This is another one of those clips that is so far out there you think it has to be parody, right? But we live in a post-parody world, alas, and everything is fair game. I post this because this is the second time in as many weeks that some right-winger has opined on the merits of slavery. And it’s not just the extremists that are pushing this idiotic ideology. Ron DeSantis used to say that slaves learned “vocational skills” like the institution of slavery was a boarding school or something and not the worst thing that has ever taken place on American shores.

I know that a lot of people laugh at the religious wingnuts and so do I. But beyond that, there is danger that we need to look at. The likes of Pat Robertson and Franklin Graham have advocated the takeover of government by electing people with these extremist views for the past fifty years and look at what we have in MAGA. This did not happen overnight.
My message is keep one eye out for these people because I believe them to be dangerous. And I don’t think that a Handmaid’s Tale kind of theocracy is the impossibility that only exists in the pages of fiction. Not after I’ve seen the degeneration of politics in this country in the past ten years, I don’t.
