This story should be a wake up call. It just broke shortly after noon Pacific time and perhaps it will grow some legs, because what it says about life in this country right now is nothing short of appalling. When the day has dawned that people trying to survive a deadly virus feel that they have to disguise themselves and beg for anonymity while getting vaccinated, something has gone seriously wrong in this country.

We have all seen this freakish metamorphosis from global pandemic to political hot spot. We have seen the leading epidemiologist in this country, Anthony Fauci, become demonized and openly insulted by Republican senators in front of congress. And God knows that we have seen right-wing media, both broadcast and social, tear at the very foundations of science and common sense.
This is a good news/bad news scenario. It’s good news that people in states which are severely under-vaccinated are taking steps to get the vaccine. The fact that they have to fear that their identity will be revealed and that that will somehow cause them social embarrassment or censure is beyond belief.
This is what the dual narrative of reality in this country has wrought. Are we ever going to get back to one narrative? I highly doubt it. Apparently, living in one reality is too uncomfortable and it’s also too difficult for the GOP to fundraise unless it’s fearmongering at the same time.
I’m getting the feeling that the republiqanons have realised that the more members of their herd who contract Covid and possibly die, the smaller their membership becomes and less members equals less votes at the next election.
Some of their “leaders” have, but too many of them still push the lies. (One of them was talking about masks as if they’re muzzles. That’s someone who has an agenda, and it isn’t keeping people alive and well.)
As if wearing a mask is not enough? While wearing a mask is not required at the store whose pharmacy vaccinated me, it was made clear that wearing a mask was required to be vaccinated. They must be afraid that their republiQanon neighbors may spot them!
The reality is one party wants all the power & gold, & is willing & able to use every means necessary including facism. They only care about the masses to the extent it enriches them. Therefore they have no ideas, policies, or anything else to offer. The last 6 yrs have shown this in Technicolor. The only thing left is propaganda to allow them to seize power in the back room without voters realizing what they are actually doing.
They should worry about the one who can take their body and soul, instead of the fruit cakes on the right who can only take their bodies. I think anyone who is a GOP leader, their name should be publicized, because they are telling their constituents one thing and doing another. They are breaking their oath office.
This demonstrates just how stupid the denizens of what is still called, but no longer resembles, the Republican Party has collectively become.
The blame for this level of moronic ineptitude is on the shoulders of our modern-day Benedict Arnold, Donald Trump.
The problem comes down to a choice between tribalism and science. Or to put it more clearly between magical thinking and critical unbiased analysis.
