What a day. What a hearing. This was everything that Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell stood on their hind legs to try to prevent the American people from seeing. And we saw it. It was raw, and it was coarse, and I commend MSNBC for letting the audio go unedited throughout the testimony, because it was a punch in the gut, like being in a boxing ring with Ali in his prime.
Both McConnell and McCarthy said that they didn’t watch the hearing, as they had business to attend to. But I can damn near guarantee you that Traitor Tot did, and he must have required medical sedation. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, the two GOP reps in the panel, roasted their own party for their attempts to rewrite history. And impeachment nemesis Jamie Raskin slammed Trump by calling the officers, true heroes, and American patriots, while describing Trump’s mob as fascist terrorists. These are Trump’s core base. He even ridiculed Trump and his mob when he told an officer that a member of the GOP had taken to calling the mob regular tourists, and asking the officer what he thought of that description, The officer promptly replied, Well, if those were American tourists, I can see why so many European countries hate American tourists. He brought the house down, and provided much needed comic relief.
But to my mind, the most important quote to take away from today’s hearing came from officer Aquilino Gonell. A child immigrant from the Dominican Republic, Gonell became an American citizen, joined the army, and served a combat tour in Iraq before joining the Capitol police. He testified that never in his entire combat tour in Iraq had he been so afraid of dying as he was on January 6th.
But in his closing statement to the congressional panel, while answering the question of what he wanted the panel to accomplish. he laid it all on the line. He said;
Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are being praised as courageous heroes, and while I agree with the concept, I have to ask myself,, why? For telling the truth? Ahy is telling the truth so hard?
That is McCarthy and McConnell’s worst nightmare. Almost the entire GOP has sold out to the Big Lie, and the preposterous theory that the January 6th insurrection was nothing more than a peaceful protest. One Capitol cop shone a bright spotlight on the bullshit, asking the simple question of why are two GOP representatives being portrayed as heroes for simply speaking The Truth. Which begs the truth that the entire rest of the GOP are nothing more than lying, sniveling, traitorous toadies. I sincerely hope that that clip is an unedited part of every congressional attack ad against GOP House incumbents every day from now to election day. Here endeth the lesson.

When the lights shine the cockroaches run back into their holes.
I only that were completely true. I’ve seen plenty of cockroaches scurrying around in fairly well-lit areas. The only thing worse than feeling a cockroach crawling over your foot in the dark is actually seeing one crawling on the wall while you’re sitting in a very well-lit room.
Well, I suppose it *could* be worse if you think you see that roach raise one of its legs at you in an “up yours” move.
If they are in lit areas, it is because the dark areas, like behind the walls, are so infested it forces them into the light. And I think the cockroach version of “up yours” is breeding beyond anything that is reasonable and knowing (you can see it in their eyes) that when we destroy ourselves they will still be here.

Given his preferences, I suspect that instead of sedation The Orange One required an extra big mac and two extra scoops of ice cream.
