Ever since he got on the VP short list Gov. and VP nominee Tim Walz has been something of a sensation. My own opinion is that Harris staffers worried about his sometimes gaffes have under-utilized him but that’s a different conversation. What I want to talk about is the FACT that Walz is, as he always has been the regular guy next door in small-town/rural America. And he comes across that way both in front of crowds and on camera and the GOP has been desperate to ‘dirty him up’ in voter’s minds. I wrote the other day about an NRA attempt to do so that backfired (pun intended) but a couple of weeks ago a much darker, downright disgusting post went up on twitter/X. It accused Walz of sexual assault and got over five million views before it was taken down. It turned out the guy making the ad/post wasn’t the actual person he claimed to be!
Still, that the GOP would go so far tells me they are perhaps more desperate than we’ve thought. However, someone or some small group in Trump World (and twitter/X) thought this would be a good idea. They HAD to know other students who attended the high school where Walz taught and coached at the same time the IMPOSTER claimed to have done so would start asking ‘Who the hell is this guy? It sure isn’t the Matthew Metro we knew back then!’ Well, the Washington Post decided to take a look into all this and it’s a story as ugly as the accusations the FAKE Metro made against Walz.
The real Matthew Meto told the post he didn’t know Walz. Never had him as a teacher and I guess didn’t play football. To him Walz was just some teacher he might see in the hall between classes or in the cafeteria. Apparently he never heard anything bad about Walz either. He actually has little to say about those days. However he’s got plenty to say about the guy who went on social media using HIS name and certain details about his life and he’s not at all happy about it:
“It’s obviously not me: The teeth are different, the hair is different, the eyes are different, the nose is different,” said Metro, 45, who has not previously spoken publicly. “I don’t know where they’re getting this from.” Metro showed The Post his Hawaii driver’s license to confirm his identity.
Metro told The Post that Walz never taught him. He said he was irate that his name and biographical information were being used to bolster a lurid false accusation – and that he may be forever associated with it online. “It’s an invasion of my privacy and my personal life,” he said.
That last part should grab your attention. Imagine going along just living your life and all of a sudden someone has gone on social media, appropriated YOUR name and a few details about your life from a long time back – and made a claim of being sexually assaulted. By a FAMOUS person which makes the whole thing even worse because millions will have seen it. Sure, as was sure to happen twitter/X removed the post after being given proof the guy who made the four minute video was a FRAUD. However as I said over five million people viewed the thing before that happened. It’s a safe bet many a MAGA and GOP operative too has the thing downloaded and that it will continue to get circulated.
Yep, I’d say that’s one hell of an invasion of a person’s personal life and privacy. The actual person who made the vile, offensive video has yet to be identified and I’m sure Musk will scream bloody murder at attempts to do so. As for whether the REAL Matthew Metro would sue the guy (I’m not a lawyer but he seems to have a good case against both the guy and twitter for not doing some basic fact checking) is the question now. Perhaps Metro was hoping the whole thing would just die down and be forgotten. That’s apparently not going to be the case although we can wish for him it will soon be forgotten.
Again though it’s proof we need to see MORE of Tim Walz out there because if the GOP is this scared of the impact he has with small-town/rural voters this despicable slander and the botched NRA ad tells me there’s something in the GOP’s internal polling that is keeping Team Trump up at night. Matthew Metro’s life has suddenly been upended in an attempt to help Trump by smearing Tim Walz:
In the video, the man posing as Metro claims that Walz groped and kissed him in a classroom after he turned to Walz for guidance during a difficult period in his senior year in 1997. But the real Metro said no such interaction occurred and that his senior year “was a breeze.”
The fake Metro says in the video that his parents were getting divorced that year and that he was having to keep his sexuality secret. The real Metro, who is gay, told The Post the opposite was true. “I was completely out in high school,” he said, adding that his parents remain happily married today.
Metro said he was first alerted to the video by an old friend based in Minnesota. “I know this is fake,” he said the friend remarked in the text message last week. Metro said he had since been inundated by messages from friends and relatives, all of whom recognized that he was not the individual in the video.
That as we say is that. The whole GOP smear (using Musk’s platform) was a monstrous LIE. Oh, and in case you’re wondering the REAL Matthew Metro who has been enjoying a nice life in Hawaii for years will be voting Harris/Walz next month!
such a sleazy attack. coming from teflon don’s campaign. trump has violated every moral code in this country and yet still gets evangelical support. Walz is well loved and respected in his community and is being lied about. The same with Kamala. my stomach churns that this is the kind of lie social media promotes today. Will we ever have truth again?
We’ll have truth again, it’s always been there, it’s just been covered up by so many lies.
But lies can’t last, they’re always exposed by the truth coming through.
Lies travel fast but fade faster, like an old photo in sunlight. The truth lumbers on a little more slowly but sunlight has no effect on it other than illumination.

Not as long as sleazy muskrat and fat orange menace are out there doing their worst. Of course, we still haven’t seen their worst, Heaven help us!
…IMHO, the real Matthew Metro has had his reputation damaged by the Bronze Boob’s campaign of fools, abetted by the Musk-rat’s corrupted platform, and an enterprising startup law firm might make a name for itself by taking the case on contingency…..
“And twitter for not doing some basic fact checking”. Come on guys, have you ever even been on twitter??? They do not do ANY fact checking at all. Only the people who comment ever mention if something is fake and even then twitter leaves it up to harm the person being slandered. Unless it’s the orange menace and then it would be taken down immediately and a million or so retractions and corrections posted as well as all the magat outrage being posted. Twitter is as big a joke as its owner! And that a is bigly yuge joke!!
Sooner or later the net has to close on on the Wild West of social media where the publishers reap rich dollar rewards by publishing without responsibility, anonymous contributors get perverse satisfaction without retribution and society reaps the chaos of algorithmic driven extremes.
Every year of school, from kinder to Ph.D., should have mandatory classes in “Recognition and Rejection of Bullshit.” The fake Matthew Metro has no right ear (and it isn’t just because of camera angle). He doesn’t sound like a suburban Minnesota-raised guy (not a single “yah, you betcha”). Sounds like a “Nigerian prince” who will pay you if you help him free up the money he can’t get to. In retelling the worst story of his life, there really are no inflection changes. And, especially, can you imagine Tim Walz, the self-described “knucklehead,” saying to a teenager, “I know what you want…I like men, too!”? Yup, that’s some schlocky bullshit, amirite? 🤪
This kind of cheap, offensive attack by the GOP plus their lack.of interest in taking out down or placing warnings that this is fraudulent says so.much about Lyin’ Donnie has taken over the GOP. There was a time when Republicans still.had ethics. Not any more
