It’s hardly a headline now, is it, that Donald Trump has publicly berated a female reporter? There are mashup clips of him doing that very thing year after year. But what makes this morning’s encounter newsworthy is the fact that Trump is visibly shaken by the fact that he’s being put on the spot. And Trump hates being put on the spot and shown to be the conman and/or fool that he is. He is both with respect to Argentina. Trump’s backing the strongman there and giving China all kinds of advantages that China never could have obtained on its own without their Useful Idiot back in the White House.

Doncha love the stupid little girl routine he goes into? Stupid little girls didn’t used to get high enogh up in journalistic circles to get on Air Force One, last I knew, but then I’m just a stupid old girl. The “young lady” is probably in her 40’s and has bylines all over the place. I’ll see if I can find out which reporter it was. Point being, Trump has zero respect for the press, as well you know, and even less respect for women. He probably called on her hoping for some softball question about what Melania was wearing that day and it backfired on him.

Trump is screwing the American farmers bigly but that said, I have no doubt that they will continue to vote Republican. Ron Filipkowski points this out, that the farmers took their bailout in 2018 and 2019 and they still can’t seem to see the pattern, that they’re getting screwed.

It is beyond my comprehension why the farmers don’t adopt more of a mindset like the one that FDR instituted and which is the basic underpinning of the Democratic party philosophy, which is that of a strong social safety net. The Democrats would do for the farmers what they need. But somehow we come across to them as the party of weirdos, obsessed with transgender operations, interracial marriages, open borders and all that utter bullshit.

That is the GOP/MAGA propaganda machine on tilt and what we need to do as a party is counter-program that with economic messaging. The farmers voted against their own self interest. Any vote for Trump is a vote against self interest unless you happen to be one of his family or inner circle.

Get ready for Argentina and trade to heat up, along with other theaters of conflict, both military and economic. Trump has nothing to bring to the global party other than incompetence, ignorance and chaos.

  1. The region I was born and lived in until I was 26 is one of great natural beauty, with an economy based on coal mines and farming. Although southern Illinois has some of the largest coal reserves in the world that once huge industry back home went bust well before the larger coal industry did. The coal back home is high in sulfur content and when Nixon signed the EPA into existence and the Clean Air Act was passed the whole thing was doomed. Rather than install scrubbers on their smokestacks Illinois utilities joined other midwestern states and began importing coal from western states. It was a matter of principle, a “screw you you overreaching federal ‘gubmint'” type of thing.

As for farming it never generated the kind of economic output coal did, so a historically poor region was worse off. As for farmers unless I happened to be talking to one in church or infront of young children (and sometimes even the latter didn’t stop it) I almost never heard the word Democrats without it being prceeded by the word “goddamned.” FDR wasn’t the kind of hero you might assume he would have been btw. Anway when I’d challenge them with New Deal inititiativ (and subsequent programs for farmers) like Rural Electrification it would piss them off. Programs like that, crop insurance and price supports are why most of them still had family farms. Pointing out that LIBERALS fought tooth and nailf FOR such things while CONSERVATIVES fought just has hard to stop them only pissed off farmers!

I didn’t get it then and since nothing has changed I still don’t. The only thing I can come up with is this is an attitude they grew up with. It’s a lesson instilled in them down to their DNA. Alas, as I’ve so often said one tragic aspect of human nature is how hard people (far) too often go to prevent having to admit a mistake or that they are wrong about something. It’s just how most people are . While it seems overly simplistic I can’t come up with any other explanation for why farmers so consistently hate Democrats and vote for Republcans.

  2. I would suggest that Trump brings to the global party, in addition to his “incompetence, ignorance and chaos,” instructions from his boss Vladimir Putin to cripple America. Only when you accept that premise, does all his destructive activity make perfect sense.

    • You mean like promising Ukraine missiles…meet with his master Putin, now no missiles and he wants Ukraine to surrender their land.
