Trump needs for you to believe that he’s got the world by the tail, not that he’s some broke loser who’s about to be exposed as such. This will hit a nerve.

As usual, Trump is projecting like an IMAX theater. Nobody is leaving New York because of him. As a matter of fact, if he’s not going to be doing business in New York any longer, that probably makes New York seem that much of a better place to do business, generally speaking. At least one of the whales of corruption is about to be beached. That’s always a good sign.

I’ve been dutifully monitoring Truth Social for a reaction but this piece is a bit new, so Trump may not have seen it yet. He’s too busy putting together tirades about Ron DeSantis. Not sure why that is. He’s leading DeSantis by almost thirty points in Iowa, a very comfortable margin, but for some reason he’s in the mood to trash DeSantis tonight.

Except in his trashing, he’s claiming to be leading by 50 points. The most recent information I have is from two days ago, Five-Thirty-Eight, and they quoted Trump as polling at 45.9% to DeSantis at 19.7. And as I said here earlier, there will be a new poll out in the Des Moines register on Monday.

Plus, and this is key, the DeSantis campaign appears to be panicking. If you read the piece here on how Casey announced that hordes of Moms and Grand Moms would descend on Iowa to support Ron before those killjoys at the Iowa GOP said, “Um…if you want to VOTE you need to be a resident,” then you know they’re panicking. I have no doubt but that Casey is hoping that massive numbers of people will show up in Iowa to support Ron. It would be a good photo op. But at the end of the day, it’s the people who are residents and who vote that will determine the caucus winner. And that’s all that matters.

So why is Trump dancing on DeSantis’ coffin when the man is already dead? I have no answer for that. Maybe it’s because he wants to tear apart DeSantis and then have Nikki Birdbrain Haley become his VP. Although it would be amusing to hear him explain why he called Haley Birdbrain and then asked her to become his running mate.

I don’t think Haley or Vivek Ramaswamy are going to be in the running for VP. I think Elise Stefanik will self-immolate in that role. And she deserves to.

We hear a lot about Trump Derangement Syndrome, which applies to those of us who loathe the man because we see him for who and what he is and judge him according to his actions — which isn’t my idea of a deranged way to judge people. Quite the contrary. But the real Trump derangement syndrome is with the Republicans who have themselves convinced that somehow this is all business as usual.

I guess it comes from the win in 2016. That was a good win for the GOP. They had a unified government for two years. Still couldn’t govern, the most glaring example of which was the failure to repeal and replace Obamacare, followed by the punchline that Infrastructure Week became. It was a hellish two years and since then the GOP has lost every single election cycle.

But somehow that doesn’t register. Somehow, none of that matters. The Republicans are convinced on some level that Trump will regain the White House and who cares if democracy ends and fascism begins?

And they’re all blind to the fact that it was said back in 2016, nowadays there are two parties, Americans and Republicans. And all that has happened the past seven years is for that same basic concept to be underscored.

What both Trump and the Republicans are banking on is that although he lost in 2020, somehow that doesn’t matter. And his 91 felonies don’t matter either. We will find out in 2024 whether these things matter or not. What I think the bottom line is, yes, Biden may not be polling as high as people would wish. But that does not translate as people have done lost their damn minds and now they want Trump back in office to finish destroying the country.

  1. Yeeehahhhh! Indeed Don Don’s jugular will pulsate about the walls and off the ceiling post his viewing of this LP truther – particularly the bit that nails it ‘everything is a lie’ … and Don Don before you go on a revenge, consider what Confucius said on the subject:

    • That is a good one. I never heard that. Thank you for sharing that with us here. :))

I keep checking in on Truth Social but no mention of Lincoln Project. He may not know about it yet.

    • Actually, there is NO evidence that Confucius ever said anything remotely like that. The word “revenge” does not appear in any standard English translation of the “Analects” so it seems odd that the phrase could have originated with Confucius.

According to the website Quote Investigator, the first time the IDEA appeared in English was from a book about JAPANESE history, “The Mikado’s Empire” by William Elliot Griffis from 1876. He included a list of Japanese proverbs, one of which was “If you call down a curse on anyone, look out for two graves.” (Griffis included an equivalent quote to explain: “Curses, like young chickens, always come home to roost.”) In 1915, the quote was, um, reinterpreted in a (believe it or not) Sunday School curriculum book, “Peloubet’s Select Notes on the International Lessons for 1915” (I had to search this and, sure enough, the title was developed by F N Peloubet beginning in the 1870s and running nearly a century). As presented in the “Notes,” the proverb–attributed to Griffis–was changed to “If you would revenge yourself, dig two graves.” In 1951, the quote was included in a newspaper story from West Virginia, recounting the story of a wrongly convicted person released from prison after 12 years and the paper wrote that “he said, quoting a Chinese proverb, ‘He who seeks revenge digs two graves’.”
A few years later, popular columnist Walter Winchell claimed to have overheard a similar phrase at the Stork Club (as “Before you seek Revenge with someone be sure and dig two graves.”). Then, just a couple of years later, in an Oregon newspaper, there was a letter to the editor attributing the phrase to Socrates(!?!).

      • Interesting, but a common problem when we look back on the origins and original meaning of statements attributed to persons in the past. We have a country full of fervent morons who actually believe every text in red in the gospels literally fell out of Jesus’ mouth. 200 Biblical scholars from the most prestigious universities across the globe analyzed the New Testament to use a weighted voting system to quantify what they believed could be attributed to Jesus, who, although mentioned by two Roman historians, doesn’t have a ton of evidence he actually existed. They determined only about 14% would be what they felt had good evidence. Given few people in antiquity were literate, it’s no surprise so little evidence can be found.

      • Thanks for the QC & clarification. Regardless of authenticity or not, it certainly was not lost in the spirit of the moment. Boom’Boom!

  2. these clowns are part of the fallout from the absurd “reality” show
culture which spun-up brains so much more than any brain on drugs would be possible.
they all are constantly auditioning for trump-o the clown king but they don’t
care what role they get. they have been fooled and are done with actual life forever.

  3. Agreed re: Trump Derangement Syndrome. We’re not deranged, he is and, as you point out, so is the MAGAt GOP. Let’s use Trump Detestation Syndrome instead.

  4. And there’s tRump Tiredness Syndrome. As “I’m sick & tired of this dolt.”

One of the advantages of a competent, successful President Biden is that he’s not out tooting his horn every minute. He’s busy working for all of us.

When the campaign starts next year he’ll pull no punches helping us remember the great job he continues to do. Not startin too early is brilliant. Let the orange traitor continue his bullshit and more and more people will begin to not only see through his lies, but get tired of his BS. I see more and more evidence of this in MSM news comments sections everyday that goes by. Heck, the NYT and WaPo comments are starting to read like Politizoom! 🙂 Even for David Brook’s BS!

When he’s broke, at the end of the disgorgement phase of his trial before Judge Engoron, next up will be Judge Chutkan’s turn. He’ll be a slobbering whimpering pool of puss by then.

  5. You know, I never much cared for Chris Christie, but he is honestly corrupt and small potatoes vindictive, the Tony Soprano of politics. But he hates,Trump and he isn’t worried about retaliation because the Mafia is much more competent at protection and mathematics than Denny’s cultists.

  6. “He’s too busy putting together tirades about Ron DeSantis. Not sure why that is.”

Because it makes him feel better. DeSantis is even more of a loser than Trump is, and no danger to him at all. One of the few people he doesn’t have to be scared of.

    • Trump likes to punch down. He’s never been up for a fair fight. He’s much more powerful than DeSantis and he knows it so it makes Ron an easy target. Hell, DeSantis is well shorter than Trump physically too! Both of them lie about their height and wear lifts in their shoes to seem taller but Trump actually is four or five inches taller which I’m sure makes him feel “tough” when ripping on DeSantis.
