Ok, so burnt toast isn’t a pleasing aroma when making breakfast but sometimes it smells sweet as roses. This is one of those time. South Carolina Gubernatorial candidate Nancy Mace staged an event to speak to the state’s Mom’s For Liberty. With only a grand total of eight, EIGHT people showing up she wisely slinked away. Man I can smell the burnt toast of that all the way up in North Carolina!
Since announcing her bid for Governor Mace’s campaign hasn’t exactly taken off. Floundered is a more accurate description. Not that her tenure as a GOP Representative has covered her in glory. She’s mostly been an embarrassment to them like Bobo the Colorado Boob Clown or Jewish Space Laser gal MTG. But she’s giving it the old college try. Not that the state’s vaunted private Citadel Military Academy been touting her as a distinguished graduate either! But as The Daily Beast reports Thursday was an awfully pathetic day:
Mace was set to address a local chapter of the far-right organization Moms for Liberty, but changed course after only eight people showed up, HuffPost reported. Mace reportedly slunk away backstage to avoid addressing the situation directly, before pivoting to speaking with those in attendance individually—and taking some questions from the media, of course.
Event organizers had reportedly hoped 100 people would show.
I could use some of whatever those event organizers are smoking. A hundred people? I’d have assumed she might, might I say draw 25-30. At best. It doesn’t take a large room to hold a hundred seats/guests but let’s face it. Even only half those seats being filled would have been a bad look. EIGHT people? In an all too rare moment of good judgement Mace, waiting in the wings decided to take a powder. According to the linked article she held ‘individual meetings’ with those batshit-crazy enough to show up. And of course she addressed reporters later. Camera HOs gonna Camera HO no matter what.
Mace is trying to ride Trump’s coattails, describing herself as “Trump in heels” but with five candidates in the race for the GOP nomination shoving her ample rack might get her some male MAGA votes but not as many as she thinks. And it will turn off MAGA women. Mace claims to have a “double digit lead”, a claim I take with one of those big salt-lick blocks on the farm I looked after in WV. (the owner bred racehorses)
You’d think this would indicate to Mace she’s not just burnt toast, but burnt to the point of catching fire and quickly becoming nothing but charred bits and crumbs. Alas, this is Nancy Mace and I suspect she’ll stay in all the way through the primary. When she gets her butt kicked in THAT we can hope she chooses to run as an Independent. A GOP/MAGA Civil War in an early primary state will be good for Democrats and not just in South Carolina.
Let’s hope Democrats there pick a really good candidate. Even if whomever it is can’t win, they might force the GOP to devote resources to holding the Governor’s Mansion and perhaps a Senate seat too. Perhaps steal a House Seat as well? In the meantime we can all enjoy imagining the always despicable Nancy Mace wallowing in her misery this weekend. And to more campaign trail flops in the months ahead. I don’t know about you but I know damn well Republicans take delight in kicking ANY Democrat when they’re down. So I say f**k em and respond in-kind whenever we can.

So Ms Myristica Fragrans superficially tried to project the aroma of a freshly manicured lawn at this get-together, but it didn’t take too much to deduce, that the prevailing lay of the land was more eczematous with an acrid aroma of ammonia.
