Y’all, I must say I’m a bit gleeful because of this news. I’ll bet ol’ RFK Jr has not just egg on his too-tanned face, but *raw* egg, and more than one of them! For someone who is “all about MAHA”, that tan alone shows he’s only serious about things when it suits him. After all, tanning can lead to skin cancer. That’s not healthy. And why has no one said anything about it yet? But, back to the subject at hand. From CNN:

HHS reinstates more than 450 CDC employees fired in April reorganization, including the childhood lead poisoning team.

Oops. I guess he figured out these were necessary, unlike what he thought of with his random RIFs. Or he finally figured out the firings made him look *really* bad. Or both. Either way, they’re back at the CDC, which is not getting shut down after all, and that’s what counts.

The US Department of Health and Human Services is reinstating more than 450 employees at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who were fired as part of a massive reorganization in April, including workers focused on HIV and childhood lead exposure.

More than 200 employees had their firings rescinded at the CDC’s National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and Tuberculosis Prevention, along with 158 at the National Center for Environmental Health, an HHS spokesperson confirmed. Another 71 were brought back in the Office of the Director, and two dozen more at the Global Health Center.

The reinstatements represent almost 20% of the 2,400 CDC employees who HHS saidit was dismissing in a mass Reduction in Force, or RIF, in April. The cuts also affected employees across the US Food and Drug Administration, the US National Institutes of Health and the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, but an HHS spokesperson said Wednesday’s reinstatements applied only to employees at the CDC.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Too Tanned Man saying he was going to cut 10,000 or some ridiculous number like that? I suppose I should go look. Well, now, I was right. Go me. From an AI overview: “Originally, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. intended to cut 10,000 full-time employee positions from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This move was part of a larger plan to restructure the agency, reduce its workforce, and consolidate divisions. According to HHS, these cuts would save the government about $1.8 billion per year. The plan was to decrease the overall HHS workforce from 82,000 to 62,000 employees. “

Now that I’ve gone completely sideways, back to the subject at hand, which somewhat ties in with the above paragraph. Employees are being reinstated because of a stupid mistake. And how much time and knowledge have we lost? How many people are actually going to *come* back? I don’t know if I would trust this sudden change of heart. And I would expect some of them were already able to move on.

“Under Secretary Kennedy’s leadership, the nation’s critical public health functions remain intact and effective,” HHS Director of Communications Andrew Nixon said in a statement. “The Trump Administration is committed to protecting essential services – whether it’s supporting coal miners and firefighters through NIOSH, safeguarding public health through lead prevention, or researching and tracking the most prevalent communicable diseases.

“HHS is streamlining operations without compromising mission-critical work,” he continued. “Enhancing the health and well-being of all Americans remains our top priority.”

Suuuuuuuuure it is. Just nod and smile at the idiot and his nonsense. You know RFK Jr would try and turn it around into this great thing. But too many of us have been too suspicious of him since he was “chosen” for the position to trust in anything now. The only thing we‘re certain of is that he fired people. Why should we believe a known antivaxxer? (I won’t get started on vaccines again.) Why should we believe a known IDIOT? Let’s start to close with the remaining information in the short article that gave me an excuse to grin and rant. Ha.

Fox News earlier reported the reinstatements.

The cuts had wiped out the CDC’s Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention and Surveillance Branch as it was in the midst of helping the city of Milwaukee address a lead exposure crisis in its public schools. The firings meant the CDC had to deny a request from the city for specialists to help. US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was repeatedly pressed by reporters and lawmakers over the situation, and he said he didn’t intend to eliminate the branch.

On Wednesday, the entire lead team was rehired, along with its parent group, the Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice, according to its newly reinstated director, Dr. Erik Svendsen.

“You previously received a notice regarding the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) upcoming reduction in force (RIF),” read an email to reinstated employees, obtained by CNN, who had been put on administrative leave since the notice of their dismissal. “That notice is hereby revoked. You will not be affected by the upcoming RIF.”

Yuh huh. See what I said in previous paragraphs. “You will not be affected.” They already ARE affected. With a heaping case of cynicism, that is. I strongly suspect the world is laughing at us again. Just another example by the master imbecile tRump and his cabinet of slightly lesser imbeciles. Yes, I’m still pissed about USAID and at DOGE.

I hope you folks are happy with this news, too, or possibly, like me, gleeful. And a reminder to enjoy the image of Too Tanned Man with raw eggs dripping from his face. Thanks for sticking with me!

Zoomers, if you can help the Little Political Blog That Could keep trekking through cyberspace, we would appreciate it. My medical issues are still ongoing. I need to have a minor operation to remove a skin tumor. The hits just keep on coming, like a ’50s radio station. Thank you for all you do. Ursula

I still think they’re child killers until people start yelling at them and they change their ways, at least for now.

    • You’re welcome! I’m glad to hear this from you! I have a problem with “child killers” but it’s definitely child something. This antivax shizzle is going to hurt children, for sure.
