Even though the party has advised against doing them, Rep Flood had an in-person Town Hall. It did not go well. But it seems he kept his cool during the whole thing and I’m impressed! (He won re-election with 60% of the vote.)
Let’s start with the first article: He got clobbered by what he said about Zelenskyy. He said, “Zelenskyy should have signed that agreement.” What he got was a woman saying “Shame. I want to shame you for saying President Zelenskyy’s approach today was disrespectful to President tRump and undermines the goal of peace and all that” Gee, maybe she was saying the exact same thing I’ve been thinking. *Zelenskyy* WAS respectful…until Vance was a dick and President tRump jumped on the bandwagon and started excoriating him on LIVE TV. *That* was disrespectful! He has been in a *war* for more than 3 years now. I don’t see either one of them offering to go see what it’s like on the actual front lines. They really have NO IDEA what he’s gone through.
But you’ve heard that from me before. So, back to Rep Flood. “I support Elon Musk and DOGe.” “BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!” I’ll bet that took him aback. If he hasn’t figured out that what Muskrat and DOGe are doing is Not Good, there’s something wrong with him. I would guess it’s fear of what would happen if he said anything about it. The specter of “you’ll get primaried” probably has a lot to do with it. Elon is a bully.
Okay just one more (long) quote. “Congressman Flood, I just heard you in the last few minutes say that you support NATO, that you will not allow cuts to Social Security, that you support Ukraine, but talk is cheap,” one person said, according to The Hill. “Our president, our vice president … and Elon Musk have caused damage, they’ve humiliated the United States because we’ve failed them. We are failing to support democracy. We have a president that openly supports [Russian President Vladimir] Putin instead, and I have called your office over and over, and I have received answers from you, and they do nothing about any of those things,” he added. “You have done nothing. When are you going to do something?”
To close, here’s the viral moment. The crowd started chanting “Tax the Rich! Tax the Rich” Rep Flood says “So your proposal to solve the debt is Tax the Rich?” *Wild* cheering from the crowd!!!!! I don’t think that’s what he was hoping for. Seems to me it was the *opposite* of what he was expecting. H0, h0, h0. Gotcha, dude!!!!! I’d say he got his ears pinned back in a glorious fashion. I don’t think he was expecting such a large crowd telling him *exactly* what they thought of him.
Many people in the comments were saying “bro, literally yes, that is the solution.” Or “One of those moments when human beings actually make you feel good.” And just for fun, “The audience said ‘Bitch, did we stutter’.” Pardon me while I take time for hysterical laughter! Those comments were just *choice*.
I have to applaud him for daring to do an in-person Town Hall against advice from the Republican Party. We’ve seen how some of the others have gone. I think his constituents were pretty restrained. Either way, he did it *in person*.

The strategists are aware that this attack on America by the American government is going about as you might expect were you served turd soup for dinner. The politicians are in their echo chambers with their comrades stoking one another up over how well the destruction is proceeding. If the politician does not heed the advice of his strategists he will find himself in very unfriendly surroundings such as a town hall meeting. I’m just wondering how long it will be til’ the pitchforks come out.
Dear author, I’m glad you acknowledge the bravery of the congressman to hold an in person town hall. It can’t be easy trying to reason with rabble rousers like that. I’m also glad you shared some quotes from the event as I did not watch. The congressman said that he supports social security, veterans AND DOGE. If the constituents only solution was to tax the rich then I think their anger is misplaced. Also, it seems that some democrats are having a hard time at their town halls too. Leads me to believe that government efficiency and the deficit are non partisan issues.
