Truth Social and its parent company Trump Media and Technology Group are going the way of Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, Trump Airlines, and the Trump 2020 campaign. Down.And.Out.
As you may recall, all the bugs were going to be ironed out and Truth Social would be a goliath ready to take on Twitter and Facebook by March 31. Well, Sir, it is now April 4 and it looks like things are going a different direction. Politico:
Three top executives quit Truth Social, including chief technology officer, Josh Adams and Billy Boozer, the head of the company’s product development, and chief legal officer, Lori Heyer-Bednar, according to two people familiar with the matter. Reuters first reported the departures of Adams and Boozer.
I don’t know about you, but if my given name was “Boozer” I would change it to something else. Or maybe this Boozer lives up to the name, which if he’s dumb enough to go to work for Donald Trump, would certainly give him an advantage in coping with the fact.
Trump has been upset with the state of his social media venture, Truth Social, and is eyeing major shake-ups to the company, including positions on the board of Truth Social’s parent company, Trump Media and Technology Group, according to one of those people familiar with the matter and a separate person as well.
Trump’s frustration comes as the site has struggled mightily upon launch, with low traffic and persistent tech glitches. It is also now suffering from personnel issues too — neither Adams nor Heyer-Bednar list their job titles with Truth Social on their personal profiles, despite previously having listed it.
That’s because they don’t want to be associated with it. That’s a no brainer. Truth Social is hardly a credential that you want to lead with at the top of your resume, or profile, when it’s the laughing stock of both Wall Street and Silicon Valley.
Truth Social has failed to gain traction or popularity among users. The app has seen a 93 percent drop in sign ups since its launch, and installs declined by 800,000 users, according to data from Sensor Tower, a mobile analytics firm. Following news of the decline in usage, shares for Digital World Acquisition Corp., the special purpose acquisition company that is joining with Trump Media and Technology Group (the company backing Truth Social), declined by over 30 percent, according to Bloomberg.
This is all about a shell company buying a shell company. This is all about some people making a bundle on the stock market when this madness first went public, and everybody else losing their shirts. This is about one more Trump scam.
Say…has anybody seen Devin Nunes lately? His company seems to be burning down, we just thought he’d like to know. SFGate:
The Daily Beast reviewed data from an analytics firm and found that Truth Social is now seeing just 8,000 downloads a day, which is down from a peak of 170,000. Furthermore, the app is only the 355th most popular app among Apple device users. According to the Daily Beast, several lesser-known alternate social media sites are handily beating Truth Social in downloads.
Reuters subsequently reported Monday that two key executives with an actual background in tech — Josh Adams and Billy Boozer — have resigned. One source familiar with Truth Social told Reuters that Adams was the “brains” of the app’s technology, and “if Josh has left… all bets are off.”
A third report from BBC highlights how Truth Social’s launch has been perceived by onlookers. An unnamed “Republican ally” of Trump’s told the publication, “Nobody seems to know what’s going on.” Joshua Tucker, the director of NYU’s Center for Social Media and Politics, said of the app: “It’s been a disaster.”
Both the BBC and Daily Beast reports state that Trump himself is “furious” about the app’s woes. The Daily Beast reports that Trump’s frustration may have turned to resignation, as “sources close to Trump say he has recently complained about the low-energy activity on the app and appears disengaged from trying to turn the platform around, much less post on it.”
Trump made money out of the initial explosion in the stock price. He was in this for whatever he could get and now that it appears he’s already gotten the best of it, he’s gone. He doesn’t care anymore. That’s vintage Trump behavior.
All that is necessary now is for Nunes to come out and call it quits. We shall wait patiently. Somebody start the countdown clocks. I don’t think we’re going to have to wait for long.
The thing was intended to make money for the former guy – the SEC is, AFAIK, still looking into what was going on at the start.
I think people have discovered (and by ‘people’ I do mean the ones without an ingrown red baseball cap) that it’s really ‘Prevarication Anti-Social’
in the unemployment line
