Curioser and curiouser. Axios ran a story two days ago saying that Steve Bannon intended to run for president in 2028. Bannon subsequently called the story “bullshit.” So where did the confusion, if there is any, come from? Bannon keeps teasing a third Trump run in 2028, that much we do know. Why does he do that? Probably to suck all the oxygen out of the room. Trump can’t even sit up straight right now and he falls asleep in the Oval Office. What condition will he be in in 2028? But there are other reasons, monetary ones that make running for president a great idea. Could that be Bannon’s motivation? If money is involved, count on it. The Independent:
Former Trump administration adviser Steve Bannon is reportedly laying the groundwork for a 2028 presidential campaign, though he adamantly denies it.
Bannon, a key architect of Trump’s MAGA movement, has expressed interest in setting up a PAC that could spend money in the midterms and has considered political staffing decisions, Axios reports, citing two sources familiar with Bannon’s thinking.
The campaign is not meant to mount a serious run; instead, it is an attempt to steer the GOP debate towards Trump’s signature “America First” priorities, according to the report.
“The Bannon campaign will merge the foreign policy of Rand Paul with the tax policy of Elizabeth Warren,” former congressman and Bannon podcast guest Matt Gaetz told the outlet.
Bannon has consistently denied he’s running, telling Axios its report about a 2028 run was “bulls***.”
I’ll tell you what isn’t bullshit. The idea of follow the money. That is an axiom as solid and enduring as the pyramids. Plus, a separate MAGA party, as opposed to the GOP being the MAGA party, could potentially sink J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio or whomever would run on the Republican ticket.
But then again, Steve Bannon is being a bit cocky thinking that he can be the next Trump. Which leads us back to the money. Bannon should be able to pocket a lot of it. This is a plausible story.

You ask what condition Trump will be in by 2028. I’d say odds are he’ll not last that long. His molding corpse will be trying and failing to ‘push up daisies.’ Flowers, or grass for that matter won’t be able to grow in soil that keep getting saturated by people continually pissing on it!
Can he grift more money by pretending to run for President?
There’s your answer.
From the Gaetz quote: “The Bannon campaign will merge the foreign policy of Rand Paul with the tax policy of Elizabeth Warren.”
That is the MOST laughable thing I think I’ve ever read. Paul’s foreign policy is a near retreat into total isolationism (yes, we had a bit of a global empire with a bunch of colonies before the world wars shook us out of that but most of that was the result of a “war” with Spain at the end of the 19th century but our entry into both world wars was because we were forced into them) while Warren’s tax policy is “make the rich pay their fair share.”
Drumpf is showing he’s not interested in the kind of isolationism that Paul wants (not even Paul believes Drumpf’s crap about Venezuela and he’s shown zero support for Drumpf’s Greenland obsession) and he’s shown even less interest in Warren’s tax policy (since Warren was pretty adamant in voting AGAINST that “Bigger Breaks for Billionaires” bill last summer).
