It’s ironic how the children of privilege, the trust fund babies who have been completely insulated from the reality of the work a day world their entire lives, are the ones to be fomenting an armed revolution in this country. Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene were in Iowa last night and talking the anti-Biden talk. This is on the same day that a North Carolina man drove into Washington, D.C., claiming that his car was wired to explode upon the breaking of his windows and send shrapnel out for two city blocks. And that there were four more vehicles like his in the city as well.
In days of yore, a partisan event like Greene’s rally would have been a bit more tempered after an emotional event at the capitol. Not in the least. Greene’s supporters, or at least some of them, think that they should follow the example of the Taliban.

This is not some small deal with the school boards, as I said in my post yesterday. The school boards are basic, front line local elective positions. Recently a school board in Pennsylvania blocked the teaching of critical race theory. There was another story out of Utah where a school board was going to vote on a revisionist historian version of slavery, which said how “kindly” slaves were treated. That one didn’t pass. And then there’s Ron DeSantis threatening to withhold pay to counties that defy his no masks edict.
Do not underestimate the power of local school boards and do not minimize the threat that Michael Flynn and the QAnon crazies pose.
Right now a right-wing assault on America is being coordinated on several fronts. You see the school board efforts, aimed at both misinformation in the curriculum and lack of physical safety from COVID-19. You hear the right-wingnuts talk about armed insurrection. You saw the North Carolina man drive into the capitol yesterday with his threats and bravado. Here are a few more tidbits.

Maybe bodies need to be stacked like cords of firewood before these people get the message. I would hate to think that’s true but there are people who won’t believe that something is dangerous, let alone lethal, unless they personally witness it. So perhaps the stories about anti-vaxxers dying painful deaths on ventilators are futile until we reach a certain tipping point in this country.

You see it taking place before your very eyes, the dual narrative. We literally are two Americas, contiguous, comingled and coexistent. And we have two versions of reality. We are living in dystopian sci fi, folks.
WTF is she still in Congress?
They’re going to find out it’s a lot harder to be insurgents in the US, because Canada and Mexico won’t want them. And here, they’re not going to get support from more than about 20% of the population.
That 20% has already done incalculable damage. We don’t even know how much and even a SWAG (SCIENTIFIC Wild-Ass Guess) won’t be possible for years, if not at least a generation.
Keep in mind one other tragic fact. It is ALWAYS easier to destroy things than to build them and that includes functioning institutions that are critical to a functioning government.
