This doesn’t surpriseĀ me in the least. As a matter of fact, it’s refreshing to hear, because so far Mike Flynn is doing all the dog whistles but this character, Scott Lively, actually is putting a face on this murky rebellion in formation.

Now where this gets genuinely comical, is how does this guy think people are going to live off the grid? The survival of society is crucial to the survival of the individual. That’s the plain way of it. Thomas Hobbes said that life without society would be, “solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short.” We need one another. We need to be part of a social contract. But this guy is suggesting that all the wingnuts should do is disconnect and go underground like the Morlochs.
Remember the Morlochs in H.G. Welles’ The Time Machine? They were a nasty, brutish and short race, which is what made me think of it. They lived underground and the Eloi lived above. What kept the Morlochs alive is that the Eloi would gather food for them so that they didn’t put together raiding parties.
I would not look to the rest of America to enable the wingnuts on that level, although maybe that’s the way they would try to make it go down. This is the makings of a bad dystopian sci fi script, with the MAGAs demanding a pile of food and provisions be brought to them daily or they’ll come blow us all away with their arsenal.

I think they’ve watched too many movies where the few underdogs beat the giant military machine. It rarely works that way. And in the US, the giant military machine knows the terrain, because they aren’t invaders.
Republicans need society as much as anyone. They can’t exist underground. Their “I’ve got mine” philosophy is false security. I find it amusing that there is a shortage of members of the medical society as they and their children head to the ICU.

These video game players are going to get a wake up call when the bullets start flying. Fat whiny assholes probably do not make very good soldiers. They are more interested in displaying their toys. One wonders if they really think it will be like the games they play. They look real and all the but when your friends start dropping and the place starts to smell like a battle field these RWNJ pussies will find out if they have any balls. We already know they have no brains.
