This is a first. Mike Johnson admits to actually having seen or heard something. Bookmark this, it will be a long time — if ever — before you see this take place again. Johnson is a man of God, we are told, in addition to being the Smirking Speaker we have come to know.
Speaker Mike Johnson on Trump post depicting himself as Jesus:
“I talked to the president and told him I don’t think it was being received in the same way he intended it, and he agreed… I don’t think he thought it was sacrilegious at all.” pic.twitter.com/JQr61zoQtf

Sacrilege is extreme disrespect to sacred things. Now I’m actually going to agree with Johnson here. I don’t think that Trump thought he was committing sacrilege either, but that’s because Trump is too tone deaf and stupid to know what is sacred and deserving of respect. Everything is funny ha ha time to Trump.
It is fascinating that he’s managed to shake up, if not alienate, his far-right evangelical base. That’s a key demographic that it’s good not to alienate but Trump managed to do it all the same.
Mike Johnson, if you haven’t heard, has no intention of remaining Speaker when and if the Democrats take back the House. He does not want to be Minority Leader, so he will simply step back into the shadows from whence he came, the “victor” of races where he has run unopposed. Good choice on Johnson’s part. I, for one, will simply be happy when we don’t have to put up with his continuous smirking.
Jim Jordan is said to be actively campaigning for the Speaker role. I think that somebody else will come out of the shadows, like Johnson did, before Jordan gets the gig. Jordan is too much of a live wire and has too many enemies.

“…Trump is too tone deaf and stupid to know what is sacred and deserving of respect…”
Exactly! The only reverence in his diseased soul is reserved for his self-interest and (at a great distance) that of his family. And Johnson calls himself a devout Christian? I’d add something about the Apostles spinning in their graves, but that would be insensitive in this Easter season…
Gym Jordan, with his history of unsavory coercive sexual behavior, dis-honesty, and fraud would make the perfect republican leader. He represents their moral character and standards completely.
