I would say that the saga of George Santos is so wild that somebody will make a movie out of it, except that somebody already did. Do you recall Eddie Murphy’s The Distinguished Gentleman? There’s a clip of it below, “from conman to congressman.” Life imitates art, right? Intriguingly, House leadership voted to keep Santos. Mike Johnson loves Santos. So does Tom Emmer. And poor Marge is beside herself. What will she do when she loses Bobo?Oh, right — she hates Bobo now.

This hasn’t been Marge’s week. Her book isn’t selling, even though she got a glowing endorsement from the publisher, Don Junior. Fancy that? Umm…..Marge? MAGAs don’t know how to read, just saying.

Santos is the sixth member of the House to be expelled and the the first to be expelled without first being convicted of a federal crime or supporting the Confederacy, although the crime conviction is just down the road and who knows? Santos may soon reveal that he’s a time traveler and was in league with John Wilkes Booth back in the day. If we’ve learned one thing with respect to Santos, it’s that the story can never get too strange.

Here’s a bonus. Rescreen this and Idiocracy.

  1. It’s not like House Republicans are putting forward any meaningful legislation.
+1 majority is all that’s needed to keep their sham committees going.

  2. 90 percent of Republicans in US legislature and state legislatures are criminals and will steal every red cent they can from taxpayers if voters do not take away their majorities next election. 2024 is the big one, buckle up cause it will be chaotic because Republicans love chaos

  3. I tried to keep an eye on the vote as it was taking place, and when Johnson banged the gavel to make it official I flashed back almost fifty years. To when I played the role of Curly in our high school’s production of the musical Oklahoma! and more specifically the song “Poor Judd Is Dead. With apologies to Rogers and Hammerstein (or maybe they’d approve?):

Santos expelled, George Santos is expelled; The House has gone and kicked him out for good…

But don’t worry folks. We haven’t heard the last of Santos by which I mean chances to offer up the ridicule he so richly deserves. He will after all be going on trial. And in the meantime? I had a rough night last night and woke up from having fallen asleep on the couch. And saw Stephanie Ruhl talking about him to a guest on her show who suggested perhaps we’d see him on Dancing With the Stars. Her reaction was priceless! The only time I smiled all evening long. (I’ve never watched an episode of that show. Clips are more than enough and usually too freaking much.)

  4. Woohoo! For a fleeting incredulous second …. incredibly nooooo … it’s not a lie this time, George. You will not be missed! Thud!

  5. Wow, Santos didn’t even make a parting statement, like “They won’t have George Santos to kick around any more,” or something like that. You can tell his feefees were really hurtin’.
