So, Tom Ford is buying a place down near Mar-a-Lago way that Ford smartly bargained down to $51 million. You would think that Melania would faint at the opportunity to walk down the road (Ha ha, just kidding, she’d never be a streetwalker… Umm, try that again. She’d never walk, she’d go in a limo) and be happy to be Ford’s muse.
But there’s a bit of a problem with that. According to Queerty (a great website btw), there’s some “history” between these people. Ford refused to dress Melania because he “rightly” believed that the president and first lady should buy clothes made in America and within the price range of most Americans. Hey, Trump certainly did his part. He didn’t even have a tailor, as far as anyone could tell. Melania was a different story:
Prior to Trump taking up residence in the White House, Ford, who is a Democrat and disclosed he voted for Hillary Clinton, did admit why he was not interested in dressing Melania for any events or appearances.
“I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago and I declined,” Ford said in November 2016. “She’s not necessarily my image.
Holy shit, bro! But it gets worse:
“I think that whoever is the President, or the First Lady, should be wearing clothes at a price point that are accessible to most Americans, and wearing clothes made in America. My clothes are made in Italy. They’re very, very expensive.”
Well, a lot of Trump merch was long made in China, but, yeah – Italian clothes, that’s… actually the only type of clothing Melania wore the entire time she was First Lady. Now, I often beat up on Mel because she’s a spoiled little brat, but I also offered her a bit of advice that she never once took.
Melania could have been far more popular with the American public if she had ever looked like the American public. It didn’t matter if she was going to a rocket launch, planting a tree, or going to a school. Melania always seemed to want to play the model that she long saw as her true calling. Do you ever recall seeing Melania in a pair of jeans, Nike hiking boots, and a sweater? No, you don’t because she didn’t, and I watched closely.
Here, there, and everywhere that I’ve written (quite a list), I’ve long advised Mel to throw on some jeans and a sweatshirt, ditch the professional makeup artist and just go with some concealer, go natural, and be more relatable. She always has… done the opposite.
Meanwhile, according to Queerty, Trump and Ford have had issues going back to, well – Hillary, as mentioned above, and Trump didn’t like that Ford wouldn’t dress Mel.
“[She] never asked Tom Ford, doesn’t like Tom Ford, doesn’t like his designs,” he said during a TV appearance, according to Allure. “I’m not a fan of Tom Ford, never have been.”
Of course not. He rejected her, and thus, like every other person who rejects a Trump, Ford is a horrible person with nothing good about him. Perhaps that’s even true. The world of “high fashion” is stuffed with self-important jackasses. I don’t know a thing about him except he designs women’s clothes, and – generally, I must confess, my interest is more in taking them… well, this isn’t about me.
Not that I care. It is Saturday night, and I refuse to look for an article talking about the fourth batch of classified files found by Biden’s staff. This is far more interesting.

My first thought was that bad actors at the Secret Service set him up. They’d be able to get access to his locked garage and anywhere else they could think of to plant them. The most suspicious aspects of this whole business are the timing, the increasing number of locations and the unlikeliness of the locations.
Also, why do Trump & his co-conspirators believe the docs concern Ukraine? If they do, then Biden was definitely set up.
God, I try to write one article to have people giggling enough to think about something else and the last reference… I should not have made.
We need a night off from worrying about Biden and imagining Ford and Mel in a room together. Cat fight.

Jason, your article brought back a memory from long ago—-my husband and I were fond of watching a half-hour program on, as I recall, CNN called “Style with Elsa Klensch”. It had three sections showcasing the latest styles by designers during Fashion Week(s) in various countries. Context: the show aired during the mid-to-late ’80s, and the only “normal” designer was Bill Blass. It was hysterical to watch!!! Especially the Japanese designers!
I realize this memory has NOTHING really to do with the above, but I did have a lovely mental flash of Melania wearing similar “high-fashion” articles and believing in her coolness in doing so….
Love it.
I’ve always said the fashion business makes clothes look ridiculous, because they are so desperate to have everybody notice their ‘designs’ that they have to go to extremes – there is only so much you can do with something to cover a human body after all. I much prefer classical clothes within decency levels of exposure that never go out of fashion.
So the thought of this 75 year old pragmatic lady is: Do all these high level political people pack and move their own boxes? I think not.
Aides pack. Usually low level.political staffers. Apparently the last two months, and particularly the last one, were incredibly busy for Biden as VP.and he wasn’t around much. He had little to.no role in the packing, and it seems like some staffer slightly higher up.in the food chain supervised and didn’t pay close enough attention. If Biden wasn’t there, how can it be HIS fault?
I am going with my own conspiracy theory. I believe the Biden documents were intentionally planted….by the Democrats. Before the new Congress convened, all Republicans could talk about was the endless investigations into Biden and his family. Gym Jordan was gloating and telling the DOJ to get ready for a mountain of subpoenas. Now, all of those investigations have been pretty much derailed. Any time Republicans ask for any document connected to Biden, the DOJ can say, “Sorry, we can’t legally release documents during an ongoing investigation.” The whole situation actually protects Biden from the Republican’s politically motivated investigations. Just my opinion.
That’s an interesting conspiracy theory. The only trouble with it is that Biden would almost necessarily have to be involved, otherwise, why would they be looking for these things and know to keep looking?
As far as Congress goes, yes – it makes it easier on Biden. As far as Trump’s possible indictment goes, it makes it difficult. Though I think I have a solution. Charge Trump with Obstruction of Justice and espionage (if you have the evidence) and leave off the keeping of classified documents, since that seems to be an ever present problem.
If you leave off Trump having possession of Top Secret SCI files, you can charge him with continually refusing to honor subpoenas and lying about giving them all back, along with what he did with them.
But, as of last night, I’d rather focus on the fact that Melania – who wanted Ford to dress her and was refused – living next to the guy she likely still wants to dress her and could be hitting 8 irons into his windows (not Mel, but someone around Mel who plays)
