Robert DeNiro was always one to avoid the press like the plague. He had a reputation for that. But all that changed when Donald Trump came on the scene. DeNiro has seven children, all of them mixed race and one of them LGBTQ. He saw Trump as the threat that he was, not only to people like DeNiro and his family but to people who were substantially less wealthy and able to defend themselves. So he went to the media and shared his views. Here’s his latest.
The full statement is worth reading. It was to have been delivered at an activist meeting in New York City a few months ago but DeNiro was down with COVID-19 and was unable to attend. So Miles Taylor read the piece aloud for the in absentia DeNiro. But now DeNiro is back and fighting. The way he loathes Trump is music to my ears because I feel exactly the same way. And I know you do, too. This is the truth about Trump and not some “derangement syndrome.” There is a derangement syndrome in this country, however, and it is called MAGA.

If you missed this DeNiro opus from 2016, you’ll love it. I rewatch it from time to time because it only becomes more and more true, unfortunately.
DeNiro is 80 and he would punch out Trump’s lights given the opportunity. Man, what a Pay Per View that would be! The 80-year-old raging bull going after Mr. Pudgy, notwithstanding the fact that we are now given to know that Trump is suddenly svelte and of formidable mental powers. Let’s see his svelte up against DeNiro’s, we would find out very quickly who’s who and what’s what.
Trump is a disaster for this country. I’m grateful to Robert DeNiro for using his celebrity to sound the call that we must not allow Trump to regain the White House. I expect that the actor will be very active in this next election year and I look forward to it. I hope that other celebrities will lend their voices as well.

One of America’s greatest actors! He’s played enough evil guys from Taxi Driver, Cape Fear, Goodfellow, etc., and done it so well, YOU know HE knows how evil guys tick. Thanks for your movies! Given how many celebrities are so goddamn phucked up, it’s refreshing to see Mr. DeNiro take a stand. Of course, I can relate to the composition of his children. Speaking of movies, I remember Matthew McConaughey playing a Confederate deserter who returns home to Mississippi to lead a makeshift militia in his county, based on a true story. When he leads a group of black men into the county seat to vote, the racists there are all around the ballot box and there are no ballots for them. He reminds these assholes that those men with him, having endured horrors, were more ready to die than the racists, who did their work under hoods, at night as the Klan. He forces them to back down. These fascists have never had to break from their power and comfort. They talk tough, and think shooting unarmed people makes them soliders. Think again assholes. Pull a coup and You will become the hunted. COUNT ON IT! VOTE!
DeNiro does know how bad guys tick. His version of Al Capone scared me. He captured his psychosis perfectly.
I’m sure on some level it kills Trump that the best actors in our country, the likes of DeNiro, Streep, a lot more that can be named, simply loathe him. Trump wanted to be a movie producer but his father wouldn’t let him. I wish to hell his father had. Trump would have done a lot less damage in Hollywood than he did in Washington.
And Trump would have pre-empted the slimy Harvey Weinstein as the producer whose despicable character exposed the fetid swamp running through Hollywood. He would have been a man ahead of his time and in jail for a long time.
