It’s probably begun to cross your mind that Trump’s purported reason for leaving the G7 conference in Canada early to deal with the Iran crisis rings a bit hollow because the Iran crisis has gotten the same treatment as Infrastructure Week or Repeal and Replace — meaning it is perpetually on a two-week treadmill. So if he didn’t leave to take care of that, then why did he leave? Ah….for reasons which are purely Trumpian.
Pravda Ukraine wrote about a Financial Times report that Trump split from the meeting because he was mad at Zelenskyy and Macron:
Trump claimed that he had to return to Washington to tackle the conflict between Israel and Iran.
“But people familiar with the discussions said that his decision to leave was partly due to irritation at French President Emmanuel Macron who had stopped in Greenland and opposed Trump’s plans to take control of the island, as well as the US president’s lack of interest in meeting the Ukrainian leader,” the FT said.
Trump can’t push around either Zelensky or Macron and he knows it. He knows that both of those men are leaders of a certain caliber that he will never be, Zelensky in particular. He may not consciously acknowledge these facts, but he knows them in his gut. Just like he knows he’s scared to death of Xi, Putin and Kim Jong-Un.
Donald Trump is mad at Macron because the French president went to Greenland and basically told them to ignore Trump and that Greenland was never going to belong to the United States.
This enraged Trump because it contradicted his fantasy of expanding the United States’ territory and solidifying his legacy.
The Donald Trump of 2017 was completely overmatched by the responsibilities of the presidency. In 2025, Trump is existing in his own universe, which includes throwing himself military birthday parties, while millions of Americans protest his presidency, and global crises fester while the declining president treats war and peace like a season finale of The Bachelor.
In retrospect, it is clear that Joe Biden kept the lid from boiling over in conflicts around the world. Some on the left will argue about how Biden handled Israel during his final year in office, but things have gotten much worse in the Middle East under Trump.
The Middle East is burning, and Donald Trump is throwing fits and leaving meetings early because he is personally mad at two other world leaders.
A small group of swing voters in seven states did this to the United States and the world because they were angry about inflation and prices. Inflation and prices are worse, the US is on the brink of a new war in the Middle East, and the president that they supported is throwing man-baby fits at US allies.
Very simply, to remain at the G7 was to deal with reality, boring, mundane, reality. Trump was expected to participate meaningfully and get work done. Ha! No wonder he ran when the first excuse to run presented itself. His coming back to Washington early accomplished nothing with respect to Iran. That much we knew the day he left. And now that’s been confirmed.

You are so right about him not ever being ready to deal with boring, mundane reality. He has never been found guilty of doing an honest day’s work in his life, besides he doesn’t share the spotlight with anyone. So team work is out of the question. I figured he left early because Carney and others wouldn’t let him spout his BS. That’s probably the real reason he went, so he could be on the world stage. That was denied to him, so go home.
I think it’s very plausible that he had a personal grudge against Zelensky and/or Macron. Trump holds grudges. He’s a complete child. I hope the day dawns when America looks back on this time in history and is shocked that we got here. Unfortunately, I’m thinking that maybe now this dumbing down will continue and politics will be Trump Plus — whatever that might be. I’m scared to even imagine.
He knew he was the tolerated toddler. Carney’s handling of the entitled baby (and wasn’t that wink to Macron absolutely deeelightful). He knows big boys have the measure of him. and he’s afeared. Problem is he will bully all the harder at home.
Gathered around that table at the G7 were actual leaders, intelligent adults all, and a pretend president, woefully unprepared to contribute anything other than incomprehensible word salads and pathological lies. No one was there to flatter him or make him the centre of attention. They were there to do their jobs, and Trump’s simply not capable of that. He hates being at such gatherings, because he knows he’s unworthy of being there and he knows the others know too. His MAGAt bullshit doesn’t work and that’s all he’s got. Plus he wouldn’t have the balls to meet President Zelensky and risk the Ukrainian telling him that now he, Donald, has no cards.
Maybe he just ran out of diapers?
It wasn’t just inflation that tamped down critically needed Biden votes. If was fucking petulant anger over him not abandoning Israel. Biden was in the same impossible position every President before him back to the establishment of the modern day Israel – having to help them maintain a democracy as they violated their promises to help create an independent Palastinian state from the beginning. EVERY conflict in Israel can be traced back to their intransigence on that issue. Some Israeli P.M.s have tried to work something out but the hard liners, who existed well before Bibi came along threw sand in the gears.
As far as Israel’s RNNJs are concerned every square inch of that country is for Jews and no one else. They are ironically enough determined to ETHNICALLY Cleanse Israel of Palestinians. Given the horrific nature of what Hitler tried to do to the Jews I understand as much as any non Jewish person can the “Never Again” mantra. Yet the current conflict over Gaza isn’t the first time Israel has stood idly by and said NOTHING, much less taken any action when ethnic cleansing has occurred in other places. Some years ago I came to the conclusion Israel came to forfeit its moral authority because history teaches us when they say “Never Again” they only mean it for Jewish people and fuckall to any other group.
The Oct. 7 terrorist attacks were such Israel had every right to go after the leaders of Hamas. It’s HOW they have done so that has so many justifiably angry. I and many on our side poke fun at MAGA for not understanding nuance. Turns out Progressives have trouble with it too. Biden was as I think he had to do continuing to provide defensive weapons only to Israel and working hard to get humanitarian aid flowing. Clearly he wasn’t as effective on the latter point as we would have expected.
Regardless, it wasn’t just those with Palestinian heritage or Muslims but also those who support them in those critical swing states that demanded a complete cutting off of all aid/support to Israel. And, because they didn’t get it they organized AGAINST Biden and the Democratic Party including Kamala Harris. How the fuck they thought Trump would do what they wanted is beyond me. But maybe it was a cut off their nose to spite their faces type of thinking.
The consequences will be far reaching and we have no idea how big the butcher’s bill will be for that petulance.
Self entitled arrogant citizens who now have the blood on their hands.
