Two fields of endeavor are absolutely wide open nowadays and they’re related: one is the occupation of election fraud expert. Anybody but anybody can walk right into that one, no skills, education or experience necessary. The only qualification is the ability to come up with incomprehensible bullshit that sounds technical. The other is GOP candidate for elective office. Same set of credentials required. Yes, Mellisa Carone, we’re thinking of you.

Coming right up on Carone’s heels, however, is one Ed Solomon a “mathematician” and self proclaimed election fraud expert from New York who told OAN in a January interview that he had “found evidence within precinct-level reporting that the election was rigged by an algorithm.” Purportedly different precincts throughout the country reported the same results at various times when the votes where being counted and Solomon claims that this is a mathematical impossibility of astronomical proportions. VICE News:

If this sounds suspiciously vague for a mathematician, that’s because Solomon is not actually a mathematician, according to a lawsuit voting machine company Dominion filed against OAN for knowingly reporting defamatory claims against the company in the wake of Trump’s loss. In fact, according to the lawsuit, Solomon is a convicted drug dealer and “was working as an ‘installer’ at a swing set construction company in Long Island” at the time of the interview. […]

As for the nature of Solomon’s supposed findings, FactCheck.org spoke to several actual voting systems and math experts who noted that, far from being “not enough atoms in the universe” to explain its occurrence, whatever that means, is not at all odd for various precincts to have the same vote shares at different times in different parts of the country.

It is also unclear where his data actually came from, since in the original 50-minute video outlining his claims, Solomon says it is the “data from the NYT feed from PA on November fourth” and the link to the “original data sets” is dead.

Dominion sent OAN two retraction demands within a week of the video being posted, according to the lawsuit, pointing out that Solomon lacks any expertise and is a convicted felon. The lawsuit says OAN “quietly removed” the video and story from its website, but it can still be found on OAN’s Rumble page, a popular video platform for Trump supporters, where it bears the title “Smoking Gun.” Solomon has continued to post YouTube videos of election analysis and math lessons for months. His most recent stream from early July, “The Mirror of Maricopa; Is there a parametric line?” is 11 and a half hours long.

If you want to see this jewel of an interview, Media Matters found a copy. Hit this link and scroll down. It is choice. Frankly, I’m surprised Solomon isn’t one of Mike Lindell’s cyber guys. This is totally his speed. And what I’m really surprised about is that he hasn’t formed his own PAC and is running for office in 2022 on the GOP ticket. But there’s still time.

  1. WOW, just anybody with no knowledge apparently, can start up a CT adopted by the Republican freaks …

Whoa … hey, they could even make this guy a president, move over Don, Ed is here to save the day … /s

  2. Let me guess the author of this drivel flunked remedial math at the high school level. He hates what he sees and doesn’t understand the math, so he has to figure out some way of “discrediting it.”

When you have no argument, rely on character assassination. You are a nobody. It is obvious that you can’t understand the math. You have proven nothing. I did a whitepages.com search for Ed Solomon. There are over 100 records for that name. So you/Dominion randomly chose the one with the worst record and claimed the man didn’t know math. That is because Dominion is a fraud and you can’t understand the math speak which proves Ed Solomon is NOT just a swing set installer.

Your lies is easy to see through. All you have to do, if you understand math, is listen to Ed Solomon present his data. You are a fool, kind of like a kid trying to hide the fact that he stole a cookie. When you aren’t qualified to rebut a claim perhaps you should try to stay within your lane of expertise. Then next time you won’t look quite so stupid. Someone who is just a swing set installer can’t possibly understand understand 3 dimensional geometric data analysis. And even if they did have a basic understanding of it, it takes a whole other level of understanding to explain it. Which is where you screwed yourself. You can’t understand that so you rely on your readers being at least as stupid as you are to pull the wool over their eyes. Well not everyone who reads your trash is untrained in math.

So genius, Can you explain why the math is wrong. Nope. Because it is not wrong. That is why you lied about the findings.

    • There are people named Ed Solomon with easily verifiable academic (including in math) pedigrees. Dominion states in its lawsuit THIS particular Ed Solomon is a convicted felon. That is a serious thing to say, and if untrue actionable by the judge and your Ed Solomon himself could try and sue over it. (If you’ve been paying attention lately judges are starting to sanction attorney’s who’ve made bullshit claims in Big Lie lawsuits. And even state bar associations are sanctioning & even yanking law licenses and lawyers HATE punishing other lawyers!) Unlike those trying (and failing) to win their Big Lie lawsuits in court folks on our side don’t make shit up. So, this guy being a convicted felon doesn’t speak well of his credibility. Neither does claiming academic credentials he doesn’t possess. FactCheck.Org did a deep dive and found the university Solomon claims to have graduated from (Stony Brook, which to my knowledge is a very good school) did in fact take some math classes between 2008-2015 but isn’t a graduate. I assume they are unable to produce documentation of what classes he did take, how many and his grades in them without his permission.

Funny how he doesn’t seem to have given it. Nor it seems is he willing to cite the source of the data he has used to create his “analysis.” I could go on all day but will cite a specific thing Solomon goes into with his talk of algorithms – Georgia. Four, count em FOUR recounts including a hand one confirmed the election results there. More importantly, for an algorithm to be inserted into vote counting software by cyber attack the machines in question have to be connected to the freaking internet! Guess what? Georgia’s Election Management System is NOT connected to the internet. Maybe to prevent exactly the kind of cyber attack Solomon says happened?

That he was installing swing sets is no big deal as far as I’m concerned. A person can be a genius yet also like doing relatively simple labor and living a more modest life than they could have. Hell, I had all kinds of options but started and ended my career in not at all well-paying social services jobs. I watched my dad go and do a state job for which he was vastly overqualified and hate it, but it was a steady job and allowed us to live a lower middle class life. So even though for a while I “went for the money” for most of my life I was willing to trade higher income for belief in what I was doing.

I will also concede that lack of a formal education doesn’t mean someone can’t develop expertise on a subject. However, it’s hard to take Solomon seriously when he can’t cite and back up with transcripts formal education, related work experience and can’t/won’t say how or where he got whatever data he used as a basis for his claims, because according to other people, experts with credentials that can be fact checked what he’s provided isn’t the stuff that state elections office have.

What we do have is a convicted felon, who inflated his own academic credentials using data he can’t/won’t source that isn’t the data held by election offices/officials. If that’s the kind of person you trust, I have a bridge I’ll give you a great price on if you’re interested!
