[Apologies for the delay. Life got in the way. And it is still in the way, and I’ll leave it at that.]
Governor Newsom is NOT happy with Trump and his toadies and the USPS trying to steal the midterms from everyone, and he has signed quite a few bills to prevent it. If only other states would see this and do the same thing, too! Wouldn’t that be something to see? He’s being bipartisan. Actually, that isn’t the big thing. He’s protecting elections, not specifically Republicans or Democrats.
It’s really something to see from a state that leans blue. We can’t say it *is* blue, because there are red areas in it. No state seems to be all red or all blue. One or the other is stronger, but it’s not completely blue or red. Newsom is protecting everyone. How many other states are willing to do that? How many other states are willing to do that? Are there any others? Is anyone else, blue or red, that is willing to follow Governor Newsom’s example? We don’t know yet. Time will tell.

Gavin Newsom dealt a major blow to President Donald Trump on Saturday after signing a package of bills designed to build a “wall” to “safeguard” California’s electoral process ahead of the midterms. According to Newsom’s office, the governor signed a package of 13 bills Saturday specifically designed to thwart disruptions to California’s upcoming elections amid growing fears that the Trump administration may interfere in the electoral process. The package includes measures to make it a felony to seize ballots and election records and to prohibit deceptive political attack ads made with artificial intelligence.

It’s certainly getting ahead of the obvious actions Trump will try to take, but for time’s sake, you can read more about them at this link. They don’t directly state ICE/CBP, but there is at least one that can be inferred as dealing with those two gangs of thugs, in my personal opinion, which is challenging to keep first person out of my articles. This is supposed to be about news, after all. It would be AB 282, SB 259, and AB 1664 that could be how to keep them away. Now, back to our regular nightly story. This was part of it, but please read so you can form your own opinions.
It feels a bit odd to think, “Wow, that makes sense. So why hasn’t anyone done this before?” The likely answer might be red state governors, except everyone has the potential to have Trump take voting materials so fewer people can vote. Remember, he’s flailing about them because there’s now a very good chance of a blue wave, and he’s terrified to have Democrats flip just the House, let alone the Senate, as well. We can settle for one, be happy for both, but let’s live large and go both for both, shall we?
