Lady Justice is a tough old broad. It seems that she lets people get away with murder — literally — and sometimes that is the case, to be sure. But on other occasions, the wheels of justice, however tardy, do fall into place and move towards a resolution that people can live with.

Today in Wisconsin a federal judge ruled that a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the father of a man shot and killed by Kyle Rittenhouse during the 2020 protest can proceed against Rittenhouse, police officers and others. This is major. PBS:

The father of Anthony Huber, one of two men shot and killed by Rittenhouse, filed the lawsuit in 2021, accusing officers of allowing for a dangerous situation that violated his son’s constitutional rights and resulted in his death. Anthony Huber’s father, John Huber, also alleged that Rittenhouse, who was 17 at the time of the shootings, conspired with law enforcement to cause harm to protestors. John Huber is seeking unspecified damages from city officials, officers and Rittenhouse.

U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman on Wednesday dismissed motions filed by Rittenhouse and the government defendants seeking to dismiss the civil rights lawsuit.

In allowing the case against Rittenhouse and the others to proceed, the judge said that Anthony Huber’s death “could plausibly be regarded as having been proximately caused by the actions of the governmental defendants.”

Clever Kyle has been claiming that he hasn’t been properly served and it’s evident he’s avoiding service of process. But that kind of silliness can only go on for so long. Creating a procedural morass is one of Donald Trump’s favorite ploys, maybe he passed it on to his acolyte, Rittenhouse. In any event, that excuse won’t fly anymore.

Attorneys and private investigators for John Huber spent over 100 hours trying to locate Rittenhouse, tracking down addresses in seven states, before they found the home of his mother and sister in Florida. The lawsuit was served on Rittenhouse’s sister, who said that he wasn’t home. Adelman said that was sufficient to qualify as being served.

Clever Kyle may be the next O.J. Simpson. Simpson walked on the criminal charges but he was found liable in the civil suit and had to pay out substantial damages to the families of his murdered spouse, Nicole, and Ron Goldman, her coworker. Simpson also ended up in prison for nine years in Nevada for armed robbery and kidnapping, done in 2007. I don’t think you need to be a soothsayer to see the same kind of a future for young Rittenhouse.

  1. If it weren’t for the tragedy he’s responsible for causing him to be sued it would be funny as hell that little Kyle is running and hiding from process servers. Social media should have a field day with this, mocking his “tough guy/badass” credentials! The memes create themselves, at least for people (unlike me) who know how to create them. I say MOCK the hell out of this murderous little fuckwad. Visit every bit of humiliation possible on his antics of running and hiding.

  2. Kyle needs to.Go Away. He will do.something violent again. Rape a girl. Shoot an innocent party because he “felt threatened.” He isn’t capable of learning. But he owns nothing, and likely has little income.because the little gobshite doesn’t have a job. They can perhaps garnish his bank account.
