We have met the enemy, and he is dumb
Dear Lord. We’re only still not even midway through the first week of GOP power in the House, and already I can literally feel the IQ points dribbling out of my ears. And I don’t have that many to spare, just ask Teri or Ursula Faw.
It’s nothing more or less than a cheap, petty, self indulgent act of revenge for the GOP. And it’s going to cost them in the long run, in two ways. Howdy Doody Speaker Kevin McCarthy confirmed to the AP that he plans to block Democrats Eric Swalwell, Adam Schiff, and Ilhan Omar from resuming their current committee posts in the new congress.
Remember what this act of petty retaliation is for. After uber wingnut Laborious MTG and Gruppenfuhrer Gosar went a step too far in once again showing their racist, homophobic, all around bigotry, then Speaker Nancy Pelosi moved to a vote to strip them of their committee assignments, which was successful. Exploding GOP heads quickly followed. After all, what’s today’s GOP without a little racism, homophobia, and religious mania? Severe reprisals were promised when the GOP once again got the keys to the car.
But why? After all, it wasn’t like this wasn’t something that the GOP hadn’t recently done themselves, and to one of their own. A few years ago, when Racist soob GOP Representative Cantaloupe Calves Steve King stepped on one too many toes, the GOP leadership saved Pelosi the trouble, and stripped King of his committee assignments internally, assuring his defeat in the next election. So it’s not like they didn’t at least used to have a modicum of scruples in the GOP. But not anymore.
Look, McCarthy can cave to his Freedom Caucus overlords and do this, but it will be like pouring gasoline on a fire. These ass gaskets are like the last scene in Thelma and Louise. They’re speeding forward, knowing that not hitting the brakes means fade to black, but they just can’t stop themselves. They have no choice but to hold hands and plunge over the cliff.
Because the American voters have made their voices heard loud and clear in the past three elections. In 2018, 2020, and 2022 the American voters made it clear that they’re sick of partisan gridlock, They spanked the GOP House for 40 seats in 2018, gave the Democrats a narrow control in both chambers, as well as the White House in 2022, and barely gave the GOP a second look in 2022. And in their two years from 2020-2022, the Democrats has the most far reaching, consequential congress since the days of The New Deal.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression. And so far, the House GOP’s first impression is a steaming pile of shit. It took a humiliating four days and 15 ballots to confirm a new Speaker, something that hasn’t happened in more than 150 years. The debacle even included a near fist fight between two GOP members on the floor, captured by CSPAN. And when it was finally, painfully over, Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries ground McCarthy and the GOP into the dust with a rousing, barnburning speech.
Which leaves the only HOP salvation to be their agenda. And what, pray tell, is their agenda? They want to investigate Hunter Biden’s laptop. They want to investigate the Democratic members who sat on the J6 committee. That’s just the appetizer. They literally want to do that Thelma and Louise, and drive the global economy over the cliff by defaulting on our debt ceiling obligations. And for dessert, they want to gut Social Security and Medicare, likely to cost them their largest remaining base, senior citizens.
But worse yet, the mongoloid idiots in the House GOP are setting a precedent that is highly likely to come back and bite them in the ass. We’re 22 months away from the 2024 election, and if the GOP House continues on its present course, I find it almost inconceivable that the GOP will be able to hold the House in 2024. And if the House gavel switches hands again, new Speaker Hakeem Jeffries is likely going to be interested in burying the hatchet. In House GOP skulls. Let’s see how MAGA Morons and Teabaggers like Gym Bag Jordan, Sugar Daddy Matt Gaetz, Laborious MTG and Gruppenfuhrer Gosar like getting stripped from their assignments. This is a younger, more progressive, more aggressive Democratic House caucus, and they have a fire in their bellies. What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
The American voters have made their choice crystal clear. They want bipartisanship, and they want results! And the GOP’s response? They’re about to retaliate against three Democratic Houser members for sins committed by members of their own party! What could go wrong?
Axing Schiff from his current duties is fucking with National Security. Schiff has a lot of institutional knowledge of how Gang of Eight stuff works and all those years of experience learning operations and context. More importantly a well-earned reputation for trust that for the most part is bi-partisan.
Mongoloid is a highly racist and offensive term and I wish you would stop using it. There are other ways to express yourself without using a word that denigrates a race or people with Down’s syndrome.
“Because the American voters have made their voices heard loud and clear in the past three elections.” it is obvious that the rethugs never pay attention to the actual people. They simple go from election to election having learned nothing, and not caring to. The secret philosophy is do as much damage as possible in case we lose the majority. It will take far longer to undo that to do it.
