No Labels has folded up its tent and gone home, but RFK Jr. is pressing forward with his Presidential bid. Debate about whether his role as a spoiler (and that’s all his candidacy will do, play spoiler) will hurt Biden or Trump more is ongoing. I’m undecided on that point, but the fact remains that Kennedy is out there making mischief. In fact he’s doing worse than that, in no small part because strident anti-vax nonsense is taken all too seriously by so many. However he’s recently waded into knew areas of crazy. Like claiming Biden is more of a danger than Trump. Or that the Jan 6. insurrection wasn’t actually an insurrection at all and even that people have been unjustly prosecuted and convicted. That’s quickly blown up in his face, so Kennedy has done some half-assed walking back but as the headline indicates he’s trying to cover his butt. In trying to please both sides he’s digging himself into a deeper hole.

As described in a Newsweek article RFK Jr. has attempted to distance himself from the initial statements recently made. For starters, an email laying out what turned out to be controversial comments in a fundraising email that caused him some damage was blamed on a contractor that’s since been terminated.  That email certainly offered up plenty that would raise eyebrows. It included this:

“This is the reality that every American Citizen faces — from Ed Snowden, to Julian Assange to the J6 activists sitting in a Washington DC jail cell stripped of their Constitutional liberties,” the Kennedy campaign’s email read. “Please help our campaign call out the illiberal actions of our very own government.”

For a guy trying to claim the mantle of his beloved father to attract Democrats, to convince them he’s a much better choice than Joe Biden that went over like a lead balloon. Especially coming not long after several dozen members of the Kennedy (led by his freaking sister!) family got together with Biden at the WH to endorse the President and pose for photos.  Keep in mind this fundraising email comes on the heels of a CNN interview where Kennedy said because Biden allegedly “censored” “political free speech” he could make the case that Biden was more of a threat to democracy than Trump. That, followed by the fundraising email was a one-two below the belt punch to the President and Democrats in general.

Kennedy tried to walk the so-called (by him) bigger threat thing by going on NewsNation and saying “I didn’t say definitively whether I believed one or the other was more dangerous for democracy; I did say that I don’t believe either of them are going to destroy democracy.”  Well, THAT didn’t go over well with conservatives he’s trying to court.

That clarification, though, didn’t sit well with many conservatives. Larry Elder, a former GOP presidential candidate who now supports Trump, posted to X video of a baby running with the text, “RETREAT!!!! and linking an American Liberty story headlined: “RFK Jr. backpedals after labeling Biden a threat to Democracy.”

I can’t help but think of the old saying about when you try to please everyone you wind up not pleasing anybody. Well, that’s the first recent turd Kennedy dropped but let’s go back to the fundraising email and his thoughts on Jan. 6 and the rioters that tried to help Trump overthrow the government. I pointed out earlier RFK’s team (such as it is) has attempted to shift blame to some outsider, a mere contractor who sent out something without authorization:

A campaign spokeswoman told Newsweek that the fundraising email “was an error that does not reflect Mr. Kennedy’s views,” and that the language was inserted by a new marketing contractor that has since been terminated.

Kennedy’s statement issued Friday begins with: “January 6 is one of the most polarizing topics on the political landscape. I am listening to people of diverse viewpoints on it in order to make sense of the event and what followed. I want to hear every side.”

I don’t think I need to tell you what it is you’re smelling.  On the one hand, the Kennedy campaign claims the fundraising email doesn’t “reflect Mr. Kennedy’s views” and then he turns right around and says he wants to “hear every side.” To which I ask where the f**k have you been in recent years? Trump and his supporters have been shouting his lies from the rooftops almost constantly. Democrats and others have been fact checking them pointing out facts and truth. There was the J6 Committee’s work, including the hearings and their definitive report (with all the supporting testimony and evidence in appendixes) and all the plea deals (and allocutions by those convicted) and actual prosecutions and convictions with all that evidence presented in court where defendants and their attorney’s could challenge it.  Call me crazy but I think we’ve heard plenty from both freaking sides!

And of course he can cue up video of the speeches (including Trump’s) from the Ellipse that morning, the HOURS of the riot actually being shown LIVE as it happened and Trump’s too late calling off his mob including his “we love  you” statement. And the “outtakes” of his petulant, even sometimes angry attempts to speak on the events before we finally saw the version broadcast that day. Given all that Mister Kennedy just what else do you need?

I’d also like to point out something in Kennedy’s statement “clarifying” his position:

“I have not examined the evidence in detail, but reasonable people, including Trump opponents, tell me there is little evidence of a true insurrection. They observe that the protestors carried no weapons, had no plans or ability to seize the reins of government, and that Trump himself had urged them to protest ‘peacefully.’

Let’s unpack THAT. For starters Kennedy has had to admit that after issuing that statement he learned (only then? I call bullshit) that some of the rioters who entered the Capitol DID have guns. And that others were standing by in a hotel across the river with an arsenal waiting for word to be activated. And I’d like to hear his definition of weapon. Clubs, knives, chemical sprays carried by so many sure seem like weapons to me. I’m not talking about makeshift stuff like using flagpoles, or items they took from the officers defending the Capitol but actual things they brought ready to fight with. And what about all the videos people posted (including from inside the Capitol) about acting on Trump’s orders, or given to journalists brave enough to get into the crowd saying the same? Communications between some rioters and others about what Trump was tweeting, all amidst constant “Stop the Steal!” and “Hang Mike Pence!” (and Nancy Pelosi and others) too?  Call me weird but it sure as hell seems like that INSURRECTIONIST mob of rioters were there to stop the Electoral Votes from being counted!

Kennedy has counted all along on nostalgia from older Democrats and left leaning Independents to vote for him simply because of his name. To equate him with his father. Seniors have always been the most reliable bloc of voters after all. I fear too many will fall for it which is why I’m undecided about whether he’ll hurt Biden or Trump more. Still, Kennedy knows he needs more and hopes to pull in MAGAs who might go soft if Trump gets convicted or too crazy even for them, and strongly right leaning Independents. So he tried adopting the concept that the Jan. 6 riot wasn’t actually that big deal. Just a legitimate protest that got a bit out of hand. Oh, and that those convicted are “hostages.”

He’s talking out of both sides of his ass. And what comes out of asses is nasty brown organic matter. As far as I’m concerned RFK Jr. is nothing but a human sized sack of sh*t stuffed into a human shaped skin.

  1. Your description sums up this serial liar and cheater, who’s responsible for his wife’s suicide because of his repeated infidelity. He clearly is a POS weathervane spinning around trying to find out which way the wind is blowing. Neither Jack, Bobby, or Ted were saints, but he’s doing a hell of a job making them appear as such given his craven and despicable lack of character.

  2. I don’t want to be complacent, but I have the feeling he will fade away. Why? Because he’s not even good at bullshitting.
