When you lose Steve Bannon…
Please indulge one last story on Trump’s grand announcement because the story isn’t really the grand announcement so much as the ripple effect that is tearing Trump World apart. And the “ripple effect” doesn’t even stop with the relationships. It goes all the way to the indictments and who ends up controlling the House.
Yes. Trump has lost Steve Bannon… mostly. Today, Steve laid it out on his net show (Linked Below):
“I can’t do this anymore. He’s one of the greatest presidents in history, but I gotta tell you: whoever–what business partner and anybody on the comms team and anybody at Mar-a-Lago – and I love the folks down there – but we’re at war. They oughta be fired today.”
Now, obviously, he leaves Trump’s name out of it and blames the people around Trump. But if someone is “one of the greatest presidents in history,” then he is able to make his own decisions. Trump is responsible. Bannon knows it (Who else would come up with the superhero idea?) Bannon’s “I can’t do this anymore” is the operative message anyway. Trump’s act has gone cold. Bannon’s message about “staff” is just window dressing. The message is directed right at Trump.
So, who cares about what Bannon thinks? No one, unless someone is trying to gauge how much life Trump still has in him, the pace by which his power is draining. If fewer and fewer people see Trump as relevant to anything in the future, the impact and ripple effect is hard to overstate.
It makes the decision to prosecute Trump that much easier. Garland and Jack Smith can talk about sticking to the evidence and the law, but every prosecutor in the country must ask themselves, “Is this charge in society’s best interests, or will it make things worse?” If Trump were polling at 80% in the GOP and the automatic nominee, it would be far harder to put the country through what would turn violent, as we’ve already seen.
But if Trump’s closest allies “Can’t do this anymore,” fewer and fewer care about what happens to Trump. They’ve moved on to support Musk and DeSantis with the “America First” movement. Trump doesn’t have enough people who truly care to be the danger he once posed.
It also impacts who is going to be the Speaker of the House and how the House is run. McCarthy is Trump’s guy, and Marjorie Taylor Greene is the driving force behind McCarthy (Because she’s following Trump.) But Gaetz, Biggs, and others have already bailed on McCarthy, and without Trump’s “enforcement,” McCarthy doesn’t have much to fall back on. It could be a fractured and factionalized “race” for the speakership that allows the Democrats to play a strategic role in picking the speaker they most want (out of those available.)
So far this morning, I’ve written about the MAGA mainstay New York Post blasting Trump’s money grab, and now Steve Bannon (With Gorka) saying that he can’t do this anymore…
It is crumbling. An election loss, massive mistakes in his rollout, Nazi dinners, more money grabs that mock his community, a new House that may not give a ffff what Trump thinks, DeSantis rising, and prosecutors waiting. It is about to implode. They can’t do this anymore.

Bannon probably does think Trump is on a downhill slide that can’t be stopped. But he’s still leaving himself some wiggle room. Blaming everyone but Trump for the PR disaster with the NFTs. Bannon is giving himself some wiggle room just in case. It’s the same as Murdoch (both father Rupert and son Lachlan) asshats using various parts of their empire to tell people to move on from Trump, that they are disgusted with him and believe it’s past time for someone new to take over the GOP. But, and this is a BIG but their evening lineup, the three hosts of the three-hour White Power Hour (Ingraham, Hannity and Carlson) haven’t been instructed to start regularly doing what their New York Post did. Unless and until that happens they, like Bannon are clearly hedging their bets. Bigly.
When these assholes look into the camera and say “Look, I supported you and your policies but the way you went about things kept you from being anywhere as effective as you could have and should have been. A strong majority of voters can’t stand you and want you in prison and you probably should be. Another large chunk of voters, REPUBLICANS held their noses when they voted for you and devoutly wished there was another choice. THAT is why polling now says they and the GOP in general want “Trumpism without Trump.” You’re a jerk. A thin-skinned crybaby. A narcissist who can’t stand things being about anything other than how great you think you are. In truth you’re not very smart, fairly easily manipulated as we at this network, but sadly also dictators around the world who harm American’s and our interests know. And you’re nowhere near as rich as you claim to be. You’re broke and fight every day to keep your head above water and it’s up to your nose.
JUST SHUT UP AND GO AWAY! And let grownups handle things from now on.”
If and only if that’s the message from all these folks I’ll believe they have truly turned on Trump. Until then however I’ll view them the same way I view all those Congress Critters who tell journalists they never liked or wanted Trump, and wanted him to either be kicked or voted out of office and that he’d slink off into anonymity. I don’t doubt journalists who’ve said all along they hear Republicans talk OFF THE RECORD like this all the time, and have from the beginning. However pitifully few have had the guts to go on record. A defining trait of the GOP, the Party that has for so long promoted itself as the “Daddy”, the “tough guy” etc. is in fact Cowardice! Same with Bannon and the others.
We all knew that when they started to lose in public (i.e., fair elections) that they’d start turning on each other.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer pack of thieves and wolves.
Popcorn time for liberals everywhere.
