Glory be to God, what a night this is. Georgia has elected her first-ever African American senator, Raphael Warnock, according to NBC and CBS, echoing the Decision Desk HQ Project and Business Insider, who called the race a few hours ago. It will come as a shock to precisely no one that Kelly Loeffler is pulling a Roy Moore and hasn’t called Reverend Warnock to concede. She may be immensely wealthy in terms of dollars, but spiritually and socially, she’s trash. She has zero character and even less class. You may quote me.

The east coast will go to sleep now as we in Pacific time marvel at what a day, what a glorious day. The shade of John Lewis is with us tonight, on this historic occasion.

As another famous Georgian said, “tomorrow is another day” and yes, indeed, we will rise and see the ballots being counted. If only Jon Ossoff can maintain his lead. What a day January 6 will be.

Mike Pence is scheduled to begin the charade in the joint session of Congress at 1:00 p.m. and I have to believe that if the Perdue/Ossoff match is called by then, in favor of Ossoff, that no matter what great actors the charlatans that Mo Brooks and Josh Hawley have assembled are, they’re going to lose the wind from their sails and the whole show will play out as the phony and insulting display that it is and nothing more.

We shall see.

  1. Let’s imagine a hypothetical for the night of Nov 8, 2022, where Governor-Elect Stacey Abrams makes her victory speech, thanking Senators Warnock and Ossoff for their help in getting her elected and Warnock re-elected.

We always lecture the right about the consequences of demographic change, and they always say “yeah, yeah, whatever.” But of the above very possible hypothetical occurs, is there some other moment in American politics that would be more of an alarm bell for the GOP? I can think of lots of little alarms across the map…but none as huge as that eventuality.

    • The GOP is finished. Post Trump it’s going to pull itself apart with neither of the likely parts being any bigger than previous ‘third candidates’ have been. The Trumpists will be fighting the ‘Old GOP’ about ‘betrayal’ more than the Democratic Party. The right and far right won’t be back in any power positions for ten years or so.
While they are out of power all the systems they have gerrymandered, twisted and perverted must be reformed, strengthened and proofed against fascism and to keep the USA as a functioning democracy where the will of the people is paramount and where the 1% at the top have no more say than 1% anymore.

    • The GOP made the common mistake of thinking they had more time. After this night that we took Dixie down, it’s fair to say that time is up.

  2. Now the republicans are whining and moaning about the senatorial seat Harris is going to vacate as Vice President. It seems it’s somehow unfair for the governor of California to appoint Alex Padilla? WTF!? When will they give it up already! When is the full weight of the book going to be hurled at those lunatics!?

    • It stops when it becomes obvious to the slowest of them how much more we can make this change hurt them. That time is close at hand.

    • They have no case. 45 out of 50 states mandate that the Governor chooses the successor when one of their Senate seats is vacated. That includes most republican states.

  3. SUCK IT Mitch! Without control of the committees you might find that it won’t be just the House that looks into your ties with Russian mobster and Putin bestie ODP. Better run to your wife’s friends in China for help from their intel services on how to avoid exposure to things like polonium or Novacick.
