Wow. Reminds you a lot of that old Dinah Washington ballad, “What A Difference A Day Makes.” Yes, romance and politics are two arenas of life where the events of one single day, one single meeting, can mean all the difference in the world. As you well know, Zohran Mamdani visited the Oval Office a mere 24 hours ago (how it seems like a week already, or longer) and what was expected to turn into a slugfest instead became a lovefest. Can you feature that? A great many people are having a problem doing so. We just published a piece here on how Xians are now turning on Donald Trump and along with that loyal cult sect, here’s yet an incredulous envoy from another: Fox News.

If you thought Elon was gone, now after comparing those two photos you’ll know that Elon is reallllly gone. A picture is worth a thousand words.
And why was Charles Gasparino thinking that the wheels are coming off of the Trump presidency? Probably because he was cued into what the Republicans have (had) planned for their key pitch this next year as the mid-terms approach, that of New York City going to Hell on a bobsled with a communist at the helm. A Trump-hating commie, no less, not just any commie. A Trump-hating commie who called the Orange Man a despot, no less.
And Trump was just FINE with that! Trump fired back, “I’ve been called a lot worse things than a despot, a despot isn’t all that bad.” Trump doesn’t likely know the difference between despot and teapot, and that’s all to the better. Mamdani and Trump are having such a bromance, don’t want to destroy it with walking Trump through the dictionary and reminding him that despots are not only absolute rulers, but cruel and oppressive ones as well.
If Vance’s entire world was burning down around him, he would still stand there with a smug, self-satisfied look on his face and tell you he’s winning. pic.twitter.com/wMmHIe5uU8

What’s that you say? What about Trump’s vow to slash funding for New York if Mamdani was elected? I think we can forget about all that. Trump was quoted as saying that, “I expect to be helping him, not hurting him.” Trump also said, ““I want him to do a great job, and we’ll help him do a great job.” Whatever voodoo Mamdani did, there’s a lot of MAGAs who are simply horrified and a lot of Trump’s adversaries who wish they knew the secret formula. Quick, Zohran, tell Donald that he needs to help Ukraine. If anybody can push out Putin, it’s you, Zohran.

Trump could change his *mind*, that’s true enough. In the meantime, and until we hear to the contrary, it looks like this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. :))

Maybe Fox will pivot to match their dear leader?
But I just checked, there’s no sign of flying pigs.
I think Fox is trying to figure out what to do. It’s still the weekend, they have a little time to come up with something new. I’m sure they’re horrified. The anti-Mamdani voices were a solid Greek chorus and that was expected to run throughout next year. Now Trump has derailed the entire GOP platform with one meeting.
Fox News has to figure out some way to spin this. Maybe pitch Mamdani as a certain sect of communism that is amenable to MAGA and vice versa. Good luck with that. But something like that is what is in fact needed.
Karoline Leavitt was no help, unsurprisingly. She told Hannity that Mamdani was “going to learn from” Trump. Hannity looked more disgusted than I have seen him in ages.
Why should anyone really be surprised?
Putin was a Communist (a freaking member of the KGB, FFS) and Drumpf has had no problem being BFFs with (or willing puppet of) him for the last decade-plus.
This meeting was utterly bizarre. He fawns over Mamdani as he does Putin. Does Zohran have a copy of the Bubba pic? Whatever, those wheels have spun off and the trump train is diving into the canyon.
